OT Provisioning http-server-enabled devices (Was: Siemens Gigaset DECT base provisioning)
hello,
I would to define and unattended process to configure devices which are
http-server-enabled, use DHCP but do not use TFTP-DCHP to configure
themselves during boot.
Has anyone worked on such subject ?
I was thinking of something like :
populating configuration file from device web pages (rendering this as
generic and flexible as possible)
writing a script which reads this file and set

Gigaset S450ip and simultaneous calls
Hi,
My Gigaset S450ip allows 2 simulatneous calls when each incoming call are
targeted to different phones.
When both calls target the same extension, the second one is forwarded to
voicemail.
I couldn't check yet SIP messages but has anyone met this limitation (one
simultaneous call per phone) ?

Siemens Gigaset C450 IP vs S450 IP
I've just ordered a Siemens Gigaset C450 IP cordless
IP/DECT phone, given that it's supported by asterisk

However, I see that a slightly better Gigaset S450 IP
is available for only a slight price premium.
Are there any user experiences with the S450 IP?

MWI problem with Siemens Gigaset S675 IP
Hi list,
Before purchasing a number of Siemens DECT SIP phones, the Gigaset
S675 IP, I read that the problems with MWI had been fixed with the
latest firmware version (see
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Siemens+Gigaset+S675IP). Now I'm
not so sure that's the case.
After setting up a network mailbox for one of these phones, as well as
an Asterisk voicemail account (ext.

Siemens Gigaset IP in USA (S685 IP in particular)
For some unfathomable reason, Siemens USA doesn't offer the Gigaset IP
range in the U.S. I'm particularly interested in the Gigaset S685 IP.
Since it's DECT 6.0, and there's an English (UK) version, I'm thinking
it should work just fine, after dealing with the walwart issue (and
maybe caller ID signalling).
Anyone imported one from the UK and using it in the US? for how

Siemens Gigaset + Asterisk Query?
When you configure the Siemens gigaset handsets (I have S685IP), there
is a single option for all handsets to use either the POTS interface or
VOIP as the default outbound destination - you then need to add a dial
suffix if you want to use an alternate outbound route.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to make just *one* of the
DECT handsets only use the POTS but others default to

Calls audio stops with latest Gigaset C450IP firmware + voicemail
Hi,
I'm using Asterisk 1.2.18 on a Debian Etch box. I've noticed a very
strange fact which causes a bad prob. When I get an inbound call, I make
4 phones ring at the same time, one is a Snom while others are Gigaset
C450IP with _latest firmware_.
When I get a call and answer with the Gigaset, a second call going to
voicemail makes the first call received on the gigaset C450IP stop

Siemens Gigaset S685IP Review
Hi there,
in case anyone is interested, I've just taken ownership of a small home
network (3 handsets) of the brand new Siemens DECT PSTN/VOIP phone.
It works great with Asterisk. Here's my overview and review so far...

How to send SMS to Gigaset phones ?
Hi,
Searching this list archives, I couldn't find a definitive answer to my
question :
how to send SMS to Gigaset phones ?
My goal is to send Alert SMS such as "This phone system will be stopped in
5mn for maintenance" to every terminal (SIP phones and Gigaset DECT phones).
(So at the moment, I'm not looking for way to send SMS from handsets).
I could successfully send 1 short

how to define a key to decline incoming call
Hi all.
We have Snom phones which do have a defined key in order to drop incoming
call WITHOUT answering.
Pressing that key, a "SIP/2.0 486 Busy Here" message is sent back.
We have other phones (I.E. DECT Siemens C450IP, or ATCOM 320 or other)
which DO NOT have any key to do that (or the key does not work, as is with
Siemens C450 IP ): you have to answer and immediatly after hangup the

Siemens Gigaset Phones get mute function.
Hi, I know this is a little OT but there are many Asterisk users of the
excellent Siemens DECT/VOIP phones like the S685IP and 475IP and this is
probably newsworthy for them.
One of the biggest bug bears has been no mute function on the handset.
When I woke up this morning, the handset told me there was a firmware
update. I updated and then visited the web site to find out what had

DECT SIP phones
Hi folks:
I know it's come up a few times before, but I need some more detail.
I'm looking for a SIP DECT (cordless) phone for North American
installations. I've heard only of the Siemens Gigaset S450/C450 phones.
Apparently these aren't sold for use in NAm, even though they're
supposed to be legal (in the United States, anyway).
On top of that, I understand they have some

Siemens S685IP registration problems
Hi folks,
I wonder if any of you out there are using Siemens S685IP base station(s) (with S68H handsets) on Asterisk and experiencing problems with SIP registrations where the SIP extensions do not ring and peers become unreachable after a period of time.
Symptoms are rather sporadic, but as described, SIP extensions being unreachable from Asterisk perspective. Also experienced 'not

DECT to SIP gateway experiences
G'day. I hope this isn't off-topic for the list.
I am looking at an Asterisk setup that includes cordless phones. The
three choices I can see, at this stage, are:
* wifi phones
* an ATA and a cordless analog phone
* a DECT to SIP basestation
The various wifi phone options don't grab us as suitable -- they are
costly, have poor battery life and even the best have pretty mixed

The Siemens has a feature were I can also use a PSTN landline, but I not

Two phones fail to agree on codec, asterisk at fault?
Hi list,
I am faced by a situation where I am trying to make a softphone and
a Siemens C450IP talk to each other. Both are hooked up directly to
the same asterisk, in the same IP net.
- a softphone runs on 192.168.14.3
- the C450IP is at 192.168.14.30
- asterisk runs on the machine known as 192.168.14.1
I am running Asterisk 1.4.11, backported to Debian Etch by Xorcom.
If I set
