Asterisk and hylafax: how to debug ...
Hi,
I hope you might give me some hints on how to find where my
configuration is wrong, I am new to Asterisk and do not know, how to
find the problem.
Running Asterisk (version: 1.8.13.1~dfsg-3) on Debian Wheezy. On the
same maschine: Hylafax fax server. I want hylafax to use t38modem (a
virtual T.38 modem) for sending faxes. t38modem schould connect to
asterisk on the same host.
If hylafax

spandsp as T.38 termination?
It seems that Spandsp has everything in it (when you include rxfax and
txfax) to be a T.38 termination when used with Asterisk 1.4?
And if so, what version of Spandsp?
What version of IAXModem (so I don't have to also deal with T38Modem)?

Asterisk, Hylafax and t38modem working together ?
Hi,
I've read this thread in this list history
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.telephony.pbx.asterisk.user/261151/match=t38modem
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3337581&group_id=152230&atid=783657
Has anyone been successful when integrating latest version of Asterisk (10
or 1.8, for instance) with t38modem ?
My target setup is:

[Asterisk-Dev] OPAL now supports IAX2
August 5th, 2005:
Craig Southeren announced today that OPAL (http://www.voxgratia.org)
now provides support for the IAX2 protocol(Written by Derek Smithies
and released under the MPL). This support allows you to use
chan_woomera (http://www.pbxfreeware.org) driver developed by Anthony
Minessale II to interconnect your asterisk systems and use the IAX2,
SIP, and H.323 protocols.

T.38 on a MAX/Lucent/Ascend TNT
Hello folks,
I've been trying to get T.38 over SIP working with calls terminated by a
MAX/Lucent/Ascent TNT. As far as I can tell, SIP and T.38 are actually
working perfectly; however, I can't get the TNT to properly terminate a
FAX call. Does anyone have a working configuration for SIP and T.38 for
calls from a TNT or APX?
Here's a brief description/diagram of my test setup:

IAXModem or T38Modem?
Hi all,
I'm installing Hylafax on my Asterisk system. From what I've read, I can
either use IAXModem or T38Modem to provide the virtual fax device. So at
the risk of starting a religious war, which one should I use?
I don't mind running IAX if I have to. I want as much flexibility and
stability as I can get.
So, what are your recommendations?
Mike.

Little t38 bug?
Hello List,
I think I've discovered a little bug in t.38 bug in 1.6.0.22 regarding the speed (T38MaxBitRate) used to send the faxes.
Asterisk always responds with a=T38MaxBitRate:2400. I've tried with Patton and Grandstream devices and the result is always the same.
Patton ignores the parameter and sends the fax at 9600.

FAX using T38
Dear all,
I'm trying to enable Asterisk to work with FAX using T38. I've tried
Asterisk 1.2.4 with the available patch found at URL
http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=5090 and also with the new 1.4 Beta3
that is announced to support it too.
With both Asterisk versions, I've sent with success FAXes between two
FAX machines each one attached to an ATA interface, both registered in

Asterisk does the T.38 negotiation and produces the answer SDP, PJSIP
does the SDP

T38 negotiation, the last step !
Hi, I've managed to get HYLAFAX---->T38MODEM----->ASTERISK---->CISCOAS5400
working, but when they are negotiating asterisk drops a message telling
"Unknown RTP codec 96 received from gateway" Do somebody know how to fix it
?
Thank you !

*Update Jul 2007:* For a T.38 gateway you can use Asterisk 1.4's
T.38pass-through support in combination with the new OPAL (Open Phone
Abstraction Library) - using t38modem (currently CVS) which now supports SIP
(and not just H.323) to terminate T.38 calls. You can also use OPAL and
chan_woomera to do essentially the same.
Where can you find this t38modem stuff ?
Google replies things that

Asterisk t38modem Fax gateway evaluation
Hi,
I am trying to fix a Asterisk setup with buggy (POTS) Fax machines. The
setup consists of the following components:
- A Digium TE121 for connectiong to E1 ISDN
- Debian box with Asterisk 1.4
- Grandstream GXW-4008 SIP ATA to which the Fax machines connect
I am aware of the problems with this type of ISDN <-> Asterisk <-> SIP
ATA <-> Fax machine installations, e.G.

Asterisk Faxing Support
Asterisk 1.2 has no support of t.38 whatsoever, the call will drop
before t.38 is ever utilised, not even pass-thru.
1.4 Adds support for T.38 pass through only and no other sort of
faxing, the endpoint must support T.38 and you must send your call to
a T.38 gateway and you must not use NAT anywhere in your network and
you must enable re-invites which could cause CDRs not to reflect the

Using Asterisk as an Fax-Gateway for analog Fax devices
Hi,
this problem could be a bit tricky. We?ve got some good old Fax-Machines
here and need to create an fax-report of all faxes which goes out through
this devices including an copy oft he fax. The fax-machines are not able to
store this fax-report on an storage-place ore send it to an email-account.
My idea is now, connecting the fax-machine though an analoge-VOIp Adapter to

T.38 fax solution, opinions?
Hi,
I'm putting together a fax solution for my company that utilizes T.38. I
wanted to throw out my plan and get some feedback if anyone is doing
something similar or sees a blatant problem with it.
We're currently rolling out SPA-942 phones for the standard desk phone with
vanilla Asterisk 1.4.15 (just upgraded it today) on the back end. Most calls
for satellite offices are handled by
