I have a Ubunu 8.04.1 system that has been running a package under wine with no problems since last June. A few days ago I ran the software upgrade program and it moved wine from 1.1.7 to 1.1.9 and this package no longer works. When the program starts it needs to contact a server and that portion fails. When I login to twinview the systray icon is missing but if I use nvidia-settings I can switch to a single screen. and back and have a systray icon.
