Linking Asterisk with another SIP PBX (or SIP Softswitch)
Hi List;
If I need to do a trunk between Asterisk and another
SIP softswitch (so Asterisk will send a SIP calls to
that softswitch), then I have to configure this on the
sip.conf file or where exactly? And is it the same
when I configure iax trunk?
Should I determine the context in this case for this
SIP trunk?

SIP IP-Trunk to be authenticated based on username and password, not IP address
Hi List;
How can one Asterisk Box A to send a SIP call for another Asterisk Box B, and that call to be authorized based on the username and password, and not on the IP (as the IP address of the source is not known because it keep changing)? I think the trick in the Dial command, how to write it properly in a way that other Asterisk Box can recognize the sip username and password which are existed

chan_sip.c: Retransmission timeout reached on transmission
Hello friends:
I am facing cutoffs randomly when negotiating calls.
The PBX dials the destination, the provider (softswitch) receives the
request *[1]* and sudenly the PBX hangs up the call* [2]* while the
provider is still dialing it, as a consequence the remote peer receives a
ghost call. Along the atempt I could see six times a messages regarding NAT

register => to let Asterisk register to another softswitch via SIP
Dear Alex;
Thanks alot for your nice help.
This is if I need to let Asterisk register with
another softswitch (so I used register =>), what if I
need asterisk to send call for the softswitch without
register to it (directly)? If I removed the register
=> then how it will distiguish the IP address in the
"host" at the [sip_trunk] is the IP address of the
softswitch that need to

Receiving SIP calls without registeration and dynamic IP address
Hi List;
How can I configure asterisk to receive a call from
SIP end point without being registered at asterisk and
its IP address is dynamic, and authentication to be
based on the username and password or any other
string?
I know that if I place the host with static IP then no
need to register, but what if the voip gateway was
having dynamic IP and I do not need to register on
asterisk, but I

Using register => to let Asterisk register to another softswitch via SIP
Hi All;
Alot of softswitches or PBX's does not accept to
manipulate any SIP call without being registered
firstly. So that means, I need asterisk to register
firstly then I can route my calls to that SIP trunk.
In IAX2, we use the register => , so what shall we do
in Asterisk? And how its format will be (if we will
use register)? Or what is the solution?

Why Asterisk doesn't accept sip302 redirect?
My asterisk should follow 302 redirect which it
receives from other sip server(10.10.10.10). By
running network sniffer I see, that asterisk receives
302 answer, but doesn't follow it.
My config is:
sip.conf:

type=peer
host=10.10.10.10
canreinvite=no
promiscredir=yes
insecure=very
disallow=all
allow=g729
allow=g723
.......

Selecting a specific line from Zap/g
Dear List;
How can I place a call via Zap/g1 (group) but need to
determine the line (FXO port)
that will go via it?
Also, how it will be possible to assign an dedicated
line (connected to FXO) to an
button on the Polycom IP Phone or Broadtel IP Phone,
so if user select that button
then he will be sure that his outside call will be via
that specific line.

Codec order sent wrong from Asterisk
I'm communicating a softphone (SJPhone) to a Grandstream phone GXP-2000.
The codec order on each one is the next:
SJPhone: GSM - iLBC - PCMA - PCMU
GXP2000: G729 - GSM - PCMA - PCMU
(I have a G729 license, so there's no problem with transcoding G729)
In my sip.conf, I've defined the following codec order:
disallow=all
allow=g729
allow=gsm
allow=g726
allow=alaw
allow=ulaw

Is it possible to register without sending the password

Media Proxy Mode in Asterik: SIP and
Dear Alex;
Thanks for your kindly reply.
Please explain for me what do u mean exactly in "a la"
in the following sentence u wrote it below?
" in SIP, this can be done via
"re-INVITEs" a la the canreinvite= option for SIP
peers in sip.conf"
Another thing, do u mean that it is easier (better) if
we need H.323 endpoint to talk with SIP endpoint then

Making sense of SDP for debugging of missing audio in SIP trunk
I am debugging an intermittent issue of missing audio on calls that come from a SIP provider into our asterisk-11.10 installation. Sometimes, incoming calls from this provider work correctly, with audio streaming in both directions. Other times, with the
same setup, the calling party is unable to hear the IVR recording from the asterisk installation, although in fact the streaming is supposed to

Setting codec on originating (calling) channel with chan_pjsip (SIP_CODEC_INBOUND equivalent)
Hello,
Anyone? I have hard time to believe this is not possible with chan_pjsip.
Anyway, may I ask how people handle the following scenario which I
imagine should be quite common:
- I have internal extensions talk to each other using g722. so their
codec setting (with chan_sip now) is "allow=g722,ulaw"
- I have carriers trunks that handle ulaw only (allow=ulaw)
- calls between

Media Proxy Mode in Asterik: SIP and H.323
Hi List;
All we know that in voice, there are a type of
communications between endpoints, for example: in some
communications we do a proxy for media and signaling
while other communications we do a proxy for only
signaling.
Where I can determine these things in Asterisk if I am
using SIP and if I am using H.323?
