openldap mmr + heartbeat hot standby
Hi List, I've setup 2 openldap servers in n-way multimaster replication mode in a test environment, both run centos 6.2, this works well but now i'm trying to make these 2 servers failover using heartbeat. i've got no experience with heartbeat (or setting up clusters in general) however from what i understand heartbeat starts/stops the service if the server has the virtual IP

Clustering apache
I'm a greenhorn when it comes to clustering in RHEL/CentOS and recently setup an active/standby clustering using Apache & Heartbeat. It seems to be a good entry step into clustering however after testing it I was disappointed in that the resource manager does not start httpd on node2 if httpd on node1 is dead (only starts httpd on node2 if the heartbeat daemon on node1 is dead). Is there

heartbeat, drbd init scripts and chkconfig
Hi, We are using the heartbeat and drbd packages from latest centos (4.3) extras repository. Upon installation of both packages I noticed that if you "chkconfig heartbeat off" that will cause drbd to chkconfig'ed on. And visa versa. After doing some trouble shooting it turns out the "BEGIN INIT INFO" sections appear to be the cause. drbd has: ### BEGIN INIT INFO #

GlusterFS, Pacemaker, OCF resource agents on CentOS 7
Hi guys I'm wondering if anyone here is using the GlusterFS OCF resource agents with Pacemaker on CentOS 7? yum install centos-release-gluster yum install glusterfs-server glusterfs-resource-agents The reason I ask is that there seem to be a few problems with them on 3.10, but these problems are so severe that I'm struggling to believe I'm not just doing something wrong. I created

High Availability with Samba and Heartbeat
Since I get so much from this list I thought I would share a project I've been working on and how it works with samba (3.0.1). It is Samba related so I hope it's not off topic. I've set up a HA solution with redundant Samba Domain Controllers throuth the "Heartbeat" package at: http://www.ultramonkey.org/download/heartbeat/1.1.3/redhat_9/ I have two "Redhat

samba file server with heartbeat and drbd
Hello, While working on heartbeat/pacemaker for a web service stored on drbd, I've thought what I've learnt could also be applied to samba in order to build a fault tolerant file server in our domain. While digging samba's doc, I've found that CTDB could also fulfill the need and is maybe better suited as it's samba-related. But on the other hand, I'd appreciate to begin

Non-traditional Failover Query
Hi, Partly because I never like straightforward solutions, I am looking to implement a non-standard failover system that owes its origins to mixing RAID 5 with some beer. The idea is to have machines A, B and C, configured as follows: 1) Any given process is running on TWO machines at the same time. If a process or machine fails, then a new backup is started on the third machine. There is thus

Asterisk native sounds now available!
Hello everyone, As I promised at eTel last week, I have finished up work on my "Asterisk Native Sounds" project. Here's a little diddy from astlinux.org: ----------------------------------- Asterisk Native Sounds are a collection of audio prompts for Asterisk. They will improve quality, reduce CPU usage, reduce latency, and (in some cases) eliminate the need for G729

High Availability and Load Balancing
Hi All, I am currently researching on doing high availability and load balancing with a couple of Linux servers, most specifically doing service takeover on top of Heartbeat. The scenario is: - 2 DSL lines from a single provider - 1 Broadband line from another provider Internet / | \ | | | /

High Availability and Storage Cluster
Dear mailing list members, There was a branch about clusters, but I have a certain task. There are two servers with CentOS 5.5 installed. The servers are working with Zabbix (monitoring system for traffic, using a MySQL), wiki and RT (all are using Apache). If one server will have became not available then necessary start these services on another server with replication of data. Can I use

High Availability strategies
Hi, we have a medium setup (8000 pop and imap users using almost every available client, 800GB of stored mails using maildir on a Celerra NFS server, with index files on local disks, and procmail for local delivery), being served by a Dell PowerEdge 2850 (2GB RAM and dual P4 Xeon 3,2GHz). Our current not-so-high availability setup is based on a similar server with the same setup and a easy

High-Availability shorewall
Hi all! I think I remember there have discussion on this topic on this mailinglist a while ago. But the archives don''t find anything. Did anyone here set up a configuration with shorewall and heartbeat or vrrpd or ucarp? What would you prefer? Any experiences with failover times, setup problems etc? Good documentation on this? Thanks, Christian -- you don''t need eyes to see

Clear Node
I am trying to make a mysql standby setup with 2 machines, one primary and one hot standby, which both share disk for the data directory. I used tunefs.ocfs2 to change the number of open slots to 1 since only one machine should be accessing it at a time. This way it is fairly safe to assume one shouldn't clobber the other's data. Only problem is, if one node dies, the mount lock still

Some queries on g729 license.
Hi, all I am a pabx vendor from Singapore. Recently we are going to implement a failover solution for our customers using heartbeat, the asterisk server can failover perfectly, however the g729 codec canot work, because it is binded the mac address, we have bought two set of licenses, can you provide us some workaround for this scenario? Regards, Liangliang
