[probably OT] wireless voip converter
Sory if this is offtopic or rude, but I guess some people here might have the experience... I'm looking for a product to connect my 30-some DECT users to the voip (SIP) network. Some kind of DECT base station that connects to ethernet and supports the sip protocol. And it should have the capacity to support 30 (or maybe even more) users simultaneously. Does anyone know of a product like

wireless ATA
I have a need for an ATA that will register over wifi. *NOT* a DECT phone or other cordless type phone plugged into a wired ATA. Not seeing one right off, and following the recent discussions about compact fanless systems, I thought a custom build-your-own might not only be useful for my purpose, but may be a viable product in its own right. So I started looking for mini-PCI based FXS cards.

How to escape characters in Dialplan
Hello, I'm using Asterisk 1.6.2.0 and I like to use escape characters with SendText, because I can just delete the message from my phone (Thomson Speedtouch ST2030) display by sending a return-char (\n). But \n is not escaped: I tried already: exten => 222, n, SendText(\n) exten => 222, n, SendText("\n") exten => 222, n, SendText('\n') exten => 222, n,

Cisco 7940: showing FWD in display.
Hello all, this may be slightly offtopic :-) I have some Cisco 7940 phones with SIP firmware, connected to an Asterisk 1.2.18-BRIstuffed-0.3.0-PRE-1y-g (HorstBox Pro with custom extensions.conf). On some of the phones, two lines are configured, one for business, one for private calls. When forwarding a line to another destination (e.g. to voicemail), we can't use the phone's own

Respond to an out of call SIP MESSAGE
Hi, I'm having trouble configuring Asterisk to respond to an incoming out of call SIP MESSAGE. The transport protocol is TLS and the Asterisk version is 10 (it's old, but I'm kind of stuck with it at the moment). Currently I have roughly the following configuration and handling: sip.conf: [general] accet_outofcall_messages=yes outofcall_message_context=sip-im and extensions.conf

SEND TEXT to an extension?
Hi, I understand SendText() sends text on the current channel. Is there a way to manipulate this feature to SendText toward another SIP device? I use Polycom IP600's. Local sendtext works fine. Would be nice to drop an instant message on another user's phone. thanks! Mark

Core show function?
Someone posted a message suggesting someone try sendtext() and so I thought I'd see if it was useful. Much searching through help at the CLI has failed to find any help for sendtext, but I did find that: "core show function vmcount" fails but: "core show function VMCOUNT" works. Is that a bug and if so, has it been reported? Ira

Wi-SIP vs. SIP-DECT
Anybody care to muse on Wi-SIP vs. SIP-DECT? My limited research indicates that none of the WiSip phones will ever be able to match the performance of DECT phones. Maybe I'm wrong but a Wi-SIP phone seems like a DIESEL sports car. There is nothing wrong with the technology, but it seems like a shoe-horned fit into the requirements of a wireless endpoint. DECT uses a wireless radio layer

Hi all -- I'm having awesome fun with Asterisk & voicepulse connect together. So cool. I'm trying to have the caller id read back to me. Do I need to do something to have this sent across in the sip.conf? Or is there something I need to do somewhere to enable the reading of this data? Thank you! Matt Here is my extensions.conf exten => _XX.,1,Answer() exten

Intro to DECT vs IP
We've deoplyed a number of pure VoIP wireless (wifi & proprietary) phones, but not dect. Is there a simple overview of integrating DECT phones with Asterisk somewhere? I assume the DECT basestation has a multi-account SIP VoIP interface, and the handsets are just plain old dect? Can you push configuration info to individual phones? (Are they individually addressible / configurable
