IEEE 488 & Wine
Hello Mike,
I saw a posting from 2002 where you were asking about running Windows
programs on top of WINE that would talk to GPIB devices. Did you ever
get that working?
I'm looking at some HTBasic code which has it's own drivers to talk go
the GPIB card. They seem to be drivers that speak directly to the memory
registers of the card. I would hope that this sort of communications

Strange Mail Problem
I submitted this question to the Postfix maillist and they suggested
that I post to this one.
Here's my issue:
I have a Postifx email system running on a CentOS 4 box, with Dovecot
pop3 and imap. Last week, one of my users reported to me that about a
dozen emails suddenly showed up in his in box (as unread messages), but
none of them were addressed to him. Under further investigation,

Duplicate SID for Root and Samba Server Machine Name
I have a samba PDC with LDAP backend running on CentOs 4. Everything is
working fine, but my log watch report showed two users with the same
SID. I checked it out and it appears that ROOT and the samba machine
ASTER$ both have the same SID.
If I do a pdbedit -Lv I get this:

NT username: aster$

Backup Domain Controller
I created a BDC for my network, running a slave LDAP server. Do I need
specify the same workgroup as the PDC in the smb.conf? I was thinking
I'd put it on a different workgroup just for organizational purposes.

[Urgent] Cannot make changes via pdbedit
I have been having some problems since I updated from Samba 3.0.23 to
3.0.25b. I have installed the latest version of smbldap-tools but I am
still not able to make certain changes to a user's account. I have
created a new user named JROLFE.
After I set up a new user, I will set it so they are required to change
their password when they first login. I usually do this through LDAP

Cannot Join Client to Domain
I have a Samba PDC with LDAP running on a CentOs 4.4 machine. When I
first had it all configured, everything worked fine, but now for some
reason, login scripts will not run on the client (even though they have
access to the shares the login script is trying to map) and I cannot
join client machines to the domain automatically using the Windows XP
Network Identification Wizard. When I try to

Corel heritage applications
I understand that the applications that Corel release for Linux are WinXX
apps tweaked to run under Wine. I have no problem with that, but it makes
me wonder what success has been achieved running Corel Win apps. Sure beats
upgrading if they still do the job you want.
The applications that interest me are:
WordPerfect version 7.0.2.19
Quatro Pro version 7.0.2.14

Help. . .read socket data errors
I am using the defaults that came with the samba RPM package on Mandrake
10.1.
For socket options, it has:
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
Is that something that may fix the problem if I change it?

Samba doesn't work after upgrading
I just upgraded my system to Fedora Core 7 from Core 6 and I find that
now Samba doesn't seem to be working for me anymore. If I try to
connect from my laptop computer running Windows XP I just get one shared
folder that has only a few subfolders (probably because offline files is
turned on). If I try to connect by using the IP address (\\192.168.0.5)
it tells me that it's not accessible

That is terminology from Computer Science. (Decades ago?) It is familiar. Not invented by Cisco. As in, producer-consumer, from the same time. Those were all different paradigms for client-server relationships. There must be Wikipedia citations that can be consulted. As I recall, there were distinctions, such as, producer-consumer were tightly bound, where the producer had no purpose
