Faking system time
Hello all. I am trying to use WINE to make a windoze-only development environment (very rudimentar, command line cross-compiler and stuff) under Linux, because GNU make is far superior from the M$'s 'nmake'. Anyway, I have some trouble with expirating licenses and stuff, and the solution is to revert the system date back to some valid thing and then compile. Since I am now running

[LLVMdev] Summer of Code 2009 "Support for an ELF writer"
Hello So how did it happen that the only project which was a candidate for libJIT Summer of Code in GNU, with the same title got selected in LLVM? Does it mean that the same genius idea came to two minds? Thanks, Kirill -- http://code.google.com/p/libjit-linear-scan-register-allocator/

dtmf payload 100
Hello, I encountered the dtmf problem between my asterisk box (1.4.23) and suppliers gateway (unknown vendor). I have dtmf mode set to rfc2833 and it alway worked till supplier has changed something. Now I receive from him dtmf payload 100. With the second supplier which sends dtmf with payload type 101 everything works. in cli I get this message as dtmf is entered rtp.c:1287 ast_rtp_read:

Current process for tickets
This afternoon I was looking at the tickets posted in Trac, and I saw that there we quite a few stale tickets and patches. A lot of these are filed against very old versions of Rails, I think it''s fair for the people posting these tickets that they get resolved. Either by just removing them all or by weeding them out. I understand that closing tickets is not very glamorous work

Mapstraction V2 Geocoder?
Hey all, I''m wondering about your thoughts on upgrading the Geocoder to use Mapstraction V2. Currently it uses the old syntax (i.e., for LatLonPoint, etc.): http://mapstraction.appspot.com/#geocoding Moving from V1 to V2 is fairly simple changes to the code. However, I wonder whether we want to update the way the geocoder is structured, as well? Some options: 1) Roll geocoding

Modifying Model Output
Hi! I''m a very-very new Ruby-on-Rails user even if I have some experience with other Languages (mostly PHP, so this is my first real object-oriented language) My problem, newbie-ish as it is, is the following: I have a model, Article, that returns Articles from the DB. Now, when a certain field of the model (the intro text) contains no data, I want to fill it with a truncated

Windows Vista Issues
This is a repost of a simple question about Windows Vista and R (with answer), along with a heads-up on other Windows Vista issues that people may not be aware of and that may impact R development. 1. The standard package install process fails because the user does not have permission to write to Program Files/R/R-version/library. Apparently the install process has already been modified to give

hosting multiple apps
I am considering creating a web interface for system administration, but it would need a plug-in architecture, adding new UIs as new services are added. I''m thinking about doing this with multiple Rails applications, and I''m curious as to whether mongrel can most multiple apps in a single instance, as opposed to running one for each. Is this possible? Thanks, Mike -- Michael P.

One executable, multiple data sources
I have an application that I am running in Wine, which is the newsreader Agent. When I ran it in Windows, I had one executable file, but multiple data sources, each in its own directory. This let me connect to different news servers, for instance, or have different combinations of newsgroups. In Windows, I could do this by creating different shortcuts, and configuring each one to "Open

Thanks Samba Community!!!
You folks are the greatest. Rolled out my first Samba "member server" today. Read the stuff from SWAT, and it worked the first time on RH7.3, after it failed on RH8 You folks are the best, we're struggling to stay afloat and M$ squeezes us for more. (RH is pushing me to Debian by the day!!!) There will be a lot more Samba in the farm soon. My deepest grattitude. Respectully,

I can do alaw, ulaw and gsm; remote can do g729 and alaw; asterisk wants to translate g729 -> alaw. WHY?
I am having a problem with one of my callers who is using either g729 or alaw.  I can do alaw but not g729 so asterisk should negotiate alaw right?  In fact from the sip debug it looks like it does, but then I get the dreaded "channel.c:5630 set_format: Unable to find a codec translation path: (g729) -> (alaw)" and the call hangs up.  Why? Last minute thought: Is it possible that

File Creation Dates Question
Hi all, I searched the archives for a solution to this issue but didn't find any thing. I have an office with a mix of PCs running ME and XP that use Samba 2.2.7 under RH Linux 7.3 as an archive for mortgage information. When documents are moved to the Samba share, the file creation timestamp on the Linux box reflects the time the files were created on the PCs. What I need is for the

R - lme
Dear R gurus, I am trying to work out the problem given in Nested design - Montgomery - Design of Experiments p.561 I have attached a pdf of the data as well the anova table. It is a mixed model with Supplier as fixed effect and batches within the supplier as random effects. I am able to work out the error stratums as below using aov. Which agrees perfectly with the book example
