No sound in Wine with ALSA loopback devices
Hi,
I recently set up an ALSA-to-JACK bridge (as described in http://alsa.opensrc.org/Jack_and_Loopback_device_as_Alsa-to-Jack_bridge) in order to route non-JACK apps into JACK. Every sounding non-JACK app (even Flash Player) work flawlessly but Wine outputs no sound (in theory, ALSA loopback devices should behave transparently to Wine).
I'm using git version and every audio app I ran in

speexdec and ALSA
List,
I'm not used to work with ALSA, so it was a surprise to me when
testing an ALSA-only system that it did not have /dev/dsp. In this
machine, speexdec throws me an error that it won't work without
/dev/dsp, so I found out that in ALSA there's stuff under /dev/snd,
but everything I tried to make a link to /dev/dsp (say,
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0c) reports as being the wrong IOCTL.

Wine and ALSA
Hi,
I added some nice IP telephone programs and other sound related
applications to the next version of WineTools. The problem is that only
oss sound is reliable. With it it works very nice.
But if during running a program another linux program accesses sound,
the sound output of the Wine program is dying often does not come back.
This is typical as only one program can access the oss

Console ALSA Sound
Hi
... probably one of those RTFM kind of questions (while I'd be happy to know
where a good reference "FM" is :-) )
Has anyone an idea on how to disable the console sound driver. My problem is
that a running asterisk is muting my speakers.
Thank you in advance for your help

ESD driver?
All,
Has there been any discussion of an ESD sound driver
for Wine. The Alsa driver is great, but if I am
playing MP3 files via ESD, wine crashes alot when I
have the ALSA driver for wine loaded. The version of
ESD that I am using has support for ALSA in it. So I
have all my apps talk to ESD and that way I get mixed
sound. Little behind at times, especially in xine, but
at least I get all my

Patch: ogg123 -> esd
Dear developers,
I patched ogg123 so that it can use esd (only local socket currently). In
order to compile you need to copy esd.h from the esound-devel to the
vorbis-tools directory.
Usage:
ogg123 -e -d something file.ogg
the "something" is not important
I don't intend to maintain this patch, but perhaps somebody could make it more
nicer and incorporate it in the

Wine esound/esd sound output
Hi,
I was trying the wine esound output plugin but the sound is really
choppy. On IRC it was noted that only the OSS output worked properly and
that esound implementation was quite crappy.
However I really need esound output since we use an LTSP setup. The
sound if only available through esd.
Are there any possibilities to further tweak the esound settings?
The software in question is windows

esd bug in ogg123
I've run into two problems with ogg123 that appears only when using the
esound driver.
Case 1: pops in output
Audible pops, especially at low volume. Original mp3 file does
not exhibit these pops, nor does oss output from ogg123, nor does
esd output from mpg123.
Things ruled out:
disk speed - the HD is ATA/33 with DMA on. It's a single user

command line .ogg streamer
I'm terribly sorry if this is off-topic, but I've scoured the web for hours
looking for a working .ogg file streamer.
I have thousands of ogg files, and I want to be able to set up a playlist,
enabling any computer on the network to listen to the stream.
Sure, I did it with icecast and liveice when I was using mp3's
but now icecast doesn't come with liveice, (I found the source,
