Problem adding printer using MSRPC
Hi, When I try to add a printer using APW, the printer gets added successfully. However, when I try to add a printer using the MS_RPC addprinter command, the script fails with access denied. Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong. Thanks, Guru. The addprinter vbscript dim oMaster, oPrinter set oMaster = CreateObject("PrintMaster.PrintMaster.1") set oPrinter =

Creating Program Manager groups/launchers
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Is it possible to create groups in Program Manager that persist across invocations of wine? I have tried, but when I relaunch progman I just get an empty screen. I haven't tried to create program launchers, but would like to know that as well. I didn't see anything in the docs I read or a quick google, so I'm not sure if it's

Client driver installation
I've an OpenSuSE based server installed at work that uses Samba to share out the prrinters for our users on the AD that will be replacing our aging Windows 2000 print server. I'm in the process of getting the printer drivers installed for Windows clients. At present, I'm installing the drivers for the RICOH Aficio we have. When I run the following command:?

PrintMaster 7.0 *nearly*, *very* nearly printing properly
I have PrintMaster 7.0 Classic (I assume) and it will in fact print, which is more than it will do on Win XP, but Wine printing is not able to handle the coloured fonts correctly. Is there a tweak that can be applied? By downloading a dll for instance? The only Wine error related to printing was: fixme:commdlg:PRINTDLG_WMCommandA No handling for print quality combo box yet. That didn't

Users w/o acl access appear to be subscribed to public folders (1.1b8)
I noticed this today, I had a user outside of our department test out dovecot. They were using squirrelmail and I noticed that dovecot thinks this user is subscribed to ALL public folders even though a dovecot ACL prevents all access. I'm pretty sure access is still denied. I was able to reproduce this with a guest account I added: l lsub "" "#shared/decs/%" * LSUB

Win2K unable to see shares
I have been unable to get my Samba shares on RedHat 7.3, Samba 2.2.3a to be visible from my Windows 2000 SP1 server. From the DIAGNOSIS.txt tests (results below) I think that nmbd is not working properly, but it stops and starts fine, and a ps -A shows 1 X smbd and 2X(?)nmbd processes running, I have tried the suggestions there without luck and am not sure where to go next. I'd appreciate

Samba4, file permissions not respected
Hi, all, I run the latest Samba4 with Windows 7 clients. I have a share that I created in smb.conf like so: [common] path = /home/pmw/installed/samba/common-share csc policy = manual read only = no Within it, I created a file using a regular user. That file has fine-looking security: that user has full permissions, Everyone has read-only permissions. 'getfattr' on that file

Comment on Wine vs WinXP
Wine will now do something that Windows XP cannot. That is, printing from PrintMaster 7.0 works under Wine (up to a point), whereas it doesn't work at all under WinXP. I think that is maybe a milestone! -- If you wrestle in the mud with a pig. you both get dirty, and the pig likes it. -- Dave Dawson

Using an already installed Linux JRE from WINE
I've installed the Windows application Open WorkBench* which is coded in C, C++ and Java. When I install it under WINE, it installs fine, but when I run it, it gives a 'JRE is not installed' error message. I have a Linux JRE already installed. Do I have to install a Windows JRE? Or is there a way of telling WINE about the Linux JRE I already have installed?

non-consing count
Hi, to count vector elements with some property, the standard idiom seems to be length(which): --8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- x <- c(1,1,0,0,0) count.0 <- length(which(x == 0)) --8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8--- however, this approach allocates and discards 2 vectors: a logical vector of length=length(x) and an

Thanks, removing the compression fixed the problem. I set up a script to checkout and compress for download CVS-only material from Xiphophorus -- http://pmw.myip.org/xiph_cvs/. So far I only have it to download three modules, so if there's anything else, please let me know. Also, if anyone knows how to bypass the interactive password prompt of the CVS, please let me know...

recover lost global function
Since R has the same namespace for functions and variables, > c <- 1 kills the global function, which can be restored by > c <- get("c",mode="function") Is there a way to prevent R from overriding globals or at least warning when I do that or at least warning when I replace a functional value with non-functional? thanks. -- Sam Steingold (http://sds.podval.org/)
