Remote vm system message pickup
Has anyone tried to do a script to pickup an ITSP voicemail. Lesnet provides an option for an overflow mailbox in the event a caller can get to my * box. I'd like my * to poll it and dump any messages found into my general mailbox Any ideas Similarly, a telco mailbox. It at least has the advantage of having stutter dial tone as a trigger Any hints or suggestions welcome D Dave Bour

Semi-OT: useful things to do with XML browsers in phones
Greetings list, It seems that more and more phones these days are coming with XML mini-browsers. I'd like to have a go at developing something useful to use on them, but in all honesty, most of our customers use their phones to make and take calls and very little else. So I'm open to suggestions. What useful applications are you developing for these mini-browsers? What sort of things do

No subject
network outages and recent tests have shown that works well, albeit the switch takes about 20 minutes to propagate the dns updates but otherwise flawless. =20 It's embarrassing and I'm losing credibility when clients are asking if I'm still in business as the phone has dropped way to often in the past few month. Interesting enough all outages to date have been Fridays or Mondays. =20

OT: Blackberry and Asterisk voicemail files.
Hi, I recently upgraded the firmware on my Blackberry 8700 to 4.2, this seems to give it the ability to play wav files. I wondered if anybody out there had managed to get their BB to play the wav files as attached to the Asterisk voicemail emails? Mine seems to ignore the attachment. I am using BES 4.1 for sending these emails out via Exchange 2003 if that makes a difference. thanks Mike

Connections rejected in DUNDi requests
Greetings list, Wondering if anyone's come across this before. I've configured a couple of our servers with a "privatedundi" context to allow calls to still flow between extensions even if they're registered to different servers . The DUNDi lookups seem to work fine, evidenced by the following on the originating server: -- Called

asterisk 1.8 SIP register uri: peer field ?
Hello, Looking the asterisk 1.8 API documentation (http://www.asterisk.org/astdocs/api/index.html), I see a lot of new fields for sip register uris: register => [peer?][transport://]user[@domain][:secret[:authuser]]@host[:port][/extension][~expiry] But the *peer* is not explained anywhere. What it is for ? Regards, Guillaume Bour. -- Guillaume Bour<gbour at proformatique.com>

Error initializing flac stream decoder.
I changed just the FLAC__EntropyCodingMethod_PartitionedRice struct, but it hasn't changed a thing. I'm still getting the same behaviour. typedef struct { unsigned order; unsigned parameters[1 << 6]; unsigned raw_bits[1 << 6]; } FLAC__EntropyCodingMethod_PartitionedRice; Any other thoughts? Solved: Communication in for() loop (Linux version)
Thanks for the advice I've received. FYI - It turns out that the problem was connected to the way R handles pipes and FIFOs, compared to the way the socat command does. (I don't know exactly what, but trying different things solved it!) I found that if you use FIFO() in R AND set up a FIFO connection in a terminal and then use SOCAT to communicate, it becomes reliable (at least for

Samba not working as Master server?
Howdy. I've been attempting to configure Samba 1.9.17p4 as a master local and domain browser. However, my Win95 PC cannot see the network when I run it like this. I have disabled "Browse Master" in file and printer sharing for MS Networks on the PC. My Linux box's IP address is 203.29.178.27, I have a network of 203.29.178.128 with a subnet of 255.255.255.248, and my Windows box

[Semi-OT] How to minimize transaction fees in escrow like environment
I am currently developing an application in which two users exchange goods and money in an escrow like environment. Buyer has some money and wants an item that Seller has. Buyer does not want to pay Seller until Seller ships the item. I am unsure of how to best handle the payment part of my application. Buyer''s money eventually has to end up at Seller and my company would like to

semi-OT: internal IP range
Hi, The other day I went to my friend''s company where her local LAN IP was 37.0.0.8 I was pretty shocked since that IP is not for internal use. So, I asked her system admin about it and he muttered something about classless IP range and went off. Was he right in giving such a range to internal IPs? Also, the netmask was 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway was 37.0.1.x. Is this

[semi-OT] Find position of floated elements
I am trying to find the actual _displayed_ position of a floated element using Javascript. Does anyone know of a technique to do this? I know that per the CSS2 spec, floated elements are removed from the flow and thus don''t really have a position (AFAIK). However, I am trying to find the position in which the item is actually displayed. Prototype''s Position object only

semi-on topic -- textmate question
Apologies in advance. I have been using textmate and am getting to like it more and more. The feature that is turning my crank and frothing my coffee right now is "snippets". Wow! Is this ever cool! And if you aren''t using Textmate, give it a try. Anyhow, my snippets are saving me so much time and so utterly wonderful that like other things in my life that are in

part or semi-partial correlation in R
Hello, I wanted to ask if anybody knows how to calculate part correlation coefficient in R. I have to calculate partial correlation as well as part-correlation. I found different libraries for partial correlation but could not find anything related to part correlation. Semi-automated cloning using powershell scripts
Just in case anybody else ever needs these, here are my semi-automated powershell cloning scripts for Windows domain clients for Samba domain servers. ftp://saf.bio.caltech.edu/pub/software/windows/Cloning.zip They are not very polished, but do what I need, and could serve as a starting point for other sites. These have been tested only on XP SP3. These scripts do not use sysprep, so the

Semi-OT: OpenSource DRM server on CentOS?
Hello, all - I understand that this is moderately OT, but hey, since I plan on running it on top of CentOS.... ;) Please bear with me. For our company's internal use of protected media, I have been asked to investigate any and all kinds of OpenSource DRM servers/services. I wouldn't imagine that (if this exists) an OpenSource DRM server daemon would exist on the stock CentOS release,
