CentOS 3.9
Hi, Red Hat started releasing security advisories and update packages that are part of RHEL3 U9. Still, on RHN there are no RHEL3 U9 ISO images released yet. As usual, CentOS will make available CentOS 3.9 when it is deemed ready. So there is no need to ask when it is going to be released :) Kind regards, -- dag wieers, dag at wieers.com, http://dag.wieers.com/ -- [all I want is a warm

Do you know if there is a plan to fix this? No concrete plan, no. We've been thinking about for quite some time now, but

Reaching definitions on Machine IR post register allocation
Hi Venu, FWIW, I have a pass that does copy propagation after RA [1] (currently only within a basic block) that should be enabled some time in the not-too-distant future. It has been reviewed and accepted, but I'm currently working on getting a slight change to the MachineOperand representation [2] that should make the copy propagation change much simpler. I believe this change to

Unable to allocate dma memory for extra SGL
Hi all; We have a Solaris 10 U9 x86 instance running on Silicon Mechanics / SuperMicro hardware. Occasionally under high load (ZFS scrub for example), the box becomes non-responsive (it continues to respond to ping but nothing else works -- not even the local console). Our only solution is to hard reset after which everything comes up normally. Logs are showing the following: Jan 8

Best practice for full stystem backup - equivelent of ufsdump/ufsrestore
I''m looking for a way to backup my entire system, the rpool zfs pool to an external HDD so that it can be recovered in full if the internal HDD fails. Previously with Solaris 10 using UFS I would use ufsdump and ufsrestore, which worked so well, I was very confident with it. Now ZFS doesn''t have an exact replacement of this so I need to find a best practice to replace it.

Hi Geoff/Krzyssztof, Wouldn't the isRenamable() change be required even for the RDF based copy propagation? Maybe Hexagon does not impose ABI/ISA restrictions which require specific registers to be used in specific contexts. Also, if Geoff's copy propagation pass is invoked post-RA wouldn't it need to handle the x86 ISA feature which allows 8 bit/16 bit values to be moved into a

Problem running zilstat script on a core install server.
We cannot run the zilstat utility (from http://www.richardelling.com/Home/scripts-and-programs-1/zilstat) on an Solaris 10 u9 / x86 installed according SUNWCreq (which is a core install) while it works fine on a similar config but installed with all packages (SUNWCXall) So we know it works in this environment but it seems we miss an essential package here. That causes the dtrace: failed to

Moving rpool disks
We need to move the disks comprising our mirrored rpool on a Solaris 10 U9 x86_64 (not SPARC) system. We''ll be relocating both drives to a different controller in the same system (should go from c1* to c0*). We''re curious as to what the best way is to go about this? We''d love to be able to just relocate the disks and update the system BIOS to boot off the drives in

Hi Venu, This is happening because there is an implicit def of ECX on the COPY instruction. This was an issue on Hexagon as well. Let me give you some background. There are two kinds of implicit defs (and implicit uses, but I'll refer only to defs for brevity): (1) Those that indicate that some physical register (that is not an operand) is modified by a given instruction (EFLAGS is a good

Solaris 10 Samba Configuration
Help, I am having a terrible time configuring Samba on a Solaris 10 server. Seems like I did this years ago with a Solaris 2.6 server and it was nothing to configure. Basically, I have a Solaris 10 U9 server that I'm trying to configure with one filesystem as a public file share. I am trying to connect to it from a Windows 2003 R2 server. I can see the server when I connect to \\SERVERNAME

I would like to preform a t.test to each of the measured variables (sand.silt etc.) with a mean and sd for each of the treatments (up or down), and out put this as a table.... Reaching definitions on Machine IR post register allocation
Hi Krzysztof, In one of your earlier emails in this thread you mentioned that you had some changes which add extra aliases for subregisters. Did you mean for X86? And is it extra register units that you added or aliases? I tried adding extra register units for X86 through some changes in CodeGenRegisters.cpp in TableGen but I am seeing a runtime error in one of my test cases possibly due to the

problems with the serial port
Hello all, I know there have been some posts on this topic before, but I am very new to this, so I had some trouble decifering exactly what I have to do to get this working. I am trying to get a program which accesses the serial port to receive data from a 3 degree of freedom tracking device to work under linux. The GUI loads just fine, but then I get an error from the program (not WINE) that

Tuning disk failure detection?
We recently had a disk fail on one of our whitebox (SuperMicro) ZFS arrays (Solaris 10 U9). The disk began throwing errors like this: May 5 04:33:44 dev-zfs4 scsi: [ID 243001 kern.warning] WARNING: /pci at 0,0/pci8086,3410 at 9/pci15d9,400 at 0 (mpt_sas0): May 5 04:33:44 dev-zfs4 mptsas_handle_event_sync: IOCStatus=0x8000, IOCLogInfo=0x31110610 And errors for the drive were

online increase of zfs after LUN increase ?
Hello, There is a feature of zfs (autoexpand, or zpool online -e ) that it can consume the increased LUN immediately and increase the zpool size. That would be a very useful ( vital ) feature in enterprise environment. Though when I tried to use it, it did not work. LUN expanded and visible in format, but zpool did not increase. I found a bug SUNBUG:6430818 (Solaris Does Not Automatically

Migrating zpool to new drives with 4K Sectors
Hi ZFS Discuss, I have a 8x 1TB RAIDZ running on Samsung 1TB 5400rpm drives with 512b sectors. I will be replacing all of these with 8x Western Digital 2TB drives with support for 4K sectors. The replacement plan will be to swap out each of the 8 drives until all are replaced and the new size (~16TB) is available with a `zfs scrub`. My question is, how do I do this and also factor in the new

ZFS vs mpxio vs cfgadm in Solaris.
Folks, I''m trying to figure out whether we should give ZFS / mpxio a shot on one of our research servers, or simply skip it (as we have previously).
