Limit MOH processes
You could try to use the native mp3 support for MOH if you really want mp3 support. It is a lot better than using mpg123 IMHO. mpg123 kept doing nasty things to my system :) See http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk%20config%20musicon hold.conf there is a section about the native support. mpg123
When I start * I get 6 mpg123 processes start as well. Is this normal? Often after a couple of days these mpg123 processes start to consume cpu and I have to kill them off. I do not have a sound card in the server and I have noload => chan_oss.so Simon

music on hold without mpg123
Hello list, after the last time that mpg123 wen ballistic on our production system, we decided to skip mp3 playback altogether and to go for raw files. After half an hour playing with mpg123 and sox parameters in order to translate a mp3 file to a wav file that can be streamed back through * with no need for an mp3 decoder, I thought I'd post the result to the list to avoid wasting

No music on hold?
Hi all, I've got Asterisk 1.2.10 up and running on Debian using the back ports. I noticed that it didn't come with mpg123 or depend on it and I believe I read somewhere that asterisk now handles it's own mp3 playback? Is this true? If so I must have a problem, because I hear no music when putting someone on hold. When looking at the console when putting someone on hold, I see

MOH problems
I am trying to music on hold but I am having all sorts of problems with it. I am running RH9 and the latest version of Asterisk as of yesterday. Here is what I did to test it: 1. I manually deleted the mpg123 softlink to mpg321. 2. I downloaded mpg123-0.59r-1.n0i.src.rpm, compiled and installed the the archive and loaded ztdummy.o module. 3. I threw a couple extra files in the mohmp3 directory

MP3 streams for MOH: idea
[thread change, different topic] >is there a clean way to have MOH (Music on Hold) source >its audio from say a MS-ASF streem ??? > >got a radio station that wants to have their MOH come >from their ASF based netbroadcast I have run out of time for fooling around today, but I started to think about this one but have no time (or ability) to build this little glue program.

still some moh troubles
Hi, After following the suggestions on the mailing lists and the wiki I'm still experiencing choppy moh. The song plays but with frequent noise parts. - I'm using asterisk 1.2.4 on our production server and 1.2.7 on the test server. - native moh with .gsm and .pcm formats (according to http://astrecipes.net/?n=152) - compiled ztdummy as a timing source any pointers on how to dig deeper

Asterisk high load when streaming MOH
Hi list, I've always about 50 concurrent SIP callers listening to several MOH streams (fed via mpg123) on Asterisk 11.4.0, 4x 2.2 GHz and the CPU usage is always at about 250% causing stuttering of the streams and delays when using Read() and Playback() (overall everything is just really slow/delayed). I've seen Asterisk doing that when the MOH stream that was fed via mpg123 was

MOH - 3 processes of mpg321 taking 20%CPU each -normal ?
No, DON'T use mpg321, it will not work. Make sure you're using mpg123. MOH failures (bad quality with interruptions)
Hi ! :) Does someone have an idea of the reason why my MusicOnHold (with clean mp3 downloaded from http://aussievoip.com.au/wiki-MOH) is always having interruptions and micro-cuts ? No high load of the system, no swap, no hard disk r/w, mpg123 seems running well... nothing ! Except a little message at startup : "Warning, flexibel rate not heavily tested!" I'm getting

Weird experience with MOH
Hi I thought I share this one, just in case this is an indication of some bug ... When I was trying to use music on hold at first, I didn't bother to copy any music into /var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3 since there was a sample- hold.mp3 in there which played just fine in a standalone MP3 player. But after uncommenting one of the lines in musiconhold.conf and doing reload on the console, there

MOH/mpg123 broken when running asterisk as non-root?
Hi guys, For the first time, I'm attempting to run asterisk as a non-root user for all of the obvious reasons. I'm attempting this with asterisk-1.0-RC2, based on the fairly straightforward directions found here: http://voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+non-root The only problem I can't get figured out is my mpg123 processes not being spawned properly. There's

help on MOH config, pretty close?
Trying to test the music on hold function and can't seem to get it to work. If anyone has it running, could you give me a clue? (I have googled and found lots of questions, but no real suggestions.) I downloaded and installed the mpg123 package. From the RH9 console I can start the executable and hear the music via the speakers. The executable is located in /usr/bin. (That works!) I set the

MOH Server
Has anyone managed to set up a moh server for Asterisk? Reason would be to offload processing off the asterisk box, onto another system. The wiki is a bit light on details. If anyone managed to get it up and working, what software did you use on the server side, and what client app did you use? Mpg123? Mpg321? Madplayer? Something else? Also, putting legal ramifications aside, it'd be nifty

can't CLI> STOP NOW by zombie MOH
I am using CVS-v1-0-04/20/05-12:31:26. Windows Messenger5.1 works MOH fine. After I stop MOH on Windows Messenger, if the hungup signal could not send to *, the sip channel(e.g.,SIP/52001-08ca) for this MOH remains. Then the user trys again MOH, a new sip channel starts. And again the hugup signal can not send to *,......... When I 'stop now' from CLI> , * cleanups the remaining sip

slim server for moh
Hello, I have installed SlimServer for Windows on my desktop and Asterisk on a Red Hat Linux machine. I am able to play mp3's for music on hold when mp3s are on the Linux server, and to play streaming mp3's with Windows Media Player and Winamp on Windows using the slim server. I also have mpg123 on my Linux, apparently installed correctly, since it works for local moh. I put the
