Simple backup of maildir folder
Hi,
I want to do a simple backup of my maildir. I read here that maildirlock
is not to count on in the future and the recommended option was to use
doveadm backup. However, it seems that this requires to setup another
dovecot server.
My questions are:
- How much to I need to configure this new server? Do I need to setup
user by user, or even install postfix (that's where my users are

Reverse-ATA : Using PSTN lines to connect to Asterisk
Hi,
I'm looking for a few pointers on using ATA to connect Asterisk to the PSTN.
Basically, I'm running a Hosted PBX service, and in urban centers I can
usually get SIP or PRIs. Since I sell my customers SIP hardphones, the data
flow is like this:
Customer's SIP Hardphone ---- My own Asterisk ----- Outside lines
But when it comes to smaller villages (I deal with people in tiny

Doveadm Backup issues
Hi,
I'm trying to use doveadm backup but I'm having a few issues.
When trying locally:
`doveadm backup -D -A maildir:/usr/local/backup`
It results that no mailbox is separated by user - all seems to sync on
the same folder, messing up with the folder structure of the original
maildir.
When trying remotely:
`doveadm backup -D -A -N ssh -i mykey root at myremotebackup.com:/backup

Here, SOLR itself searches a quarter million mails in split seconds and
returns very good results. That is on a low memory

Trying to use solr
Hi,
I am finally trying to use an fts engine with dovecot. My version is
2.3.7.2 under Ubuntu 20.04.
I installed solr 7.7.3 and then 8.6.0 to see if this was a
version-related error. I copied the schema from 7.7.0 as many people
said this was fine.
I get the following error when trying to reindex a user's mailbox:
doveadm(francis at francisaugusto.com): Error: fts_solr: Indexing failed:

If rsync is not fast... then how about doing a snapshot and then rsync

Transfering calls or using any feature
Guys, this is puzzling.
Seems I cant use any of the feautes (call transfer, record call, etc)
defined in features.conf when a call comes in thru zap and I answer it on
hardphones... Although I CAN use them when Im the one that originates the
call, when received I just cant.
My dialplan includes wtWT on all Dial cmds just to be sure but it doesn't
seem to be working.
Any pointers?

Help - is voip good for in-house calls?
Hi there everyone!
I work at an office where we plant to have about 12-15 phone
extensions. Costs of PBX are cheaper, but they are not expandable and,
as the office is brand new, I want to use all modern stuff.
My question is: if I buy 12-15 Grandstream Budgetone 101 phones, and
install and asterisk server, as well as a Digium TDM400 for POTS
access, will I have the same voice quality and

If I understand your question correctly (I may be missing context), you
can use dsync for that,

Strategy for fts and Replication
Hi Francis,
next to fts-solr there was fts-lucene. But that Lucene there seems heavily outdated why the Dovecot docs also suggest using Solr. Elasticsearch probably is similar to Solr but the later is maintained by Dovecot team.
I started with downloading the Solr binary distribution to Debian with JRE preinstalled and things were running like after 10 min. Yes it?s a bit more complicated to

Doveadm Backup issues
Hi,
As said below, I am trying to use doveadm backup. I made some progress,
but I think I misunderstand some of the basic principles behind the
command.
My main issue is: when using the -A flag, is there a way to create the
backup user on the remote server if it doesn't exist there?
Another related question: if backing up on another location on the same
computer, using -A doesn't

Strategy for fts and Replication
Hi there,
I got successfully to replicate my mail server to another dovecot
install using dsync, mainly for redundancy, and it works great.
I want to try to install fts, as some of the mailboxes have tens of
thousands of messages, and it takes minutes to get some results when
searching via IMAP on a Roundcube interface.
I want to experiment with fts-solr first, and firstly on my redundant

External BRI - is there such thing?
Hello folks!
I wonder if, the same way we've got external FXO's (SIPURA's and the
like), there is the possibility of having external BRI's so ISDN lines
could be connected to Asterisk via LAN.
I am considering running Asterisk on a MacOS X machine, and, even if I
opt for Linux on an i486 machine, I'd still like to go external.
Any comments on this would be higly appreciated.
