Subscribe/Notify MWI not working for non-numeric accounts w/X-Lite
ok this is a wired problem. when i use X-Lite - after i register with
asterisk X-lite sends a subscribe/notify request to asterisk to
determine if the account has any messages waiting.
if i create a sip.conf account using:
user 12345 with a voicemail box 12345 - MWI works
user jwolosuk with a voicemail box 12345 MWI fails (gets a 404 not found
upon a subscribe)
does anyone have a clue why

Load balance Asterisk servers?
We are looking to be able to put a device in front of an array of
Asterisk systems which would do the job of load balancing them.
We would store all the particulars on one or more MySQL servers.
What want to accomplish is to have all calls sent to/from a single IP,
then push the calls off to another Asterisk server in the array. If
one server goes out, we are hoping there will be no effect other

load balancing SIP extensions
What I would like to do is have two identical *
servers which accept registrations of sip extensions
4000-4999.
If I define a rrDNS or LinuxHA then I should have
load-balanced registrations.
However, say ext. 4001 is registered on *1 and 4002 is
registered on *2, if 4001 tries to call 4002 then I
would like to do something like:
- lookup 4002 on *1, try to establish a call if it's

Saving Dialplan in CLI
Is there anyway to unset the extensions.conf definition of
writeprotect=yes while in the CLI interface (or by other mechanism) to
enable the dialplan save command? I accidentally overwrote my
extensions.conf but still have a running copy of asterisk with the old
dial plan running in memory. while it would not be difficult for me to
rebuild what I lost - it would be easier if I could just save

SLA Appearance between 2 Cisco 7960's (SIP)
Has anyone had any success with getting SLA going between 2 SIP phones?
(Particularly a set of Cisco 79xx's) The SLA document that comes with
the asterisk source is about as clear as mud.
Does anyone have a working sip.conf, sla.conf, and extensions.conf that
I can use for reference?
The part I'm most confused about is how to build the lines in sip.conf
and how the phones should

Maximum Number of Calls Asterisk Can Handle
Can anyone share their experience on the maximum number of calls a given
asterisk box/asterisk software can handle?
I see the asterisk business edition can handle up to 240 simultaneously
with appropriate licensing, but that doesn't seem to be many at all.
For now, I plan to use the stable open source versions - would it be
reasonable to say that it is more of hardware limitation on the

Asterisk Realtime woes
I have configured asterisk realtime to work with two servers and a seperate MySQL DB.
Each sip client registers which server it is connected to in the MySQL DB. This works great as long as the clients are
1. On the same network
2. Behind a NAT and connected to the same asterisk server as the caller.
However I need this configuration to work for "NAT-ed" clients on different asterisk

Using DUNDi in a failover environment
Greetings list,
There have been quite a few posts on the list over the last few months about using DUNDi to ensure users are always reachable even when logged into different asterisk boxes (as part of a load balancing cluster).
For example, yesterday, this was in a post: (Olle Johansson)
" In combination with Dundi and the regexten= system, it's even more dynamic."
Are there any

How many maximum SIP Registrations can Asterisk Handle
Hi All,
I am new to this community and just subscribed.
We have Asterisk running in production but I could not find out in documentation as well as web that how many maximum number of registrations an Asterisk Server can support. We have it on a 1.4 GHz Processor, 2 GB RAM and 40 GB HDD IBM Server. Please suggest urgently.
Thanks.
Best Regards,

SIP to IAX?
Hi all!
I am looking for some software that would work as a proxy between a SIP
device (SIP phones and ATA boxes) and the Asterisk system running IAX. The
reason is that I can only get IAX trow the firewalls, and can't change the
settings.
One solution I am using are getting several Asterisk system communicate trow
IAX bout in this case would I rater have every persons computer act as a
proxy

Pointers to replace astdb
Hi listers,
We want to implement one call center with asterisk. The idea is it should be
scalable, with openser as an dispatcher and bunch of asterisk servers to do
ACD, Queues, Agents things... Easy to say :(
Look closely to the current asterisk, we do see some problem:
- SIP registrations was stored in astdb.
- And queue members also was stored in astdb.
- ...
asterisk was built as

Large Asterisk installarions (~10, 000 extensions), preferably at universities
Hello,
Our university has to upgrade soon its old Nortel PBX's which holds around
10,000 extensions tied to 5 PBXes. Up to now we thought about commercial
solutions but now there is a window openning for open source solution.
However, I need examples to convince that this solution is feasible, and
preferably at other universities.
Are there any pointers for such installations?

How can I copy all the contenent of the asterisk database to another
machine?
I want copy all the active sessions from one asterisk@home to another one
and running on the second(this I can do using vrrp protocol, it isn't a
problem), I want copy only all the active sessions and softphone

Point-to-Point SIP link without registration
Greetings list,
I need to set up a point to point SIP connection between two devices without either of them registering with a registrar/proxy/etc. at all. The devices I've tested so far all seem to insist on having a registration before they'll make or take calls.
One of the devices needs to be an ATA with an FXO port (e.g. Sipura/Linksys SPA-3000/3102), the other device can be either

OPENSER / SER and Asterisk
While reading about how to maximize capabilities in asterisk i have
read about SER and OpenSER.
The sites do not explain to newbies (maybe that's on purpose) what are
the benefits of using those products tied with asterisk (or is SER an
asterisk replacement??)
Can someone give me an idea of what's the usage for open(ser) and asterisk?
is it for scalability?
should I run it in the same

OpenSer/Asterisk PBX solution
We have been working a OpenSer/Asterisk solution to replace our Avaya
PBXs.The OpenSer is to provide scalability and the Asterisk to provide
rich features.I know this has been many times for calling card platforms
but I'm not sure if anyone has a good scalable solution they are using on
their virtual PBX or in a CPE PBX environment? If so I would like to talk
to them about buy their deploying,

Feedback from VON expo!Infoon*HAandPolycomphone!!
Hey,
You know, the Digium guys said both are good. They said the the DNS method is better because you dont have the extra point of failure (SER) but said the SER method is better in that it gives you more exact control in the handling of the calls and registration.
They did acknowledge there would be a possible downtime only for incoming calls to users with dynamic IPs if the

SER/OpenSER, I Finally Get It.............General Observation
Sorry if this hit the list twice, sent out yesterday, but didn't see it show up.
Hi All,
Can Asterisk be used as a SIP proxy, blah, blah, blah???
I've glanced over questions like this through the years, with a good idea on
what a SIP proxy is and what Asterisk is and IS NOT. I never really took
the time to lab-up SER and test drive it to see what advantages might be
gained from using
