Hi, I'm looking for IBM hardware to support: 100 SIP hard phone users 10 fax machines on SIP ata's maybe later an additional 100 sip soft phones. Initially, all calls will be through PRI. Some conferencing. Don't know yet if this will even get used. Using 1.4 + ( probably business edition ) I'm looking for anyone who some experience / gotchas. I've google'd and

ISDN / Analog
Phil, It sounds like your carrier is just using a channel bank to split off six of your E1 channels into analog FXO ports. You will want this for fax lines, security systems, and dialup connections since doing this over VoIP/Asterisk can be problematic. It is best to keep these lines out of the PBX. I have done several implementations on IBM x305 and x306 servers and they work great. I

Re: Minimum CPU required for >60 calls
Adam, I thought Andrew Kohlsmith gave the individual good advice without intentionally malaciously spitting in the guys face. For the question, " 'Whats the ' Minimum CPU required for 60 calls? " I think a Pentium 3, high end, which is cheap right now, should do fine, but you will need either 3 T-1s or arrange for the calls to come in via SIP, but you will still need more

OT: Hardware upgrade help
I would like to upgrade my system to a 64 bit machine. I'd like to find a bare bones platform to build on. I'm not looking to spend a lot of money on this as it is a home system. I looked on the CentOS sponsor page but only saw hosting services. I haven't kept up with hardware in years so I'm dumber than dirt on what's out there. I would prefer a desktop so I can stack it.

Hardware Requirements for qdisc htb/sfq
I am planning to replace our cisco 7200 core router with Linux. We currently serve around 1500 (3/4 DSL - different router) customers with probably half of them being concurrent at any given time. We have a fiber network and customers currently aren''t managed as far as how much bandwidth they can use at anytime. Therefore I have constructed a working tc qdisc Linux router as a test. It

The asterisk server will get an E1(pri) via one

Recommended hardware
Still finding my feet here. I need a server which can take approx 100 sip users accessing 24 channels through pri. Approx 20 concurrent calls. 6000 calls a month. Are there any "rules of thumb" when it comes to sizing hardware. I've checked the wiki but nothing close to what I need plus some of the information is really old now and may not be relevant. Also, what server

DRBD very slow....
Hello all, we have a new setup with xen on centos5.3 I run drbd from lvm volumes to mirror data between the two servers. both servers are 1U nec rack mounts with 8GB RAM, 2x mirrored 1TB seagate satas. The one is a dual core xeon, and the other a quad-core xeon. I have a gigabit crossover link between the two with an MTU of 9000 on each end. I currently have 6 drbds mirroring across that

centos 5.1 install failure
Greetings. I am attempting to install 5.1 x86_64, but it is dumping out during the post-install section. I was able to send a debug to a remote system. I've never looked through an install debug log before, but everything seems to be in order until after the "tar" install, at which point I get the following error: error: db4 error(-30977) from dbcursor->c_put:

Simple setup ...
Hi, I'm currently looking to run Asterisk in the office to replace an old PBX and would appreciate a little help. We are moving offices and will have 8 digital lines. My questions are: As there are 8 digital lines is this known as PRI? Which Digium card would be the best fit? Would you recommend looking at the echo cancellation cards? We are UK based: is caller id supported by Asterisk

Hardware advice for 100 extensions, routing via ISDN
I would be grateful for some comments on our proposed machine specs for a new Asterisk installation at a client with an initial 70 extensions. The system should be able to handle 100 extensions. The system will have the following main features: - PSTN connection via ISDN 30, dealing with all incoming calls. Outgoing will be through ISDN initially - 70-100 Snom 300 handsets - 1-2

Currently this machine is being used for calling out to their own people as well other programs being run. anyway they wish to start using it for a 30 person conference bridge. I presume this is no issue??? I am running centos 64 and asterisk 1.4.30 I was thinking they might need to expand the card to a

- Advice on NetFinity 5000 series
I have an opportunity to pick up a couple of NetFinity 5500's 4 way Xeon 550's w/ 2 gig RAM for very little $$$ I have seen this: http://www.mail-archive.com/asterisk-dev@lists.digium.com/msg00719.html In it, there is a passing remark to the Digium cards having problems with NetFinity's. Can anyone here comment on whether this is still an issue with * 1.0? It'd be a bummer if
