high pitched tone and message on answer
Hi, I can dial in from pots using a single port analog fxs card once, but if
I hang up and dial again within 10-20 seconds, I get this high pitched tone
then a message to enter digits. I had assumed this was the privacy feature,
but I don't have it enabled in my extensions. What could be causing this?
Also if I dial in again its fine, then not, then fine, etc..... I noticed
in debuging that

Re: High pitched whine with Speex
Changing from using floats to shorts did fix the high pitched tone
problem. I'm having other problems but I'll look into it more first.

Re: High pitched whine with Speex
When I just copy the microphone input buffer to the output buffer the
sound plays OK. But if I encode and decode the buffer through Speex I
get a high pitched constant tone in the background. I actually do hear
my voice speaking when I talk, but it's faint and much quieter than the
tone.
Here's what my data looks like:
Input is the first 5 floats of each input buffer.
Output is

"skipping" / dropped audio, high-pitched squeal on X100P channels..
This is driving me nuts. Any help appreciated.
I have a couple of annoying problems in my Asterisk box, and I'll be
dipped if I can figure them out. The box in question is an Asterisk
CVS-05/03/04 (1.0) checkout, using the Zaptel drivers of the same
vintage from CVS. There are two X100P cards, and one TDM400P with a
single FXS module. The machine is an Athlon 2400XP CPU, Debian

SYSLINUX 2.06 released
I have released SYSLINUX 2.06; it's basically identical to 2.06-pre4.
I'm doing this now because the bug fixes are so major and because I am
not sure I'll be around next week.
-hpa
2.06 is a bug fix release.
Changes in 2.06:
* ALL: Fix problem that would occationally cause a
boot failure, depending on the length of the kernel.
* ISOLINUX: Fix problem

Realtime question
Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone has had much experience with Realtime
Asterisk. I like the ability to setup my extensions and voicemail boxes
in MySQL, but I have a huge worry. What if MySQL crashes. I played with
rtcachefriends, but can't seem to find a way to have asterisk store the
extension information to ensure the phones will continue to work even if
MySQL has a hiccup.

fatal: Not enough entropy in RNG
Hi,
I'm running openssh 2.1.1p4 on Solaris 7 (sparc). Occationally, when I
boot up the server, the startup script I wrote to start sshd fails to start
sshd with the following error:
fatal: Not enough entropy in RNG
What am I doing wrong??
Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?
Is just restarting sshd a valid thing to do??
Thanks for any thoughts,
David

Fast Busy Followup
So I might have a bit of a more narrow question from my earlier one.
Previous, I had been wondering what would cause a phone dialing into a
DID that connects to the asterisk box to get a fast busy.
I've noticed the following message:
chan_zap.c: Ring requested on unconfigured channel 0/1 span 2
Any idea what would give me this error? And would this cause a fast busy?
Thanks again everyone

Cleaning Up My Process Table
I'm upgrading my primary server from RH 7.2 to CentOS-4.3.ServerCD. I
REALLY like the ServerCD. Who needs all the fluff that comes with a
standard distro? If I want a system-config-gooey I can run Xnest [1]
and ssh -X from my laptop. Anyway I have two questions:
1) How can I collectively stop all the NFS, portmap, whatever? I'm hoping
it can be manipulated as a group because occationally

Memory Usage with openSSH 4.0
I have friends running sshd on their emebedded ppc
linux systems at two universities. Normally sshd takes
about 3M of memory and they have about 16M freemem
showed in /proc/meminfo. But occationally (every 1 or
2 weeks) they see free memory goes down really fast
and they lose 10M in 1 minute. If they disable sshd by
blocking the port access, this does not happen any
more.
The device is not behind

Calls for volunteers (take 2)
Hi all,
I would really appreciate it if someone would be willing to deal with
the messages to the list that get set out for moderation. Most of them
are just round file material, but occationally real messages get stuck.
Also, if someone would be willing to give the documentation and web
pages a very much needed facelift, that would be super. I'm honestly
thinking about hiring a tech

A question on networking (CentOS 6)
I will get back to the mailing list.?? But to answer your questions, yes the IP addresses and interface names are as expected (as before) with the new MAC/HW addresses.? I have someone else looking into it because when we plugged in the cable the light on the card did not light up.?? when we connect the pair server to another separate server it did.? Once the server is back up I will try these

Star Wars Echo Sound
We have a location that is having a really odd issue. We have a sangoma
POTs card. We are running software echo cancellation with the card
(through asterisk) to try to eliminate some major echoing problems. I've
turned on both EC and echotrain, which seemed to have gotten rid of the
echo for the most part. However, we are now running into an issue where
the outside caller hears a star wars

Interesting admin info: ipmitool
I've used ipmitool any number of times, but never for more than getting
info, or setting the server name on a Dell LCD screen. However, I had a
server screaming about intruder alert, intruder alert, er, "Chassis
intrusion detected", and I thought there might be a way to shut it up
(this after pulling the server and reseating the lid). A quick google
found, on the first page, an 8

monty's branch test
Hello!
I tested some songs with the new code that Monty merged into the snapshot.
It works better than the previous code ;-), but I noticed some strange
noises made at high frequencies, even at very high bitrates : a continuous,
high-pitched noise is added over the medium voice, and it sounds like a
whistle. The previous code didn't do that. On the other hand, very low
bitrates sound much

Noise with Grandstream/PSTN
Up until yesterday I've had a lot of high pitched noise when connecting
a BT101 to the PSTN via the X100P. I was using an Asus A7V133 with raid
motherboard and an 850 AMD Duron. Over the weekend I thought I'd try
another machine. I had an HP Vectra 400 Mhz PII MMX with 128 Mb RAM
available, today no noise at all.
Now I must see if the Vectra is up to the job.

PRI DCHAN Errors
Hey all,
I had a user complaining of calls which were dropping mid-conversation.
I looked into the time of one of the calls, and saw the following:

Using Primary channel 28 as D-channel anyway!
Apr 4 12:13:05 WARNING[6660] channel.c: Avoided initial deadlock for

cannot transfer to call waiting call on ip500
So far no one I have talked to has either had this issue or does not know a answer. I currently run asterisk 1.0.9.
I have two issues to deal with.
1. The caller waiting caller ID does not show on the uniden hand held that is hooked to a sipura spa 1000 or my Polycom ip500.
2. When a caller is calling in and I hear the caller waiting beep on the line when talking with somone, is there no way

Safe to UNPROTECT() when object is assigned to a list?
Hi,
I'm troubleshooting some native code on Windows that very occationally
(and semi-randomly) crashes R. Already looked at "everything", I just
want to double check that it is safe to UNPROTECT() allocated
variables as soon as they are assigned to, say, a PROTECTed list.
