Asterisk to Cisco's Rescue...again...Authenticate LD Calls
Hi All,
Just wanted to share a story:
We turned up a new customer yesterday evening, typical situation, Cisco 2600
Router with T1 PRI card pointed to the customer's analog PBX with 2 data
T1's linked back to our network. The router PRI was configured as a gateway
on our CCM 4, like we've done numerous times in the past. The customer
needed LD Authorization codes enabled, got

Split access on a single interface
Hi you all,
I''m working on outbound load-balancing between multiple (actually 2) ISPs.
Examples given in docs/articles are perfectly working, but I would like to
go a bit further.
My idea would be to have a "cheap" LinkProof (from Radwar) box, and the
major difference between this box and a Linux solution is that a LinkProof
can be installed without changing the IP addressing.

trouble debugging
I want to switch away from bincimap, and I am having some trouble getting
dovecot up and running. Something isn't working (I suspect it's a permissions
problem) but the logs aren't really telling me anything interesting.
I can authenticate and get a list of folders, but when I try to select a folder,
I get the "Internal error" message that tells me to check the server

DHCP Updates to DNS - Multiple Entries with Same IP
Thank you to Rowland, L.P.H. van Belle, the entire samba team, and others that help. I've been running samba in our fire department for over a year.
I'm running a self compiled samba version 4.11.9, bind version 9.11.3, BIND9_DLZ, isc-dhcp-server version 4.3.5 with fail over (between the 2 DC's) on Ubuntu 18.04 on Odroid N2 aarch64. I have 2 identical DC's on the network FDDC10

Calling Number Verification Number? for BellSouth/AT&T
BellSouth (now AT&T) has a number you can dial and it will play back
voice prompts with your calling number? It's used by their techs with a
buttset in identifying analog 1FB lines...
Eg Dial 704-210-3233, it answers
"Seven-Zero-Four-Five-Five-Nine-Two-One-Two-Two" if your dialing from

More AFS maildir debugging
There appears to be some sort of a race condition when accessing a maildir
directory for the first time with dovecot. I was getting a non-specific error
trying to select INBOX, but when I stepped through it with a debugger it worked.
Deleting the dovecot files and running the select again it failed. I started
playing with it again just now, and when attempting to access Sent, I actually

Some info about Cisco's 79xx, and Sipura's phones
Hello folks,
I've did some tests with different phones and Asterisk last two days and
here are some results, which I want to share with audience.
Cisco's 79xx and Sipura's phones/adapters on INVITE always reply with their
preferred codec.
So, for example, if Cisco's/Sipura's phone has preferred_codec g729a(18) and
it receives INVITE from UA which has preferred codec

Cisco 7905/7912 SIP image location (on Cisco's site)
Hello all,
I feel dumb asking this, but does anyone have a link to the SIP
firmware for the 7912 on Cisco's site?
I have a SmartNet contract, but I just can't find the link (you can
search for "7960 sip firmware" and find that fast).
Thanks for the help,

I had exactly the same issue with dual dhcp servers. I solved it by
modifying the script to do conditional updates.

X-UID gaps cause Dovecot/IMAP to hang
Hi,
When the Dovecot 1.0.rc19 IMAP server encounters X-UID headers with
gaps in them, it hangs indefinitely. I've attached a sample mailbox (in
mbox format) which repeatably exhibits this behavior. The mbox contains
only three messages with the following X-UIDs in order: 774, 785, 787.
If I remove the X-UID headers from each message, Dovecot handles the
mailbox without any problems. UW-IMAP

Weighted Average application on Summary Dataset
Hi,
I have 2 huge datasets - May and Jun - a miniscule sample of one is given
below. I am trying to do 2 things with these datasets. I need to verify if
the weighted average of variable A for a Reason in Jun is same/different
from the same for May. To do this I am first computing the weighted average
for each SubReason using a function I wrote.
Where I need help is applying the function on both

Cisco's description of echo
We are having trouble with an installation that is getting a lot of echo on
some calls. The installation is all SIP phones and they have a VoIP provider.
When we call through the voip provider and into another of their customers
(voip throughout) there is no echo problem. If we call in their landline,
through the TDM400's FXO to one of the SIP phones, there is no echo problem.

Win2K3 Server, in Terminal Session, Problem connecting to SAMBA server.
I have looked for several days and can not find the answer to my problem, but
I'm sure it has to be a simple issue. I'm trying to map drives inside Windows
Server 2003 Terminal Session from a local Samba server but can't get connected.
I figure the problem is in Windows Registry but can't find web page on what
needs to be changed to get this working.
I built a new Windows 2003

rescue?
Probably a simple question, but humor me:
Let''s say I have a page (in Rails) that lets a user type a shell
command (say, ''ping blah.com'') into a form and it fires off a worker
that then updates that page using AJAX (all of this is working so far).
How would I correctly wrap the worker in a begin..rescue so that it
spits out ''invalid command''
