7912 phones loosing registration
I have a handful of 7912's connected to my asterisk 1.2.14 server. (6 to
be exact).
I get the X on the display sometimes for loosing registration.
I have the config file for the 7912's
SipRegInterval: 60
and asterisk is the default.
; maxexpirey=3600
;defaultexpirey=120
I've not changed them.
How can I keep these phones online and stop loosing registration?
Thanks,
Jerry

video phones on 1.4.7
I have 3 phones
P1 is a non video phone - grandstream
P2 is a Grandstream GXV3000
P3 is a Grandstream GXV3000
Using P1 to place a call to P2 I get audio only (as expected).
Then on P1 I transfer the call to P3 and I still only get audio.
At this point shouldn't the two video phones P2 and P3 say
to each other we are video and so startup the video stream???
This is not working at this time?

Cisco 79XX phones not talking to asterisk
Hi all,
I have setup my Cisco 79XX phone. Did the tftp, put the config files in the
right location with the right names. Booted my phone, it does the tftp
things,
the screen shows my extensions everything seems fine. However, when I
come offhook and try to dial 11 which is just a playback of demo-congrats
in the dialplan the phone says
Calling Out (INV)

Using DTrace to locate memory leak
Howdy,
I am attempting to isolate the location of a memory leak in a 4GL program,
and have hit a bit of a snag. When I LD_PRELOAD libumem and run the

nouveau driver one centos 6
I "wish" to not load the or even install the nouveau driver by default.
I want to use the NVIDIA binary driver.
I have tried a number of things:
1) in my kickstart package section add the line:
-xorg-x11-drv-nouveau
This did not work - it was still installed.
2) use the nvidia installer and it asks to create a modprobe.conf file
to blacklist
the driver. I said yes thats what I want.

install on via 800mhz box 4.4
I tried install 4.4 on an old Via 800mhz box. i386 of course.
The installer dies pretty quick.
I thought the via was i386 compatible?
Is there something special to do.

Sip phones transfer not working.
I have a Cisco 7960 & IpDialogs that I am not able to use the transfer button on it. What happens is that it puts the call on hold and then it gives you a dial tone. You can dial but it will not transfer the call. What we are trying to do is transfer to extension 700 for parking so another person can pick up the line. We can not use the # key to do this due to we have several IVR's

WIFI phones on asterisk
I have used WIP300, hitachi 5000 wireless phones on
asterisk and have had good success.
However, I am looking for a WIFI phone with integrated
belt clip. Has anyone found any?
I have tried after market clips and holders and those just
don't work.
THanks for sharing if someone has found something
that works with asterisk.

Howdy,
I just installed the crossbow snapshot from opensolaris.org, and bumped
into an issue when attempting to create a virtual nic:
$ dladm create-vnic -i 192.168.1.101 -d ni0 2
dladm: VNIC creation failed: No such file or directory (unknown

When I truss the process, it looks like it''s failing when attempting to

help with sip 401 unauthorized
I am getting a SIP 401 unauthorized message.
My public IP or PIP is being pre-routed with iptables to goto an
internal IP or IIP
All the polycom phones in the office point to the IIP. they work fine.
I have 2 external phones that are registering to the PIP. I see the
register attempt
as I am getting the 401 unauthorized message. For the 2 external phones
both have nat=1 enabled.

Server for 25-30 phones, sip trunks over the net
What cpu/memmory configurations have people had good luck with for a
small office asterisk server... (polycom's/poe linksys)
Dell's got their $200 SC440 going again until the 12th... and I'm
thinking it might be just the ticket...

sip phones in different private networks have one way audio
Hello
I have one phone (phone1) in one network, the other (phone2) in public
network. both can call the other side; phone1 can be heard by phone2, phone2
can't be heard. I don't have NAT set on both end, but I use rtpproxy on SER.
Is NAT still necessary to be set on both phones?
Thank you!

random one way audio and noise between SIP phones on same LAN
Hi,
sometimes I have one way calls and noise between sip phones connected to
the same LAN so no nat/firewall is involved. I tried with different sip
phone models soft phones and the result is the same. I searched inside
every log file but found nothing. I made different PBX with different
hardware but the result is always the same.
Is there anybody experiencing this terrible problem?

asterisk 1.4 with around 230 SIP connections
Using asterisk 1.4 with 100M or 1000M ethernet and 230 SIP clients and a
64 bit 4200+ box
would there be any noticable lag or delay to bring each one of them into
a PAGE mode. so one speaker can talk out on all 230 SIP clients for a
message.
Would this work?
Thanks,
Jerry

A document about implementing dtrace probes in SAX
Hi,
I have mentioned before that we have added some sdt dtrace probes in SAX,
our APL interpreter. Encouraged by Angelo and Jignesh, I have created a
small document (5 pages) describing our experience with it, together with
some problems we have encountered and some scripts we use for
pretty-printing dtrace outputs.
The said document can be found at

Why is my kernel eating my memory
Can someone, more learned in the ways of dtrace point me at what to look at to help understand why the kernel on one machine is using tons of memory, while another machine doing the same task/same user load is not.
swapinfo for the "afflicted" machine shows
RAM _______Total 16384 Mb
RAM Unusable 73 Mb
RAM Kernel 9226 Mb
RAM Locked 2 Mb

Compaq V2000 laptop no USB recognized
To continue here with problems on this compaq v2000
laptop, I put kernel source on a USB disk and plugged it
into the v2000. NOTHING IS recognized.
I tried to manually mount the disk and nothing either...
I thought USB was well established....
I thought trying to recompile the kernel for realtek support
might get my networking going...
I am stuck???

Dtracing scsi
A small script to see what SCSI commands are being issued by a system:
http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/chrisg?entry=scsi_d_script
Still work in progress as I needs to handle larger CDBs but it is a start, since I don''t have a disk that big it is not a problem for me yet.
Also getting the return scsi packet is a hack but so far I can see no alternative short of knowing about all the
