LAN switches with PoE? PoE phones?
Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations on ethernet switches for a new install. Ideally would want switches with at least 24 ports, ideally with a GE uplink, and that support PoE (power over ethernet) on every port. I've seen lots of switches, and lots of "power hubs", but the combination, which makes a lot of sense, seems rare. What is out there? Do the switches need to be

PoE module
Hello; We have a cisco switches but they are not PoE and we need only to have PoE device so the cables come for it first to provide the power and then goes to the switch (to be like batch panel), is there something like this that can be used for the IP Phones? cisco poe
I know this is on the wiki, I just want to confirm so I don't blow up my cisco phones. I've got several cisco 7940's all running using cisco power cubes. However, my boss wants me to switch just a few over to poe, but doesn't want to fork out the dough for a nice cisco poe switch, or anybody else's poe switch for that matter. So my question is, what is the '99.999%

PoE VOIP phones in Australia
Hi, Are there any resellers of phones that can take power over ethernet in Australia? All I can find for sale online is the BT-10[12], which is cheap but not featureful enough, and the Snom 190, which is about right, but neither of them support PoE. I'm particularly intereseted in the Snom 220 with the keypad expansion for our receptionist. Although, could you make a PoE split-out cable

D-LINK PoE switch, does it work with cisco or do I need to do the cable trick?
As an alternative to the "expensive" PoE switches out there, I found the D-Link Web Smart DES-1316 switch for just around $400. Now, the issue is, it does 802.3af power and, as I've found out through previous discussions, this original 76?0 series phones (the non G variety) do not use 802.3af. So I'm assuming I just need to use the special cable thing as per

VoIP PoE phones for restaurant
Greetings, I mailed the list regarding an intercom system some months ago and we came to the conclusion that I should purchase a Polycom 501 phone. I'm now considering the purchase for this year, and I'm now wondering between the Polycom 501 and the 320 for the intercom. I don't need the spare ethernet on the phone because I would like to have my voice network separate from my

Cheap PoE switches/injectors?
I'm trying to spec out hardware for a new office, and I'd like to include power over Ethernet as an option. I've seen a handful of PoE injectors around $1000 for 24 ports and a couple switches up around $2500 for 24 ports. Are there any cheaper options, short of buying a boatload of 1-port injectors off of ebay? I don't really need more then 24 ports of PoE out of 48 total

POE Splitters
I've got an interesting situation where I have one cable run from the feed area to the service area. I have three devices that I need to power at the service area. Is anyone aware of a device that will take the POE from the cable run and then allow me to split it to two or three devices at the service end? When I search for splitter all I get are the injectors, but I figure someone has to

PoE - IEEE 802.3af
Hi, I'm not clear on how to use Power--over-Ethernet, specifically with Polycom phones. What I understand, is that by buying the Polycom 501 with the 802.3af cable bundle, I simply connect my phone, through the Polycom provided "special" RJ-45 cable, into a PoE capable switch, and voil?! Is this true? And if so, what happens when the Phone doesn't connect directly to the

OT - Is Netgear ProSafe FS108P with PoE silent ?
Hi, I need to locate a Asterisk server and a PoE-enabled switch on someone's desk. I've seen this Netgear ProSafe FS108P with 4 10/100 and 4 10/100 w/PoE ports silent enough ? Any recommendation ? Slightly OT: SNOM & PoE
Hello All, I apologize for the slightly off-topic question, but I'm sure that the people best acquainted with the issue would be hanging around here. We recently deployed several Linksys POE switches for some smaller customers (10-24 station) and appear to be suffering from intermittent lock-ups of the SNOM phones attached. Obviously we are running Asterisk for the gateway, but I was

Any quiet 24 port POE switches out there?
I have an upcoming install which places the switch close to some employees in a quiet work environment. Can anyone recommend a quiet 24 port POE switch? The Linksys SRW224P behind me right now would be objectionable, I'm sure. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Good comparisons on cheaper VOIP phones
Hello list, I am doing some work for a non profit group. As part of this, I am going to be putting in a 30 handset Asterisk solution. We are trying to keep the costs down as much as possible, as this job includes cabling, I am looking at POE solutions. On the switch side, I am considering something like some Netgear ProSafe FS726TP 24 port switches, or maybe the equivalent Linksys SRW224MP 24

Sipura 841 delayed: other PoE options?
I -think- that the Sipura 841 was PoE... and I'd been anxious to find out. However, according to Atacomm.com, it's been delayed until mid-January. *sigh* So: does anyone know of a (decent) phone that meets the following criteria, and isn't too expensive? - SIP - two (or more) lines - some form of TCP/IP-based configuration - 802.3af (power-over-ethernet) - 100 Mbit passthrough (not

# IP601's with POE per Catalyst 3560G-48PS
Hello people, I am having difficulties figuring out the POE power draw in watts from a Polycom IP601. I want to know how many IP601's can be powered from the Cisco Catalyst 3560G-48PS. The IP601 wallwart has: Input 120VAC 60hz 19W, Output 24VDC 500mA. I assume the output is appropriate value to figure out how many phones can be powered. The Cisco 3560 datasheet says "the 48-port PoE
