Failing Network card
Everyone,
Most of the time I am over my head in trying to troubleshoot problems.
However, after reading manuals, man pages, and getting advice from this
list I have been able to work my way through difficulties, and at the
end, I usually have a better understanding of what 'is going on'. I can
only hope this method will work on this problem too.
I have been chasing a problem with a

If your phones support PoE,
I have had huge success with Zyxel:

If you want to go even cheaper, I have successfully used these as well:

Routers that do not show external IPs...
I have a customer that has a Trendnet TEW-435BRM router which has the
bad habit of rewriting all external connections so the Asterisk server
only sees the IP address of the router itself. Up to today this has not
been a problem since all extensions are on the local network but now
they want to have a couple external IP phones (SIP).
I opened up the ports on the router and my phone can register.

NAT: RTP Path Optimization

Everything is working fine in my Setup, but I want Extern1 to talk to
Extern2 directly whitout going over Asterisk as the uplink is slow.
When I set for Extern1/2
canreinvite=yes
it works, but "Intern-2-Extern" doesn't work because Asteisk gives out
the private IP-Adresses of Int1/2

USB Wireless device for CentOS?
I need to get a wireless device for an upcoming trip (USB is
preferable to PCMCIA for a long list of reasons) and I'm wondering if
anyone has any experience with or recommendations for such items,
particularly which ones work with Linux/CentOS. Right now I'm
debating between a reasonably cheap Belkin 54G and a slightly more
expensive Netgear 54G.
Thanks.

Best sotphne to se ith a BlueTooth Hadset, a PC and a USB dongle
Hello everyone.
I recently boght a Nokia BH900 headset and USB bluetooth dongle and I'd
like to use them to make calls from a sofphone. I managed to this with
boxe XTen-Lite and the Zoiper - but they both see the device as a simple
sound card through the BlueSoleil drivers. While this is allmost usable,
the headphone seems to be kept in "transmission" mode all the time and I

Trying to register an G.729 codec boght from Digium and the "register" command does aboslutely nothing
Hello: I got into a trap. As far as I know I do not need to pay any
royalties to use G.729b in Romania, so I should have used other drivers.
The installation procedure looked difficult so I decided to get one from
Digium - it's not that expensive, my time is much more expensive.
Made the payment, got they key, downloaded and copied everything as in

It would be cool if this feature could make it into the new release.
As you can see here it would be beneficial in my environment :-)

Semi-OT: bluetooth conference phone?
All - I've been trying to pick out a bluetooth conference phone that I
could use with a softphone along with my asterisk server. I've been
looking at the TrendNet TVP-SP4BK. Have any of you used this device
or any other bluetooth conference phone? How have your experiences
been?
Thanks!

Two nics connected to one switch
We have a webserver that is connected to three different networks. Due
to our cabling, we have to run two of those networks over the same
physical network.
When connecting from OS X and Windows we are occasionally blocked
because the client is sending to the wrong interface. Linux clients
seem to have no problem at all.
I have read the docs and understand that the problems exists because of

filtering in layer 2 [but is not a bridge]
I have a linux AP with prism2 (hostap) wireless nic.
I whant to filter traffic that pass betwen clients of the AP, this is layer 2
traffic (802.11) and netfilter does not sees it, at first i think in physdev
target, but is for layer2 bridged interfaces, and this is not the case.
There is a way to filter layer2 traffic independet if it is from a bridged
iface or not?

OT: hardware: blackmagic video capture cards
Hi, folks,
I'm still trying to find a video capture card that won't crash Dell
servers, and ran across a Blackmagic BDLKDUO2 DeckLink Duo 2. It claims
to support Linux. I'm also seeing, in the few non-Blabkmagic or sales
pages I can find, that they like "binary blobs". I also haven't been
able to find anything about o/s or library requirements.

Importing a CSV file
Hi,
I'm trying to load .csv file into R (3790 by 30). I'm having an odd
difficulty. After I type:
read.csv("niwage.csv", header = TRUE)
the data appears on the screen. The last thirty or so observations appear
on the screen and they have been read in correctly.
However, when I type:
dim(data)
I see:
NULL
This seems odd to me--R seems to be recognizing the data but not

Merging yields "Error: unexpected input ..."
I am new to R and am having difficulty merging 2 data sets, both of which have the same 30 variables and about 2,000 records. I've looked high and low—Paul Johnson's help page, through some of the 5,420 (yikes!) results for “merge” on the R list archives, and google searches—and I'm getting nowhere, so I thought I'd ask.
When I try to merge by the ID variable:
