FXO recommendation
Hi all, With the gamut of FXO cards out there, I'm looking for a recommendation for home use. I have a nicely working Asterisk 1.4 system that just requires an FXO card to connect my NTL PSTN to it. My previous X101P clone seems to have kicked the bucket. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Regards Kyle -- Kyle Gordon kyle@lodge.glasgownet.com http://lodge.glasgownet.com

Calling CHRIS BARNET (PRI / E100P / ntl)
Chris you might know the answer to my HUUUUUUGE problem A few weeks ago you posted this message: "I have an ISDN PRI supplied by NTL (ex Diamond Cable, Nottingham) which is currently working happily with an SDX Index phone system. I have to replace this phone system shortly and I've been trying to get a * system working for some weeks now. I have configured the dial plan (which works)

X100P and NTL (ex Cable + Wireless)
Firstly, let me just say I am new to asterisk and if anything I've said is covered in an FAQ or in previous posts I apologise but I have tried searching and I've attempted a few of the things I found but they didn't help. Has anybody got any experience using an X100P on an NTL phone line in the UK (I'm in an ex Cable & Wireless area if that makes any difference). The

Modems compatible with NTL caller id
I'm looking at using a modem to provide caller ID info on my NTL line following the steps in the article posted by Darren Poulson: http://www.22balmoralroad.net/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=1 I was wondering if anybody had experience of using any modems (can be pci/isa/external) with an ntl line (in an ex. Cable & Wireless area if it makes a difference) and

Anyone know about callerid format used by NTL in Cambridge?
Hi, Does anyone know anything about the callerid format that NTL uses here in Cambridge, UK. This is the former Cambridge Cable, who is sometimes different from the rest of NTL. They did say that only some equipment works with their switch. I hoped that they might use US-style CID, which would work with the X100P, but it doesn't seem to come through. I do notice that my DECT phone bought

UK ISDN PRI Problems
Advance apologies for the length of this mail; I have an ISDN PRI supplied by NTL (ex Diamond Cable, Nottingham) which is currently working happily with an SDX Index phone system. I have to replace this phone system shortly and I've been trying to get a * system working for some weeks now. I have configured the dial plan (which works) and all my SIP extensions (which all work) along with

Echo on Zaptel FXO :(
Hi All, I've got an MD3200 modem which is working as a Zaptel FXO interface for Asterisk (X100P clone I believe). It seems to work, but on incoming or outgoing calls I can hear the other party ok but when I speak, I hear my voice echo back at me (quite quietly but it's distracting!) on everything I say. The other party doesn't seem to hear the echo - they just say I sound a bit quiet.

UK install
Well I'm slowly learning my way around asterisk although as yet I haven't had the chance to actually hook the system up to an ISDN line. I am going to migrate from an Argent Office setup. My only problem is keeping costs down on the phones. The Argent system is running about 30 POTS phones. Can someone suggest the cheapest option? Should I get some kind of large scale FXS box or would

Sound cards for Centros
What sound cards are recognized by Centros? I have installed it on an old 400MHz IBM Aptiva that has Crystal Audio built-in. However it does not seem to recognize that, nor a Sound Blaster, nor a Sound Blaster 16 that I have tried. Any cheapo cards that it would recognize? Mike

Snom firmwares suck <--additional datapoint to consider
We have a large install of 360's running rev 4.1 with zero problems. I did another, smaller install couple weeks ago with 40 360's running rev 5.3. In both cases, the install was identical, same Asterisk version, same dialplan, everything the same except the differences were: 1. Different firmware rev 2. Different physical LAN Guess what? On the smaller install, lockups and reboots.

TDM400 with FXS some handsets not ringing
Folks, I have a TDM400 with an FXS module. I'm having some trouble ringing some phones attached to the device. I have a real el cheapo handset that cost me about 9UKP. It works fine, I plug it into the Wildcard and call the channel and it rings. I have tried plugging in my BT Diverse 3016 cordless phone but it will not ring, although I can call out from it. I have also tried my GPO 332L

PRI hangup certain outgoing calls
I have a problem calling a certain number from our PRI line. Calling the number from a separate PSTN phone works fine. The remote number seems to have some funny call redivert setup, when you call it, it answers immediately, makes some kind of beep and then starts to ring. Our PRI is in the UK from Telewest/NTL/Virgin Media and most outgoing calls work without a problem. The server is

Very small office install
A few months ago I discovered *. Recently have taken more interest in it, since I have to install phones into my wife's small office. Hope that my questions weren't discussed recently and are not to dumb. The current requirements for * consist of a single incoming ISDN BRI line (currently have 5 MSN allocated), 3 internal extensions and a single analog fax. 1. I plan to buy some el

UK CallerID -v- Wildcard W100P
At the risk of being flamed.... Has anyone had any success get the 'El cheapo' Wildcard W100P clone's (?20 flavour) to work with UK Caller ID? I'm not sure what the status of Asterisk 1.6 is with respect to UK caller ID, being that we have an odd method of sending the FSK ahead of the ring, but I'm guessing I can't be the first to ask this? Keeping in mind that cost is

network query
Hi, I am not sure if this is the right place to ask, so please forgive me if it''s not. I have read most of the documentation regarding shorewall, and found it fairly easy to understand. I am in the process of buying a new house, where I will have my own computer room and a new ISP. I would like to use 1 to 1 NAT on the PC''s. I will hopefully be setting my my network as follows:

umass device support...how generic is it?
Is there any point in reporting specific devices that work with umass(4) any more, or is the assumption these days that anything that will work on a Windows or Linux box, without additional drivers, will also work on FreeBSD? The cheapo 'pen drive' that I picked up on ebay yesterday surprised me by just working, with no pain whatsoever... I'm wondering if maybe I shouldn't be so

Darren, yes, I'd be happy to help. I'll contact you off list to sort out the arrangements. I should warn you that it may be a wasted journey for you, as I really dont know if it will exhibit the problem. Tim. OT: Canada's Primus introduces SIP local service
Primus in Canada has launched a SIP-based service to replace your business and residential POTS lines with a VoIP version. It's called TalkBroadband and it looks killer: http://www.primus.ca/en/residential/talkbroadband/index.html Basic service for $20 Cdn a month!! Local number portability!! Cheapo Primus LD rates!! They don't care where geographically you plug it in!! When you sign
