Asterisk on a MiniITX board+Atom1.6 2gb+Sangoma USB?
Hello,
does this sound as a good combination, mini-itx board with Atom
dual core 1.6ghz 2G ram and a sangoma USB?
For a setup with PSTN for incoming and IAX2(alaw/gsm) for outgoing calls.
- Would you say its a good choice from a hardware perspective?
- Roughly how many concurrent calls would one of these be able to handle?

make a mistake):

Linux choices ?
First of all, My apologies for this maybe slight OT post, but I have
so much confidence and read so much good replies on this list, that I
am still asking my question.
I''m looking for a linux distribution to use on our school''s homemade
routers. The routers are small miniITX based systems with 2 network
interfaces. I added a 4 port D-Link network card in some cases, when I

Board configuration - specification or recommendation
Hello,
We're about to deploy an Asterisk system.
So far we have the following (below) configuration
but before we start anything we would like to hear some
suggestions on it, specification or recommendation too...
Thank you!

1x IDE (or more)
2x SATA (or more)
2x PCI slots (must work with Linux correctly in regards to IRQs)

Minimal installation How-to?
Hi all
I would like to install the minimal level of Centos, with yum & selinux
on my servers during the basic install from CD with Anaconda and then
use yum to install whatever application is major on that server, so that
yum installs its dependencies only, thus keeping to the target of
installing only what is needed on a server.
Please advise pros/cons of this approach and how to do it. I

USB Audio sound card
All-
Ah, the saga of the 1U workstation continues. So, in all my work configuring
the thing, I completely forgot about AUDIO; I only realized my mistake when I
went on a cable-measuring expedition this morning. Unfortunately, none of the
1U servers I've been looking at come with audio outputs (there aren't even
audio headers on the motherboard), and I've used the only availabnle slot

Motherboard and chipset compatibility
So, having returned from a month's vacation, I'm back to work on attempting
to build a set of small form factor CentOS compatible computers. I've
really tried to do my homework, but this doesn't appear (at first glance)
to be at all easy. It's not made easier by the fact that I have to get it
right the first time (and I haven't built a PC in a decade); the time and
money

any 64-bit mini-itx successes
Is there anyone who has successfully put together a "high-powered" mini-itx ZFS box that would be willing to post their system specs?

OT: hardware question
Hi, folks,
I'm installing a RAID controller card for a large external RAID box in
a Dell server. I've got two riser slots available. Here's the question:
the controller card has some large chips on one side, and if I put it
in riser 1, those chips face downwards in the box, blocking ease of
cooling, while if I put it in riser 2, the chips will face up... but be
right over a large

CentOS or other Linux Internet Router/Gateway
Hi Everyone,
I've got kids who are growing older and I want to build a Linux box to
filter Internet access. I've got six computers on the Internet, plus
the laptops -- most run Windows. I'm not sure if it's called a router
or gateway or...? I don't mind doing the leg work, I just don't know
where to start. I'm pretty sure I'm *not* looking for a web server

TDM400p susceptible to EMI?
I have a TDM400p with 3 fxs and 1 fxo daughter cards.
It's in a mini-itx case with a 'right-angle' PCI riser card so the TDM400p
is 'sandwiched' between the Atom D525 CPU and the 2.5" hard drive.
I'm getting a bunch of clicks and pops on all ports.
Has anybody had a similar experience? Did you find a solution?

Hello all this is my first post to this list so i would like to than you all in advance for your time and consideration.
I am in the process of building a new server and have purchased some used hardware. There seems to be some hardware issuses and i am hoping nothing was damaged during shipping. However i am in contact with intel and we are tring to figure out the exact problem via email.

Factors? I think?
First of all, let me apologize, as this is probably an absurdly basic
question. I did search before asking, but perhaps my ineptitude didn't allow
me to apply what I read to what I'm doing. Totally new to R, and haven't
done any code in any language in a long time.
Basically I've got categories. They're department codes for doctors (say,

OT: Need some riser card advice...
Fellow server-builders out there, this is for you. :) I was trying to
build a cheap JBOD type storage solution running CentOS. Ended up
snagging a Supermicro SC826TQ-R800LPB 2U case (12 drives slots) and a
Supermicro X7DBE-O motherboard. Unfortunately, without thinking I
snagged a 3ware 9650SE-12ML SATA RAID card which is a full height card
and thus does not fit in my case.
I have a few

Dell PowerEdge 2850
Hello,
Digium uses the Dell PE 2850 for their testing. This site says that 3.3V PCI slot.

We are planning on purchasing a Dell PE 2850 and putting a TE205P card on it. However, the needs a 5V PCI slot. Does Dell PE 2850 has a 5V PCI slot? A person in our group tried to call Dell's customer support but they do not seem to know.

Function recommendation for this study...
Hi,
I'm not used to thinking along these lines, and wanted to ask your advice:
Suppose you have a sample of around 100, consisting of patients according to
doctors, in which patients and doctors are given a questionnaire with
categorical responses. Each patient somehow has roughly 3 doctors, or 3
rows of data. The goal is to assess by category of each question or DV the

enforcing special behavior of child rows in HABTM
Hi,
I have a scenario where a doctor can have one or more specialties.
For each doctor, one and only one of her specialties can be designated
as primary.
So I have tables called doctors, specialties, and doctors_specialties,
the last of which has a boolean is_primary column.
The doctor model class specifies that:

Question on estimating standard errors with noisy signals using the quantreg package
Dear all,
My question might be more of a statistics question than a question on R,
although it's on how to apply the 'quantreg' package. Please accept my
apologies if you believe I am strongly misusing this list.
To be very brief, the problem is that I have data on only a random draw, not
all of doctors' patients. I am interested in the, say, median number of
patients of
