Ices0.3 and Perl 5.8.3
Has anyone got Ices0.3 to complile and make under when linking with Perl
5.8.3?
I posted this a while back...but it needs a revival :D
<p><p>I'm sure it's a Perl problem (maybe way I've compiled it?) but here's where
'make' throws down it's gloves and runs off into the distance.

trying to figure out reorder.factor in gdata
I'm trying to make a factor with levels for day of week, appear as
Monday-Sunday, rather than alphabetically. I'm using reorder.factor
from gdata package, but obviously not using it properly. What am I
doing wrong? Thanks.

concat mount
Hi, I've got a buffalo 1TB DriveStation run in RAID 1 mode, i.e. 500G
space available, but that beast is preformatted in vfat. Buffalo doesn't
recommend to run it as ext2/ext3, so I mount a vfat drive wich has the
limitations "no symlinks, no uids, no gids, etc.". As I just want to use
the DriveStation as a backup target, I did the following: I created
files of 4G size with

hosting panel
Hi there,
what's your favorite (OS) hosting panel for centos5 ?
What's most interesting for me is the usability by others i.e. users who
don't know the tool very much, so it has to be very simple. Second is of
course security.
Greetings & TIA Michael

migration considerations
Hi,
I've got a 3ware 9550SX-4LP on a dual xeon 3.6GHz machine (no HVM
possible). 4 SATA-HDs in RAID 5 installed.
xen 3.0.3 with centos-4.4 as xen0. centos-4.4 is also installed on the
numerous xenUs. The xenUs are installed in LVs which are formatted as xfs.
Now I'd like to move over to centos 5.0
This is what I thought to be good as an upgrade procedure:
1) install a xen0 to a

php version 4.4 / ez publish
Hi list, is there any repository on this world where I can stick to and
update to a stable and hopefully secure and hopefully long supported
version 4.4 of php? EZ publish's software requirements as of the current
version tells me that it requires php 4.4 which doesn't meet what Centos
4.4 or its upstream provides. For a certain project I want to use ez
publish. Is there any solution

php-4.4 rpm
Hi, has somebody already succeeded in creating a php-4.4 rpm under
centos-4.4? php version 4.3.9 compiles perfectly, but taking the 4.3.9
spec and replacing the source tar.gz (and omitting the patches) doesn't
work at all. I could provide you with details about compile errors, but
I think I should check the availability of a 4.4 package before trashing
you with details.
TIA

dovecot disconnect(s)
Hi, I've got a problem with dovecot regarding a pop3 proxy issue.
When I configure a dovecot server to do just plain pop3 I can telnet
from a windows box without any flaw, but as soon as the client uses some
pop3 proxy (for example outlook uses avira antivir Mail-AntiVirus
Protection), queries to that server fail. A log line looks like this:
pop3-login: Dec 05 22:53:24 Info: Disconnected

centos 4.7 / kvm
Hello,
I'm trying to install centos-4.7 under kvm (for legacy reasons). I can't
get the beast installed, it crashes (see output below).
I'm using:
qemu 0.9.1
kvm-72
libvirt-0.4.6
kernel 2.6.26
What can I do in order to get the installation being done?
The host is a x86_64 machine (debian5).
BTW, the installation for centos-5.2 works like a charm with the above
configuration.
TIA
