Asterisk both behind a NAT and outside at the same time
I've read a lot of the descriptions of handling NAT with Asterisk, and the use of both the nat and canreinvite flags. I am very familiar with Sip and NAT but have not seen an answer to the following question. My Asterisk server runs on a machine with two ethernets. One is an external net, with exposed IP addresses. The other is an internal net with natted IP addresses. Thus the server

NAT/STUN Server
Hi, I am trying to register SIP clients which are behind NAT on different network. In order to achieve this goal I think I need STUN Server . I downloaded STUN Server from http://internap.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/stun/stund_0.96_Aug13.tgz But I don't know how to install/configure it. And please advice me that STUN server is good idea for this scenario? Thanks in advance Wazb

Asterisk, SER, NAT, STUN and the whole debate
Guys. Im reading a lot about ser, nat, stun, etc. And I noticed there are a lot of ways to get around nat but I would like to hear some success stories about handling nat users with multiple voip phones behind nat. I have my asterisk box behind but ports are forwarded (5060 5004 10000-20000 for rtp and 4569 for iax2) but still.. I can quite figure out what ser and stund have to do on this

Please test: STUN patch for Asterisk behind NAT
Hi there! David has put up a patch to fix the STUN issues that has plagued Asterisk 1.6 ever since that feature was introduced. Now we need testers to verify the patch, so please grab the patch (or check out the SVN branch) and add your comments: https://issues.asterisk.org/view.php?id=17622 Thanks, Philipp

SNOM 200 behind NAT and other xmas woes
I decided to give the whole family IP phones for christmas, all hooked into my asterisk server, so all the nephews can have their own lines. However, one of the phones I got was the SNOM 200. That's worked fine for me on my own network, but I'm having bad luck getting it to work behind NAT talking to Asterisk. It talks to my termination/origination provider, which seems to ruthlessly

Does Asterisk support STUN or TURN? How to configure asterisk NAT traversal?
Hi, All I have asterisk installed behind non-symmetric NAT, so I have NAT traversal issues. How can I use STUN or TURN to register with the other end? Or Asterisk doesn't support it? STUN vs NAT Helper
I'm wondering if anyone can recommend one over the other. I'm mostly interested in running open source solutions, so I would prefer if your recommendations are within the open source arena. Basically, I contemplated the idea of using SER as a NAT Helper and possibly as a SIP server for a portion of our user base. We prefer to have Asterisk in the mix because of the additional

ast 1.2.x - cisco 7970 behind nat to external asterisk with no nat
Hi All, As the subject describes, has anyone gotten this to work? I am running an asterisk 1.2.16 server, and am trying to register my cisco 7970 remotely to it, but it just won't go. I am running 1.4.2 internally and the phone registers fine to it. I'm using the latest firmware (i think) - 8.2.1S On the server in question I have tried the following for the sip declaration:

NAT solutions
I know that NAT is something no one really likes to talk about, but does anyone know how work with it elegantly? There are many providers which deal with it on a daily basis in fact they cater to it, is this possible to do with asterisk or does it require other exotic setups? I even know of a provider which uses asterisk with many different types of devices, and they handle all NAT config on

NAT and Dial to two channels at once
We all love Asterisk's ability to Dial(chan1&chan2) and take the first that answers. However, I have been encountering a problem when one of the channels is an external phone behind NAT and another is a local phone on the same net as the asterisk server. All have canreinvite=yes, and the phone behind NAT is correctly using Stun to give its external ports, which are opened to it in the

Stun & codec
I have two phones, one does not need stun, the other one needs. All settings are identically, except the number/password and said above stun - not stun I use codec in the order: g729 g711u g711a Any ideas, why the user can hear me, but I cannot hear him (stun) while the other user without stun has no problem. bye Ronald

Hi Everyone. I'm in a quandry & don't know which way to go. - Obviously I'm an Asterisk newbie although I've been watching this list for over 2 years now. I've got an Asterisk box (actually, it's an AsteriskNOW box) up and running here at home. - It's on my home LAN - NAT'ed behind my LinkSys router. - On the same LAN I've got a Cisco 7940, 7960, and
