I broke wine
Ok, I was following a guide to install Office 2007 on Ubuntu 8.04 with Wine. I added exceptions (rpcrt4.dll and msxml.dll) as Native (Windows). After doing so wine broke, I can't even open winecfg to remove these exceptions. I've tried removing wine completely with Synaptic are reinstalling but nothing is helping, I currently have v 1.1.19 installed, it's still not working. when I use

Wine 1.1.7 and 1.0.1 not working on Intrepid 64 bit
I posted this on Ubuntuforums but after reading a bit more it seems this is mostly used for gaming questions so I decided to come here. I am running 64 bit Ubuntu intrepid (still a beta but a release candidate). I can see Wine in my application menu but when I go to Programs/Acessories/Notepad nothing happens. I am unable to open the configuration nor am I able to uninstall using the Applications

Wine Won't load - New to Linux, was initially impressed :-(
I have recently switched to Ubuntu 8.04. And being a user that still needs the functionality of MS Office, I attempted to install Office 2007 by following the instructions @ http://samanathon.com/how-to-install-microsoft-office-2007-in-ubuntu-804/ And during the setup I fear that I have misinterpreted something as I now can't even get to the Wine configuration menu. I Have tried removing

C:\ doesn't save
Hello, I edited the path to my drive_c because it wasn't working right. After I clicked Ok, it erased the fake C:\ in winecfg, but the drive_c folder is still there. Everytime I try to enter it back in, it erases. I also get these errors when I try to use wine: [root@localhost ~]# winecfg Warning: the specified Windows directory L"c:\\windows" is not accessible. New user is confused by some configuration issues
I find the documentation very confusing about how to install native DLLs, which native DLLs to install and where to put them. Some of the advice is contradictory. I have wine 0.9.17 on Ubuntu 6.06 I see in the system32 a number of DLLs are installed. Are these the only copy of the builtin DLLs that wine has? Because the documentation says that when installing native DLLs, they should best go

I have RTFM but it is limited on offering help when a problem crops up for a noob who is not a programmer. I DL and installed the WINE program on my Ubuntu 7.10 and can see it on the Applications. Selecting 'Configure Wine' brings up the 'grey' screen but nothing I do to it seems to function. I opened the terminal and typed 'winecfg' and stuff happens like: 'bob at

Newbie needs help
Hello, I have an old crossword program that runs OK on Win98, WinMe, and XP. I have installed, via yum, wine and wine-devel and the associated dependencies on my Fedora 8 system. I have copied all the files from the program's install floppy to a directory in my home folder, the same as installing it on XP. However, when the program tries to access the word files it fails and says to see

how to overwrite DLLs?
Moin, I can define the load order for specific applications using winecfg. But what is the propper way to copy these DLLs from a 'real' windows box? Just owerwrite the wine-ddl in windows/system32/ ? But isn't this the 'build in' DLL, that should be used for applications with load order 'Build in'? Sorry I am confused. -- |Michael Renner E-mail:

Win2k Dlls & iTunes
Hi! I'm sorry if this has been posted before, but I'm new here. I copied all of the dlls and exes from a new win2k c:/windows/system32 to ~/.wine/dosdevices/c:/windows/system32, and I set winecfg to use all native dlls (except kernel32, user32, gdi32, and ntdll). When I try to install iTunes (6.0.4 I think), it says that I need to be that administrator. It doesn't do that without

Wine can't find c drive!
Hi, I am trying to run a game (Touhou 7) on a mac using wine. I installed wine using macports and used the command $ wine $th07e.exe to run my installer it then gives me this message: wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\.exe" I read elsewhere that i should type winecfg and create a fake c drive. But when I look in my drives menu, there is already one labeled c. Why can't
