Rgui.exe cannot be set as default program under Vista wtih R2.10.1
Dear moderators,
when I installed the latest version of R (R2.10.1) under Microsoft Vista (service pack 2), I ran into problems associating Rgui.exe with .RData files. On doubleckicking such files in explorer, they open in a Rterm window. Trying to associate Rgui.exe with the Rdata files via control panel / default programs does not work - Rgui is not added to the list of recommended programs. I

I noticed something this morning. I'm using SSH to login in, and when I run
ices it pops an hexadecimal error up on the server screen itself. If I go
to the server and run ices I get

Re: DB Modelling the Rails way - solution by Chris Hall
Hi Chris,
Yesterday you kindly submitted an answer to my question on modelling
many to many relationships. I''ve briefly tried the proposed solution but
so far with no luck. Before I get too involved - I''d like to know if
mapping three way :join_tables is "legal" in a Rails sense. I only ask
since you put (untested) in your mail and I can''t find any docs on

Interactions in a nls model
I am interested in testing two similar nls models to determine if the
lines are statistically different when fitted with two different data
sets; one corn, another soybean. I know I can do this in linear models
by testing for interactions. See Introductory Statistics with R by
Dallgaard p212-218 for an example. I have two different data sets I am
comparing to lai. ci.re should have very

beta1: how to use quota plugin???
Hi,
After searching gmane.mail.imap.dovecot on the topic, and
wiki.dovecot.org, I'm still clueless on how to use RFC 2087
quotas in dovecot with the quota plugin. How come no wiki
doc?
My setup: Solaris 9, mbox format. Both the filesystem for
INBOXes (/var/mail) and the user's home directories have
filesystem-based quotas imposed. For example:
% quota -v joeblow

Which function to use: grep, replace, substr etc.?
Hello,
I have a simple question but I don't know which method is best to use for my
problem.
I have the following strings:
str1 <- "My_name_is_peter"

I would like to apply predefined abbreviations for peter=p and name=n to
both strings
so that the new strings look like the followings:
str1: "My_n_is_p"
str2:

Chris,
Finally got time to fully play with your suggestions. Had to re-code a
