Billing Telephone Number (BTN)
I have Asterisk setup with two PRI's one going to my telco and the
other going to a Norstar Meridian system. The Norstar Meridian is
sending a BTN number that needs to be passed to the Telco. Is there a
way to pass the BTN as a variable in the dial plan? Like
CallerID(num)? What is the variable for BTN if so?
Many Thanks.

Newbie with questions
I have an existing Meridian PBX system that I am looking at replacing with Asterisk for the multi-office features. One of the many areas that I am unclear on is if we can use the existing phones from the old PBX system? Some are Meridian M7310 and some are Norstar M7208 models.
They each support multiple lines with a multi-line display, but I haven't seen anything on this list about sporting

integration with Meridian/Norstar ATA2
I'm attempting to use an asterisk box with a Digium TDM01B as voicemail
for an existing Meridian/Norstar PBX with an ATA-2 adapter. We're
having problems where hangup is not always (but sometimes) detected.
It's not detected probably 70% of the time or more. (The users transfer
callers to an extension--caller then has to navigate a menu to get to
the appropriate user).

Solution - ISDN-PRI hangup cause
Well, it works for me .. YMMV.
Yesterday I had a problem where I had a meridian talking to * via a PRI
card, and from * to the pstn via an isdn30 link. The problem was that if the
number was bad, or engaged then the meridian line simply dropped, not giving
the operator any indication of what occurred.
With much help from this list, I managed to construct a dialplan which
solved our issues.

PRI dropped calls w/ asterisk dropped between pstn & norstar
Hi,
I dropped an asterisk server with a TE405P between a Norstar Meridian
PBX and it's PRI PSTN connection. Everything seemed to work fine
using a pass-thru-type dialplan configuration... except now we've
realised that outbound calls to celphones get dropped upon connect,
but not on every call (almost always the first try, but not the
second). All other calls to non-celphones had no

Status of Q.SIG on Asterisk?
The last post I saw regarding this was June 2003 (before my time with *, I
started in September):
http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2003-June/013324.html
Is there any support for Q.SIG in * at all? The Norstar MICS uses a MCDN
(Meridian Customer Defined Network) key to enable the "SL1" protocol which
from everything I've been reading is just Q.SIG. This protocol

* + Legacy PBX works but strange problem
Hi
below are my configs:
pstn(e1)--->asterisk (span1)----->legacy pbx(connected via span2)-----> legacy pbx analog extensions.
my dial plan is like callers dial into asterisk(span1) , hear an IVR option and they are connected to the agents via the legacy pbx (which is in sync with asterisk on span2)....This works perfectly fine until about 200 calls or so...After that time when asterisk

I need to connect Asterisk to a Nortel Meridian phone plant
Hi. I had successful confiured my Asterix PBX, but now I need to connect it
to a Nortel Meridian phone plant, I got a Digium T100P on the machine I got
the Asterisk and I already connect it with the phone plant, I need to know
what configuration do I have to do so the ip extensions can make calls to
the extensions of my plant Nortel. And extensions from the Nortel plant can

Nortel SL1 protocol and *?
I have been investigating more tight integration between * and the Nortel
MICS... it appears that it is at least theoretically possible to have *
store voicemail and log which stations call where.
Both require a T1 card. The T1 card requires either a clocking module or the
6-port fiber module to provide T1 timing. Naturally a T100P or TE405P is
required on the * side.
To log which

Activate/Deactivate Hardware echo cancellation on TE406/TE411 when briging
Hi,
How would one activate/deactivate hardware echo cancellation on the
TE406 card?
Can it be done per channel?
I'm going to run TE406 in the following scenario:
ISDN -> TE406 -> PABX
I understand from Steve Underwood's site that echo cancellation is not
good for faxes (and they do that themselves).
So what I want to do and bypass echo cancellation for selected
extensions before

Norstar Integration with Asterisk via FXO or BRI ISDN
Hi,
I have a legacy Norstar system that I'm looking into integrating with my
Asterisk setup.
My first attempts have worked, which involves a Wildcard X100P FXO card in
the * box connected to the Internal ATA (FXS port) on the Norstar system.
Calling from SIP -> Norstar works fine, since the SIP caller initiated the
call and generally will be sane enough to hangup the phone when

Hangup() doesn't always when talking to Nortel Norstar over CT1 E &M wink-start trunk line?
I've noticed a problem with calls to Hangup when talking to my Norstars over
channelised T-1 E&M trunk lines - it's been present since I started to
fiddle with Asterisk last December and it's still present in 'Asterisk
CVS-HEAD-08/13/04-10:37:13'.
Specifically, when a call is connected to Asterisk from the Norstar DTI card
to my T100p I get the following conditions

asterisk and norstar
Hi there!
We have an old legacy norstar phone system m8x24-ds ( dr5 ) and a couple of
m0x16. It has 5 external analog lines. It has no auto attendant, and no
voicemail. So every incoming call is forwarded to a operator, she pick up
the phone, talks to the caller and transfer the call to the right extension.
We are in Argentina, so buying a star talk is out of the question, there is
no selling of

Maximum tollerable lag/jitter for IAX2 w/o j itterbuffer enabled?
Unfortunatly no on both counts.
The arrangement right now has:
PSTN Trunks & Stations <-> Nortel Norstar#1 <-CT1-> Asterisk#1 <-IAX2->
Asterisk#2 <-CT1-> Nortel Nortstar#2 <-> Stations
The Asterisk boxes provide Voicemail to their sites Norstars and intersite
calls over IAX. Local Voicemail works flawlessly at each site but there have
been reports of PSTN calls

Building from scratch, would like the benefit of everyone's experience
Hi all,
I am going to be building an Asterisk system to replace the current
aging (aged) Nortel Meridian system in a travel agency. There is
already a voice T-1 in place and currently there are about 20 extensions
in use. I would want to move up to about 25 extensions immediately and
about 30-35 within the year.
I am going to want IVR and voicemail, plus the ability to ring a group
of
