[Softphones] ZoIPer vs. XLite?
Hello
I need to hook up someone's remote PC onto our Asterisk server over
the Net. There are firewalls on each side, so I figured it's time to
give IAX a try, and see if it's less of a pain to use than SIP. And
since IAX hardphones are pretty are, I guess I'll go softphone.
Apparently, the two most well-known IAX and SIP clients for Windows
are ZoIPer and X-Lite, respectively.

kiax - iax2 softphone
Has anyone on here used kiax before? I am asking because I have it installed
on several computers and have been able to get it to connect and register
to my Asterisk box. I can even call between them and my SIP softphones.
The problem I am having is this: when I use kiax to call someone else, they
get some kind of background music playing while I am talking to them. I have
called from kiax to

video calls - Windows / Linux interoperability ?
I will install Asterisk on my home server, I want to be able to route
video calls, but I need the Windows and Linux clients to be interoperable.
On Linux, it looks like Ekiga is a good candidate. But how about Windows?
Anyone using Kapanga in an Asterisk network that includes Ekiga? Are
these two interoperable?
I'm not necessarily looking for open source software, free for personal

Soft Phone
Does anyone have any experience with an Asterisk compatible softphone
application which meets the following criteria:
1) Is able to use touch screen rather than mouse for on-screen functions.
2) Has an API which can be used to export Caller ID info to another
App on the same compuer.
Thanks

Softphone for Linux desktops
Hi all,
We are successfuly running an Asterisk server with standard SIP hard
phones and it is working well. We are looking to deploy some soft
phones on our Linux desktops. There seems to be several floating
about. Anyone out there with some good/bad experiences with particular
Linux softphones. We only need g711 and prefer IAX but a SIP one will
do....
Thanks....

Wengo config and G729(a)
Hi list!
Again Wengo has made changes to their servers that require modifications
to * configs.
Is there anyone that has the 'new' wengo working with asterisk that could
post their configs?
Also they switched codecs, now G720a is required to connect. I can only
find an (open) G729 codec, is this the same as G729a?
Thanks!

[LLVMdev] GPL licensing issues or can GCC be used with llvm for a commercial application?

That's due to nature of the interface. Binary interface to codec make
the proprietary application 'derived work'.

MozIAX phone on FC4/Firefox 1.6
Has anyone had any luck with MozIAX (Mozphone) on FC4 with Firefox
1.6? jslib and moziax install through Firefox correctly - at least
that is the message I get.
I am able to log into the IAX Phone on Windows, however I get an error stating:

FATAL ERROR: no connection to "network_client".
MozPhone will stop now!

SIP Softphones and Citrix ?
Anyone aware of any SIP softphones that might virtualize well with Citrix
presentation server? I suspect I know the answer already as I have been
researching softphones that work with Cisco CallManager that can be
virtualized if you will with Citrix and have come to learn that its not
something that seems to be doable at this time. I have to assume that the
issues affecting the virtualization of

Echo after upgrade * 1.05 -> 1.06
Hi list!
I have a strange echo problem. Two days ago I setup * 1.0.6. at a friend
of mine. Just an * server and for outbound calls wengo.fr was used to
place calls via sip. He had a strange echo on the line I didn't
experience on my setup.
Today I upgraded my asterisk 1.0.5 to 1.0.6 and suddenly I have an echo
too on sip calls thru wengo!!
I already verified wengo was not the source of

Asterisk & wengophone
Hi I use Asterisk with some SIP phone (grandstrea), while with my
notebook when I'm out of home/office I use X-lite and all work.
Some days ago I try to install wengophone and I decided that I want
replace X-lite for use wengophone as client for my Asterisk.
One of the reasons is that wengophone support g729 codec.
I make some test and I see that is possible to configure other sip

Interestingly enough, you need a linker at the target system to do that. And
guess what this discussion started at :-p
