Hi, I've got my hands on a collection of old (the software on them is copyrighted in 1998-2000) cd's with a suite of games for kids called Aprendilandia. Unfortunately it doesn't quite work (I'll try to find a Win-comp around to see if it works under real windows, but in the meantime I'm asking for help here. On the "broken" .WAV files issue
A friend of mine recently had a problem with a "broken" .WAV file (as you call them) because oggenc first printed out a warning and then didn't accept the file because of a "unexpected EOF error". Because I was interested in the issue, I decided to take a look at the oggenc source, and in fact, it is your .WAV reader that's wrong. More precisely: there are two version

WaveIn/WaveOut and Speex
Hello, I know my question has been asked before because I spent the last week searching the web for how to use Speex in combination with WaveIn/WaveOut and I ran into a few posts, but none of them answer the question. There is still a lot of confusion how to use WaveIn/WaveOut and Speex by junior developers such as myself. Even after examining code for SpeexDec and SpeexEnc, I cannot get clear

wave/OSS and JumpStart Kindergarten...
Warning: WINE Newbie Alert. Proceed with caution.... Background: I don't want to fork up $$$ for a separate Windows machine for my kid so I've decided to see if I can run any of the popular brain-rot software under WINE (Is it "WINE" or "Wine" or "wine"?) on a Linux 2.4.18 kernel. My first project is a vintage 1995 version of JumpStart Kindergarten. Seeing

Microsoft ADPCM Audio CODEC
Greetings, I'm trying to run Microsoft 3D Movie Maker. An older Win95 series game. I followed the error message to Microsoft itself at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/149823 Need to know how to get this Codec Installed into Wine, so I can run this Old Game. Plus, I'm not a full expert at Linux, so if a solution is found, a bit of guidance of the installation process would be greatly

sequencer (sound)
Greetings! Hope this is the right forum. Got the 20040309 wine source, built it, installed it. Seemns to work reasonably well. However, when attempting to install/run games that are stated to be working under wine (Caesar III, Railroad Tycoon II), I can install (in the case of Caesar III, I get sound, none in RRTII). However, when attempting to run Caesar, it hangs, and I get a blank

WaveIn/WaveOut and Speex
Thank you for such a quick response. The only reason I started with Char buffers is because WaveIn and WaveOut on Windows XP accept/emit WAVEHDR structures, which store audio data in LPSTR, which is Char*. typedef struct { LPSTR lpData; DWORD dwBufferLength; ... } WAVEHDR; When I was going from Char to float and back looked very wrong to me as well, but I was just not

Wine why no audio?
Hi. Until Fedora 15, I used qsynth+Fluidsynth+alsa+biab and everything worked fine. But not anymore with Fedora 16. I can't see any midi drivers in band-in-a-box. I'm sure about my setup. Everything seems fine. I dont know which one is failing, but I suspect wine. The midi ports are ready: $ aconnect -o client 14: 'Midi Through' [type=kernel] 0 'Midi Through

Integrating speex with VideoNet application: Constantbackground noise
Hi John, Thanks for your reply. Yes, my output device is in 8-bit mode, same as my input mode. I'm actually working in char (8 bit) arrays. Is it necessary to work in signed short integers only? I changed all the short arrays in the example to char. Carine ----- Original Message ---- From: John Miles <jmiles@pop.net> To: carineliang@yahoo.com.sg; speex-dev@xiph.org Sent: Thursday,

using Frauenhofer mp3 codec
I tried to use the Frauenhofer mp3 codec and I thought I succeeded when removing winemp3 from the registry. But the entry gets created again the next time wine starts.... so how do I use the Frauenhofer codec instead of the winemp3.acm.so. The only way I found till now is by removing/renaming that file. That can't be the right way. So what is the right way to do that? As for why I want

Rosetta Stone
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 and WINE 1.2. WineHQ APPDB states that Rosetta Stone is not installable. I have installed it, so the information there is not correct/complete. When I installed, it ran perfectly. I created an ISO of the install disc and the first lesson. I then loop mounted each of them in turn for them to run and assigned each of them a windows directory, configuring them as CD-ROM.
