Wine + Windows Partition + Registry
I have a windows partition (XP), with a few applications I'd like to
run on it while in BSD:
Microsoft Office XP (for the occasional doc that OO doesn't like)
Corel Photopaint 9 or X3
Trillian (not needed but would be nice)
and a few games.
The games run fine, pretty much like in windows, but they have fewer
directx errors and crashes :-)
Office gets annoyed when I open winword.exe in

Cyberpower Value1200E might not need 0.667 battery scaling
I just got a Cyberpower SOHO Value 1200 ELCD UPS and even with nut
2.7.2, it appears to report battery voltage too low due to the battery
scaling function (In drivers/cps-hid.c). Even though the ups has usb
id: 0764:0501, UPS.PowerSummary.Voltage reports 26.6 for the 24V
batteries so when the 0.667 battery scale is applied that goes down to
17.7V.
upsc output:
battery.charge: 100

Attached is the first 32 seconds of the driver output after applying the
patch which fixes the battery scaling problem for this UPS.

"Cannot Display This Video Mode"
I have Ubuntu 8.10 and I downloaded Wine and installed it. Everything seems to work (installation works), but when I try to run the game that I installed, I hear the sound, but I don't see video, and instead I see a blank screen with big white text in the center that says "Cannot Display This Video Mode"
Does anybody know what this is? How do I fix this?

Hotkey between Xorg and Wine applications
Hello!
I'm trying to install a Windows application called Macro Express, wich
automatizes a lot of process with recorded macros. The macros are called by
pressing Hotkeys combinations like Control+1 or Control+2 etc. Then, the
macro sends keys to applications.
I have installed the program on kubuntu and Wine 0.9.30. The problems are
that it only regonizes Hotkeys when Macro Express window is

How to use apps and DLLs from XP partition?
I have a Dell Latitude D600 with Windows XPsp2 on the first partition
and Ubuntu Feisty (Linux kernel 2.6.20) with Wine 0.9.30 on the second
partition, set up to dual-boot. The XP share is NTFS and mounted
read-only for Linux.
What I want to do is run my Windows apps from the XP partition under
Wine, because I really hate using Windows.
A lot of the apps seem to ask for DLLs they can't find.

ComGenius application holding us from migrating 100% to linux
Hi There,
In my company we have almost done a complete Microsoft -> Linux
migration within the last year!
The only thing I need, is to get an application running through Wine!
The application is called "COM genius" and is used to upload codes to
universal remote controls! - I've failed in getting it to run in Wine,
and haven't found a linux alternative (guess this

high frequencies response
Hi there
In the past, i have used lame to encode high quality mp3-files
(vbr 1, bitrate ~ 192kbit). I tend to switch to ogg with Quality 4
or 5, but i noticed, that many ogg-files tend to produce too much
high frequencies response. In many cases, this is very noticeable.
For my opinion, i cannot accept this worse frequence reponse.
I have used latest version of ogg (OggEnc v1.0, precompiled
