mouse problems [A4 Tech OP-3D]
After some poking into psm.c code I've got some results.
First, for the archives, debug.psm.loglevel tunable is much more useful
than a verbose boot for debugging PS/2 mouse issues. A good value is 2.
Second, I fiddled with various probe methods to force them to
"recognize" my mouse (by loosening their checks) and found out that the
mouse works perfectly if it is treated as

multiscreen
I'm wondering what the status of multiscreen support is supposed to be
in 0.9.7.12. Using Ubuntu Precise, it seems that compiz only manages 1
screen and if you want compiz on both screens of a dual screen set up
you need to start two compiz sessions as such:
$ DISPLAY=:0.0 compiz --replace
$ DISPLAY=:0.1 compiz --replace
What makes this all so strange is that even when one starts only the

Spider diagrams
Hi, I am trying to create what are called "spider diagrams" in the geochemical
literature using R. A spider diagram is basically a plot of the atomic number
versus the concentration on a log scale. Lines are drawn from each atomic
number for each sample.
Right now, my data frame looks like:
SAMPLE SITE V3 LA.NASC LAATNUM CE.NASC CEATMNUM

Web forum - should I make one?
Hello,
this might be little off-topic, but still... I have not found any official web
forum for R users. Did I look good? If not, I'm sorry and shame on me! :-)
Such forums are very probably the most common way to share information about
all sorts of problems, to ask and get answer. See http://forums.opensuse.org/
as an example. Admins, developers, users, do You think to have such forum

Drag'n'Drop problem
Hi,
Under certain circumstances, dnd doesn't work on my system with Qt
applications.
This only happens when Compiz is active and with Qt-native applications
(such as Qt's dnd demos).
Applications using GTK or KDElibs are unaffected. To make things even
more strange,
the dnd works on part of the screen (top-left), but after the mouse
cursor dragging an item

Slow disk access on Dell Latitute with ATA/ATAPI-5 T13 1321D
Hi...
I have a Dell Latitute with an ATA/ATAPI-5 T13 1321D and it would seem
that my disk access is extremely slow. I have the latest updated kernel
from RedHat 8.0 kernel 2.4.18-27.8.0. Somehow I think it is related to
the UDMA stuff (shows my level of understanding). I have run hdparm and
although I think I should at least udma level 5, I have at most udma2
listed. Is this a kernel

Cannot load wcfxo -- Please help!
I'm afraid that I am at a loss here. I am new to Asterisk, and have
successfully set up SIP. But I cannot get my FXS card working, and I'm not
sure what else I can try.
# modprobe wcfxo

Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including
invalid IO or IRQ parameters.

Robust Cluster
I have a learning disability.
In fact, I am a learning-disabled genius.
So I pretty much keep to myself.
I have a few friends.
It's nice to meet you all.
I don't call it Replikon.Net on a whim.
Lately, I am building a robust cluster.
You see, I am pretty much useless without my Slate.
So I have, let's see, six (6) of them right now.
They are Samsung XE700T1A Business Slates.

How to annotate lattice plots
I am creating a lattice plot with
with(ordgdp, xyplot(delivery~AAR | GDP_ID, xlab="AAR", ylab="Actual
Arrival Rate"))
which works, and gives me 48 plots, one for each GDP_ID.
But I would like to put the number of hours that each GDP lasted on the
relevant plot. This is given by the following table:
>gdphrs
GDP_ID
