Packages, generics, S3 and S4
My question has two parts. The first is with regard to the frame or environment in which generic functions are defined in packages. It seems as though they are defined (i.e. exist as objects) in frame 1, even when defined in a package. The following is a short example: setClass("track",representation(x="numeric",y="numeric")) plotTrack <- function(x,y,...)

reading tables from url
I'm trying to read some web tables directly into R. These are both genome sequencing projects (eukaryotes and metagenomes) from NCBI and look very similar; however, only the first one works. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genomes/leuks.cgi http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genomes/lenvs.cgi I added ?dump=selected to the end of the url string to get a tab- delimited file (which is what happens

glm
Hi, list, I have got a dataset on soil and plant. I would like to fit a "glm" to my data. My response variable is percentage data. That is percent of plant root length colonized by Arbuscular micorrhiza fungi. Because of the nature of my data, I am not quite sure whether gamma or gaussian distribution is suitable for this type of data. If I use gamma distribution, which link function is

Probit analysis
Respected Sir/Madam, I have a question regarding calculation of LD50 (Lethal Dose) and IC50 (50% inhibitory concentration) of an antimicrobial experiment. I have used a compound isolated from a plant and observed its effect on the fungus *Fusarium oxysporum* by the food poisoning method. Solutions of the compound at concentrations of 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250µg/ ml were added to

using alternative models in glmulti
All, I am working on a multiple-regression meta-analysis and have too many alternative models to fit by hand. I am using the "metafor" package in R, which generates AIC scores among other metrics. I'm using a simple formula to define these models. For example, rma(Effect_size,variance, mods=~Myco_type + N.type +total, method="ML")->mod where Effect_size is the

Hello I have a very complete installation of wine with a lot of dll's and executables in .wine/... /system and system32 I have tried many windows apps and found a lot working perfectly - just to try as I dont need them: native Linux apps do as well for me I currently use Acroread.exe which seems to run better than the linux apps to view the .pdf I also use IZArc.exe to unpack
