Polycom - directory dial
This is not an Asterisk specific question but doesn't anyone know if you
can automatically prepend a 9 on the call lists so clients can return
dial without having to repunch in the number? If you go to directories
now it just shows the number without a 9 (obviously).
Maybe on the Asterisk side??

clearing "stuck" channels without a restart
192.168.1.107 199 6bd3fb49505 00102/00000 ulaw No
Tx: ACK
192.168.0.100 110 5c5a4953-65 00101/00005 ulaw Yes
Rx: ACK
Those channels are stuck talking to each other. The phones are
disconnected yet that connection remains. I can clear w/ a restart
obviously, but is there any way to tear down a call like that from the
CLI?

iaxmodem - fax tone?
I am testing out hylafax and iaxmodem. Submitting jobs to the hylafax
server and having it then dial using iaxmodem is working fine.
Hylafax server is talking to my Asterisk box that has a Sangoma A101 in
it via iaxmodem via an IAX channel using ulaw.
A call coming into a certain test DID comes into the Sangoma A101 then
it goes to another box via IAX ulaw that uses the rxfax app to

1.4 - SLA
I have read that 1.4 has shared line appearances, which I assume will
work with Polycom phones. Has anyone configured this and verified it
working? I was going to start playing around with it but wanted to see
if anyone else has tackled it yet.

yet another faxing issue (outbound only, via ATA)
2 Asterisk servers 1.2.12.1
Connected via IAX2, same switch, GigE, no packet loss, etc
1 with a Sangoma A101 for a PRI to the PSTN
Ulaw
QoS enabled
NAT for the registered ATA boxes, no nat between the * servers
Faxing inbound:
Call from PRI hits the first Asterisk server
Then talks to the 2nd via IAX2
NVFaxDetect receives the fax, converts to PDF and emails it out
Works great!

Receptionist phones
I've been playing with Asterisk for a few weeks and it's working great.
I have a question about getting multi-line receptionist phones working.
I was thinking about getting one of these expansion ports:

Channel bleedover?
Occassionally on calls we get what sounds like low volume channel
bleedover. Not clear enough to make out words, but not echo of either
side of the main coversation. We're using a Digium card with 11
channels connected to PSTN lines. Any ideas on what the problem is or
how to go about troubleshooting?
Thanks!

computationally singular and lack of variance parameters in SEM
Hi all,
I am trying to set up a simple path analysis in the SEM package, but I am
having some trouble. I keep getting the following error message or
something similar with my model, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong:
Error in solve.default(C) :

Issues adding sub-menu items
Hello All,
I''m new to the list and to Ruby.
I was trying to use one of the examples as a skeleton for something that
I''m working on.
I''m currently stuck when it comes to adding another item to the

Renaming The Default Branch
Hi Everyone,
Many tech communities, including GitHub <https://github.com/github/renaming>
and Git <https://sfconservancy.org/news/2020/jun/23/gitbranchname/>, have
moved away from term “master branch” and replaced it with “main branch” in
an
effort to remove unnecessary references to slavery and use more inclusive
terms. This was also discussed on the LLVM-dev mailing list

--compare-dest option
I'm translating rsync.1, and i'm having some problems with the
--compare-dest option description, actually i dont understand the part
which describes the usefulness of this option, it says :
This is useful for doing transfers to a new destination while leaving
existing files intact, and then doing a flash-cutover when all
files have been successfully transferred (for

moving netbios alias between machines
I would like to move a netbios alias (e.g. 'testname') from one machine
to another. Seems like an easy enough thing to do: remove it from
machine 'a', and add it to machine 'b'.
I've done this, but all's not well in netbios land. My clients still
want to talk to the old machine, and do. Do I simply have to be more
patient? How patient? Is there anything that

Fax with T.38
Hi all,
I install the last version of Asterisk and I tried to send faxes, but
nothing works.
Here is my configuration:
Analog Fax <----> IP <----> Asterisk <----> IP <----> Patton M-ATA
<----> Analog Fax 2
I tried Analog Fax 2 -> Analog Fax but nothing works!!
In the Patton configuration I put G711 and no silence suppression.
In asterisk I have

ordered logistic regression - cdplot and polr
Hi,
I have a dataset that I am trying to analyze and plot as an ordered logistic
regression (y = ordinal categories 1-3, x = continuous variable with values
3-9).
First is a problem with cdplot:
Produces a beautiful plot, with the "right" trend, but my independent factor
values are transformed. The factor has values from 3-9, but the plot
produces an x-axis with values from 20-140.

Question about replication
Good morning,
I?m looking at dovecot replication for the first time for a particular use case: The VM running dovecot is currently in a public cloud, and I want to move it on-premises, so I want to replicate all mail data from the older instance to the new (then cutover internal DNS) (and in the process update to newer features on the internal instance such as mdbox vs Maildir).
However, the

I can confirm, that tailor converts LLVM CVS with all history preserved
to mercurial repository without any visible troubles.

Time to set a coding style for Syslinux?
Given the number of people that are starting to be involved in Syslinux
development, I wanted to start a discussion about a common coding style,
for C code in particular.
Currently, a lot of the code in Syslinux is written in different styles,
partly because my own style has changed over the years.
There are pretty much two alternatives that I think are realistic:
a) Linux kernel coding style:

Questions still about a uw-imap -> dovecot conversion
The more I read about all of this, the more I'm thinking about moving to
maildir format. My switchover this weekend is full of holes due to the
way user's imap folders were laid out. Some had folders in their home
directory and others might have folders in their /home/mail directory.
Some how, Horde/Imp seemed to keep track of it. Dovecot is not doing so
well.

Any work-around for very large number of files yet?
Yes, I've read the FAQ, just hoping for a boon...
I'm in the process of relocating a large amount of data from one nfs server
to another (Network Appliance filers). The process I've been using is to
nfs mount both source and destination to a server (solaris8) and simply use
rsync -a /source/ /dest . It works great except for the few that have > 10
million files. On these I get
