In your experience what is the best choice for echo canceller ?
Which one should work better: STEVE, STEVE2, MARK, MARK2, MARK3, KB1 ?
Regards,
Claudio

hangup lag causing the answering of already answered calls
I have a TDM-400P with one FXO module. On an incoming call, I have set
Asterisk to dial my phone (exten => s,1,Dial(IAX2/carey)), which is
basically the only thing in my dialplan.
When the call is answered by the PSTN phone first, or when the ringing
call is hung up, Asterisk keeps ringing for 5+ seconds, which causes
trouble (the answering of already answered calls).
I noticed in the

Echo...
I've spent all day today trying to fix an echo problem and I've made no
ground whatsoever.
I have Digium TDM400 with 3 FXO & 1 FXS. I've tried this computer at
two completely different sites with different phone providers. I've
tried compiling & installing different versions of Zaptel (currently
running 1.4.0, started at 1.2.9 and worked my way up). I've tried

TDM400P, fxotune and ADSL filters - Just a FYI, FWIW
This may be commonly known but I haven't come across it so here goes,
maybe it'll help someone:
I have terrible echo with asterisk 1.2, zaptel 1.2.12, and a TDM400P
with 1 FXS and two FXO modules.
The Mark2 echo canceller with Aggressive turned on was the only setting
that would make it acceptable.
I found fxotune with this zaptel version to be broken.
I pulled the latest fxotune.c

Help! Echo problem even at T1 PRI?
Hello,
We have an asterisk setup at our client's site using a TE205P. The line to
telco is a 23 channels T1 PRI, however the line has random echo problems
(about 5-10% of the calls)!
Can anybody tell me if echo cancellation is really needed even at a T1 PRI
to the telco? Because people keep saying when they deploy voip solution in
Hong Kong using T1 PRI, there is no need of echo cancellation.

echo paid support
I've got echo problems.
*** I'm looking for paid support. ***
I'll accept free support, but don't mind paying if someone really knows
what they are doing.
I've read the wiki, etc.
Played with the settings in zapata.conf
Using V400P

Re: Received VNAK: resending outstanding frames?
Some more info:
Just tried this on a server without using any NAT and no port
forwarding, no masquerading, and I still have the same problem. So there
goes that idea. I do not know what this VNAK error means.
By the way, I am using the latest version (1.2.6) of asterisk, have also
tried other versions with the same problem [1.0.9 (Ubuntu Breezy) and
1.0.7 (Debian Sarge) and 1.2.1 (Ubuntu

"Last changed" timestamp is ignored?
Rsync's "does this file need to be updated" check can conclude "this
file does not need updating" even though the "last changed" timestamp
differs. This happens when the size and modify timestamp are equal. Why
doesn't rsync consider the "last changed" timestamp in the same respect
as the modify timestamp? Doesn't changed mean, er, changed?

Asterisk not picking up incoming calls from TDM400P
Hi,
I am having some issues with a new server install in Singapore.
Outbound calls work fine.
Inbound calls are not picked up by Asterisk.
Zaptel 1.2.25 and Asterisk 1.2.28 both built from source.
libpri installed
wctdm and zaptel load without error

Echo problem update - POSSIBLE SOLUTION
After speaking with several people, and even participating in a forum of
several other people with echo issues, I thought I'd share what we've
done (well actually what our chief R&D engineer, Brett Bourn has
done...)
First let me say that normal cheapy PC hardware couldn't be made to
function with out echo. We tried on both the single port Digium T1 card
and the 4 port Digium T1

Which application to open Zap channel?
I'm sure this a very common and easy thing to do with Asterisk, but for
the life of me I can't find the application that will allow me to open a
Zap channel.
Real world example: To be able to connect to an open Zap channel, so it
would allow me to say, join in on a call that was originally answered by
a PSTN phone (ie. just like you would by simply picking up another PSTN
phone..!).

TDM400P and AGGRESSIVE_SUPPRESSOR dropping calls
Hi, I had been using 4 X100P cards in my Asterisk box, but 2 of them
were sharing an interrupt. Therefore, periodically I would hear beeps
and clicks that I had assumed were a result of this. So, I ordered a
TDM400P with 4 FXO modules and installed it in the box last night.
Today, we've had nothing but problems with it dropping calls.
I installed the latest CVS of everything, and we've

Tweaking AGGRESSIVE_SUPPRESSOR
Using TDM400's here and I have tried everything to cure the echo. I
have used the Milliwatt test from the telco and from asterisk to tune
RX/TX gain via a patched ztmonitor. What happens is I experience
midcall echo. I turned on aggressive_suppressor and it seems to do
great. The problem happens with misc. noise around the office will
cause it to mute the other end of a phone call while

Fun with Echo -- Follow up
I figured I'd answer my own thread and document what it took to get
rid of the echo at my location. For those of you trying to get rid
of echo, let me tell you, "what worked for that guy, probably won't
work for you". I think we've all heard that before, and it's true.
Let me assure you that echo can be removed from your phone lines. At

Fun with Echo
I've spent the last week or so troubleshooting echo problems at my
Wife's business, and I've been able to clear up about 99% of the
echo, but there is still a little residual echo that I can't seem to
"tweak out". The users describe it as "buzzing or crackling", but
what it sounds like to me is a slight echo, but just of one syllable
of the word.

Newer version of Zaptel with 1.0 branch of *
Is it possible to run the CVS-HEAD/Stable version of Zaptel (1.2 whatever)
with an older version of Asterisk? I'm running 1.09, but I was wondering if
I could get at the newer echo cancellers like KB1 and MG2 without upgrading
to Asterisk 1.2?
I'm going out on a limb here to try and fix a serious echo problem on a TDM
+ BT PSTN line in the UK
Thanks for your suggestions everyone

YET Another echo issue PRI CARD Any help accepted :-)
Good Day all,
I have a Fractional PRI connected to my Asterisk Box via a T100P
card.
When I initiate a call out to phone number 123-8888 the call
sounds great no echo what so ever.
If the person at 123-8888 hangs up and calls me right back (same
handset on both sides) same trunk line
The call always has echo on it. The Asterisk sip extension
hears them selves echoing. The remote party

mid-call echo
Hello all,
When it comes to echo cancellation, we have had great success using
zapata.conf's echo cancellation. This eliminates the echo at the very
beginning of phone calls.
However, we now have a small office scenario where the users are hearing
the introduction of echo several minutes into a phone conversation
(where the first few minutes of the conversation sound fine):
