sip to h323 ... direct RTP?
Hi, Thanks to those who hinted on the SIP/H323/Skinny capabilities of asterisk ... I am starting to like this app! :D Now, I successfully managed to bridge SIP to H323 (i don't have skinny phones here). Just a question: Is it possible to have Asterisk "just" as a signalling proxy? i have a flat test network, and i would like the RTP streams to be sent directly end to end (sip phone

G729 with SIP and H.323
Hi, I need an Asterisk with G729 support. Preference is with Asterisk 1.2(.18), but if not possible, then it can be 1.4. Question is, can I enable G729 for both protocols? do the H323 implementation allow it? I found the codec support for H323 in 1.2.18 very poor ... only got u/a-law to work ... not even GSM. Would the Digium G729 license be good both for SIP and H323? Cesc

Using Asterisk as H323 gateway
Hi there. I am trying to connect Asterisk to a local danish ip-telephony provider. But is having some difficulties. First I thougt they were related to the provider. But then i started debugging on the Asterisk (aix2 debug) When I make a call using AIX to the provider everything seems to work just fine: *CLI> -- Accepting AUTHENTICATED call from 192.168.1.150, requested format = 1024,

Asterisk as H323 gateway
Is there anyone who is currently using Asterisk as a production H323 gateway? And using which combination of asterisk and H323 (chan_h323, chan_oh323?) The main issue is interoperability with other H323 parties (Cisco AS53xx, Nextone, etc). Searching the mailing list it seems that both h323 and oh323 are not so stable, is it only an impression or using h323 is really not so advisable?

SIP<->H323 calls without proxying RTP
Hello, Could somebody tell me is it possible to use asterisk without RTP proxying in SIP<->H323 calls? I mean exactly what canreinvite=yes option do in SIP<->SIP calls. I don't need a transcoding, only a signaling conversion, and this is possible with some softswitches, so i wondering what about asterisk. Same question about H323<->H323 calls I'm using NuFone

H323 to H323 bridging ... failed ... also with chan_local
Hi, I am using Asterisk 1.2.9.1, with chan_h323. The problem I am coming across is when trying to bridge an incoming H323 call with another H323 call: phone1 dials into asterisk with H323, for extension 111 in asterisk: exten => 111, 1, Dial(chan_h323, H323/111@phone2) (in my extensions.conf the syntax is good ... this is no). I can see how the first call is partially processed, then the

1.4, 1.6, 1.8 versions and the H323 gatekeeper functionality
Hi All; First of all, I am looking to have the H323 Gatekeeper service available at Asterisk, and really I do not know if 1.4 or 1.6 or 1.8 started implementing H323 gatekeeper functionality or not? Until 1.4.26.2 version, there is no h323 gatekeeper functionality. So, any implementation for this feature has been done in the other versions?

gnuGK + h323 Caller ID
Hi, I use with asterisk gnugk a gatekeeper for h323 client. I don't understand why asterisk can't have the H323-ID (callerID). In the gatekeeper's monitor I have this H323-ID but not in asterisk. Does anyone know something about it, or how can I send a caller ID to asterisk ? Rattana -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Registration of H323 Endpoints?
Hi, I am using the asterisk-oh323 wrapper and I am looking to allow registration of h323 endpoints and allow Asterisk to act as a gateway. The idea is simple: H323 endpoints would register with Asterisk. They each would have their own internal extension (like SIP). If a H323 endpoint dials an outbound extension, then the h323 call gets routed to a H323 Gatekeeper which then terminates

Following is the configuration: CISCO ATA (NAT) -> SER -> ASTERISK -> GNUGK My Cisco ATA is registered with SER and When I dial a number, SER forwards the call to Asterisk, and Asterisk forwards the call to the GateKeper. This is ok, call reaches the gatekeeper, however the gatekeeper drops the call
