Question setting up a "bat phone" extension.
Basically, I am looking to set up an extension which will be used as a "help-line".
I want it to function kind of like the bat phone from the old Batman series,
where Commissioner Gordon would pick up the extension in his office and it
would ring the phone back at Wayne's mansion. Is there a way to duplicate
this functionality with Asterisk?
I just need asterisk to auto-dial an

no audio between sip channels * 1.2.6
Hello all,
I am running * 1.2.6 I have 2 linksys PAP2 with two phones each. Until
recently all was good. on Friday I was running 1.2.5 when I added the fourth
phone. I have to admit to initially wiring the rj11(crossed wires) wrong the
first time but other than that nothing I can think of. Added the appropriate
entries in sip.con and on the PAP2. I then tried to call from one line to

Panasonic x Asterisk if I can emulate Panasonic fast!
Im a 3-days-asterisk-newbie. In 3 weeks, I must have a PBX installed in
a new office of ours: Panasonic or Asterisk. Asterisk would be, if I can
emulate some Panasonic functions on Asterisk fast, to convince the
executives.
What I have done until now: Bought 1 Linksys pap2 (2 FXS), 1 Linksys
SPA3102 (1 FXS + 1 FXO) for making asterisk tests. Configured
Asterisk/Fedora 9 so I can make SIP->PSTN

PBX-VPN-SIP-Asterisk trouble
Hi all!
I have the following setup:
Phone lines -> traditional PBX -> Welltech 3802
-> VPN ->
Asterisk -> Linksys PAP2/Welltech ATA-151 -> phone
There is 2 pieces of Welltech 3802 (2 port FXO) connected to 4 (2x2)
PBX extensions. Asterisk is a proxy here. Each device successfully
register itself. I tried the setup above with Linksys and Welltech
devices as well.
I setup

New Member, saying Hi. :)
Hello everyone.
I had heard about this open-source PBX once a while back.
I wasn't too interested in it at the time but I kept the info filed away
for possible future use. A couple of days ago, I was walking around Barnes
and Nobles and I found this book, called Asterisk: The Future of Telephony.
I paged through it a little and I was really excited by what I read. Then

kiax - iax2 softphone
Has anyone on here used kiax before? I am asking because I have it installed
on several computers and have been able to get it to connect and register
to my Asterisk box. I can even call between them and my SIP softphones.
The problem I am having is this: when I use kiax to call someone else, they
get some kind of background music playing while I am talking to them. I have
called from kiax to

Asterisk + Linksys PAP2-NA / Call Clearing
I have a handful of Linksys PAP2-NA's all talking nicely to Asterisk using
standard telephones. I've been running them for the better part of this
year. No complaints whatsoever. We chose the PAP2-NA's mainly due to cost
and especially the ease of provisioning.
In an effort to inexpensively bridge our office PBX (InterTel Axxess) to our
VoIP network, we've opted to connect

linksys pap2 automatically connect on liftinghandset
The best I can do so far (which appears to be a bit of a hack) is
(<:0>S0), which says to add a '0' to the start of the string and dial
immediately. This gives asterisk an extension dialled of '0', which
isn't the 's' that i'd hoped for, but is a good start!
(S0) by itself doesn't work, nor does (<:>S0).
Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Mimicking Linksys PAP2?
I've got a Linksys PAP2 on my Vonage account with unlimited
usage, but my softphone-addon account only has 500 minutes. Anyone ever try
to setup their * to mimick the Linksys PAP2 ? Any comments or suggestions on
what problems I might run into if I try?

fine-tuning asterisk questions
I have asterisk running more or less ok but I would like to turn off
call waiting and be selective about the incoming sip connections. This
is running asterisk 1.2.8 with a fxs and fxo card and a configured voip
(sip) line. Currently I'm using freePBX 2.1.1 to configure asterisk.
Problem 1) if someone is on the phone already and another call comes in
for an already engaged extension I

PAP2 won't make two g729 calls at the same time
I have a Linksys PAP2. Identical setups for the two channels in both
the unit and in Asterisk. In particular, both channels enable g729 and
set it as the preferred codec, and have disallow=all and allow=g729 in
sip.conf.
If we make a call on one channel, it works (and uses g729), but if we
make a call on the other channel when the first one is still connected,
it fails. We have three g729

linksys pap2 automatically connect on lifting handset
Is there a way to configure the linksys pap2 to automatically connect to
asterisk on lifting the handset (presumably into the 's' state)?
Asterisk would then be listening for DTMF tones to figure out what to do
rather than having to put a dial plan into each pap2.
I think the pap2 is pretty much the same inside as a few of the sipura
boxes so the same thing might work if anyone knows...

Question on PAP2 linksys showing off-hook
I am using my first PAP2 device from linksys. Used many polycom phones...
I configured the PAP2 device with asterisk. I have the registration,
thought I was good to go.
Plugged in my Valcom 2924 public address analog connection, called the
extension
and I got busy... very strange I thought.
I then looked at the status page of the PAP2 and it says the following
Reg online and hook state OFF.

How to configure a Linksys PAP2T ATA to connect an analog fax machine to Asterisk
I was having problems getting a Linksys PAP2T-NA to work with Pitney
Bowes mailing station so it could use its modem to dial home and
download postage/software updates. After scowering the web, I
couldn't seem to find a definite how to article on what settings were
needed. I finally came up some settings by combining the information
from various places around the 'net. I have typed out
