FXO/FXS cpu spikes, data loss and ztclock.
Digging further into the FXO cpu spike vs clock issue, I removed the 18.432 MHZ crystal from an FXO card and replaced it with a 20.000 MHZ crystal. This of course forced the zaptel timing way off ~ 93% accurate using ztclock. I then proceeded to modify the wcfxo.c driver source code to set the proper PLL divider values to return the DAA clock back to 8 Khz. I came up with the values of N1=25,

Zap Clocking - Frame Slips - tdm400p wcfxo zttest cpu spikes spandsp
I've made some modifications to zttest in order to use it as a frame clock accuracy tester / slip detector. I'm not certain if that was it's original purpose, but it seems that a lot of folks try to use it that way. The result is something that I'm calling ztclock for now to help avoid confusion. I'm including the source at the end of this post. You can compile it by placing

Oh oh. Micro$oft just noticed VoIP
It will be interesting to see how many standards get broken, and how many proprietary hooks get thrown into the pot. The bean counters smell some money, and their OS franchise is waning: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/26/technology/26soft.html -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.

ANN: Alaska.rb - Polar bears, igloos and sled dogs... oh my!
Is anyone else here from Alaska interested in a ruby users group to meet in Anchorage once a month? It might be a long shot but I thought i''d put the possibility of such a group out there if others are interested. If so, we''ll coordinate some times that work. Launching : New Rails Bootcamp in Dayton, OH -- Need Help
Hey, I''m building a Developer Bootcamp in Dayton focusing on Rails -- and wanting to know if any Rails devs might be interested in partnering up -- essentially being an instructor? I''m hoping to run this on a small scale w/ minimal staff - but tuition will be $10k and I''m expecting 15-25 students per 16 week (overlapping terms) so it could be very profitable. Our

Unresponsive samba and 2 gigabyte TDB files, OH MY!
Hello, I have been tracking this bug as much as possible, and it appears there is a severe problem in the code that deals with .tdb files. Lately our samba 2.2 testbed has been having painfully slow network responsiveness. It would go 30-60 seconds without a response to a client on many occasions (both browsing the network, and opening files/refreshing directories). Clients include Windows 98se,

IPSEC, multiple subnets and multiple road warriors, oh my! :)
Hi all, I''ve been using Shorewall 1.42 for a month on two firewalls at work and my own personal colocated server and love it. While pretty familiar with iptables, I don''t like dealing with it on a daily basis, and Shorewall certainly makes life easier. I''ve deployed Shorewall on both our Toronto and Ottawa office firewalls, and have configured a FreeS/WAN IPSEC

tons and tons of clients, oh my!
Hello gluster-verse! I'm about to see if GlusterFS can handle a large amount of clients, this was not at all in plans when we initially selected and setup our current configuration. What sort of experience do you (the collective "you" as in y'all) have with a large client to storage brick server ratio? (~1330:1) Where do you see things going awnry? Most of this will be reads

AGI why oh why?
I have been learning AGI, and have got to grips with most of it, one thing just confuses me. I have written a PHP class that does input and outs stuff to the AGI. It all seems to work. However on a stream file command. It's a bit different. If I have a php file that just plays a file and hangs up, the dial and hang up are in the dialplan, so the php proggie looks alittle like this.

Bridge() and Goto() and dialplan contexts, oh my!
I may or may not be experiencing the behavior described in: http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=14241 I'm using asterisk-1.6.0.6, Bridge(), and I'm having a hangup context executed when the caller is still on the line. These channels are all SIP. ==== I want a group of expert callers who can dial in to the system, stay put, and let other learner callers come to them. In between the

Coolkey and esc and "SmartCard"s, oh, my
What's happening: I put my "SmartCard" in the reader, and the Coolkey phone home window pops up. I close it, and the SmartCard manager window pops up, saying it's not initialized. Neither of these should be happening with these cards (US federal gov't issue, not DoD). Googling, I find <https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2010-0068.html>, and in that, it says (in part):

OH NO, Something has gone wrong!
Hi all! I'm setting up C7-64 as a VM using VirtualBox, on a Windows host. as soon as I install the vbox Guest Extensions and reboot, when I log in next time I get a white screen with a frowny face that says "Oh No, Something has gone wrong!" and then "A problem has occurred, and the system can't recover, please log out and try again." Sounds like a VirtualBox problem
