why a perfectly fine iax2 host becomes UNREA CHABLE?
> Is anybody on this list actually using iax2 for > anything mission-critical? Yes. 2K inbound / outbound calls a day to 30 remote locations, aggregated to 2 PRI's tied together with IAX2. All with IP address specified rather than hostname. All with Asterisk 1.0.9. All with 99.9% completion rate, and it would be 99.999% if we weren't using consumer grade DOCSIS cable modems in the

Directory - First Name/Last Name - How to use both? a@h?
I think A@Home allows a user to search a directory by either first OR last name, right? I don't know for sure since I don't run A@Home. I would like to offer that functionality in my system - and I'd have done it by now if there was a prompt where Allison asks "press 1 to search by first name, press 2 to search by last name". But I don't think that prompt exists. Can

Silent Attendant
I'd like to set up a "silent attendant". By this I mean when someone calls me I'd like for them to hear the comfort ringing tones, but for the first 5 seconds I'd like to give them the option of pressing 9 to send the call to an alternate extension; if they don't press 9, the call goes to a default extension. For most callers I just want standard PSTN behaviour, only a

SPA-1001 behind NAT -> Internet Asterisk box -- BOUNTY!
I'm still unable to get my SPA-1001 to work behind NAT with an Asterisk box out on the Internet. It works fine to my local A@H box. I've tried... many things. I'm willing to pay a $250 bounty (PayPal preferred) to anyone who can help me get it working. Any Sipura experts out there? Eric.

Handset recommendations
Seeking recommendations on handsets for use with Asterisk. I've been looking at the Aastra 480i CT because of its cordless handset and also the new Linksys SPA-942. Anyone using either one of these with comments on them? Any other thoughts on good reasonably priced handsets? This is for just a couple of people who work from home offices and will be connecting to an Asterisk server hosted

DTMF and DISA
Hi Folks, I'm trying to test out Asterisk overall. I'm having some problems with DTMF. Currently I'm playing with DISA, but I'm worried this will happen when I get to implementing AAs etc. I have a free SIP trunk from IPKall that I'm trying to make work. I'm able to receive calls, and I've now setup and extension with DISA and a password. I connect ok from the

Funny, I was talking to the CTO of a small CLEC and we were talking about Asterisk, I told him about my setup and my use of IAX, and his comment was about IAX was such a neat idea but

voice quality of Aastra 480i CT and cordless
Hi Folks, Looking for feedback on the cordless phones with the Aastra 480i CT handset. Is voice quality comparable to standard consumer residential 2.4GHz cordless phones in the US$30 - $50 price range, or better/worse? How about handset and speakerphone quality for the main phone? Seems like there have been various big issues with firmware in past, but is it pretty stable now? Thanks,

Park a call when sip phone becomes unreachable?
I have a situation where we have an asterisk box that is extending several Mitel PBX extensions to some cordless SIP phones (Cisco WIP310). Everything works great, except when the cordless phone walks out of range of one access point and into range of another (cisco 1100 series APs). I have another post to the list asking about how to speed up the handoff, and keep the call active while

Ouch, part reset, quickly
Ouch, part reset, quickly restoring reality (0) Power alarm on module 1, resetting! I have looked though a lot of email on this issue, and no one seems to have the answer. How many people are seeing this on a TDM400 card? Does anyone have a "REAL" answer to it. Yes, I do have the power connected to it! Regards Garry Taylor

Excessive Asterisk delay to answer on ZAP inboundcall
Open the console with verbose turned up. Make a test call and see where it is hanging. That will isolate the problem. > -----Original Message----- > From: asterisk-users-bounces@lists.digium.com [mailto:asterisk-users- > bounces@lists.digium.com] On Behalf Of Giorgio Incantalupo > Sent: Thursday, April 27, 2006 11:16 AM > To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial
