ZFS send/receive to Solaris/FBSD/OpenIndiana/Nexenta VM guest?
Hello, I''m debating an OS change and also thinking about my options for data migration to my next server, whether it is on new or the same hardware. Migrating to a new machine I understand is a simple matter of ZFS send/receive, but reformatting the existing drives to host my existing data is an area I''d like to learn a little more about. In the past I''ve asked about

Disk I/O in RAID-Z as new disks are added/removed
Hello, As I understand it, in a traditional RAID 5 setup adding new disks to the pool provides more overall I/O as the load is spread out across multiple disks. What exactly is this relationship in a RAID-Z setup? What should one expect in terms of overall I/O performance as disks are added and/or removed? I understand that the checksum data is distributed across all disks, unlike a traditional

Civ IV
Hello, I'm trying to get Civ IV running on my 64 bit version of Ubuntu 7.10 using the latest Wine version using these directions: http://tombuntu.com/index.php/2007/06/10/special-civilization-iv-playable-on-linux/ (the winehq appDB points to this guide as well) I'm having problems getting CivIV to run though. Firstly, looking at the wine settings here:

FreeBSD 7.0 + Xen 3.1 + HVM: Success!
Kip, Does the problem with Xen 3.1 in HVM/Intel manifest as those BTX halted errors (e.g. http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2006-10/msg00014.html) ? If so, do you happen to know whether this problem has been solved in Xen 3.2 or 3.2.1? This message of yours was written this March, so I'm assuming that 3.2.1 will contain this fix? Can anybody confirm this? I'm having

xyplot: subscripts, groups and subset
Hi, I'm running the following code to produce lattice plots of microfibril angle versus ring number in Scots pine. There are 12 trees and 5 sample positions ("Position") in each tree: xyplot(MFA ~ RN | Tree, data = MFA.data, groups = Position, subscripts=TRUE, auto.key=list(space = "top", points = FALSE, lines = TRUE, reverse.rows=TRUE,

4.0_rc1 new install fails to enable mixer devices
I've just installed 4.0_rc1 to evaluate and compare with FC3 for a local project. The installation and initial usage of the two distros is almost identical. up2date and yum work well on either. The one problem I have is with sound. CentOS has loaded snd_intel8x0 and all the usual suspects, but the mixers (GNOME volume controls, etc., do not work because there is no /dev/xxx for the mixer

Winecfg does not notice my headphones - only mic (USB Headset) / No 'Mixer Devices' in Alsa - only OSS
Hi, I've been struggling to get everything going fine for a while now. Finally I can talk clearly and hear people. Problem is it was coming through my speakers connected to an external USB Sound Card; if I set it to come through my USB Headset, it comes through speakers anyway. I unplugged USB sound card and restarted computer. Now I tried again. This time I simply do not hear sound.

[RESEND] Mixer + Joystick problems with a game. Anybody willing to debug?
Hi there! I've just downloaded a shiny new demo version of the rocking flight simulator X-Plane 7.30 [1]. Wine seems to like it, except for two flaws. It would be nice if any of you felt good enough to track down and solve any of them: - Mixer underrun: The sound mixer buffer seems to have some problems with this game when changing engine speed. I guess there this is a multi-wav mixing

Forcing Wine To Use Audio Device/Mixer
Well, I've got multiple sound devices on my system (integrated HDA SB ATI sound card, headset connected to USB sound card, and my webcam's built-in mic). Unfortunately, Wine does not always use my integrated sound device for some reason. So, instead it will do one of two things: go to the headset or the webcam. Going to the webcam is an auto-fail, and if it goes to the headset it

meetme mixer configuration
Hi, Matt and Asterisk gurus I encountered the same problem in my asterisk meetme. Whenever the 3rd person joins the meeting, it creates echo in the meeting, while 2 person meeting is fine. I am wondering if you can give me more hint on how to configure the mixer to have echo cancelled. We are using analog phones connected to asterisk TDM cards. Thanks a lot. Michael

RTP mixer in Asterisk
I will implement a SIP application and I'm considering using Asterisk for mixing the media streams (audio). Does anybody know if Asterisk supports or contains a RTP mixer? If so, how to use it? Just to be a little more clearer: I will send to Asterisk more than one RTP stream and they must be mixed. The result must be a single stream to be forwarded to a SIP phone or to the PSTN. Thanks,

libao mixer
I'm looking for some sort of mixer library to use with libao. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use beyond what was said in August 2003[1]? My application is console-only and mixes OGGs, MODs, and AIFFs which could be of any channel count, bitness, and sample rate. mixer input for icecast
hello, i'm looking for a mixer application as source for icecast. the app should be scriptable, e.g. it should take 2 or 3 input channels (files) at various volume levels and downmix it to one source stream for icecast. pretty much the same as a normal mixer does, but i want to control it by a kind of predefined timeline. any idea anybody? thanks, uno
