Asterisk Busy Detect
Hi, Is my CLEC feeding me a line, or is this really how it has to be? When I dial a number on their system, if it's busy I get a busy back right away. If I dial a number on say Verizon's system, the CLEC sends me a "call preceding event", and then I get a BUSY back from Verizon. Should the CLEC be able to only send me ahead if Verizon says "go head" and give me a

Polycom - directory dial
This is not an Asterisk specific question but doesn't anyone know if you can automatically prepend a 9 on the call lists so clients can return dial without having to repunch in the number? If you go to directories now it just shows the number without a 9 (obviously). Maybe on the Asterisk side?? Bill -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Voice calls sent to fax extension
I have a situation that has repeated itself a few times. Someone calls into Asterisk and is connected with a voice extension. At some point during the call, the log shows "chan_zap.c: DTMF digit: f on Zap/2-1". At this point, the call is redirected to receive a fax and the Asterisk voice extension is hung up. The users report that there were no noticable tones heard just before the

1.4 - SLA
I have read that 1.4 has shared line appearances, which I assume will work with Polycom phones. Has anyone configured this and verified it working? I was going to start playing around with it but wanted to see if anyone else has tackled it yet. Bill -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Selective canreinvite in multi-tenant environment
Hello, all. In our multi-tenant environment, we would like to be able to use the reinvite media redirection within Asterisk for calls within a tenant but not between tenants. We would like inter-tenant calls to be fully proxied by the Asterisk server. I think the answer is, "we can't," but I thought I'd ask anyway. I'd dearly like to remove the substantial traffic

No Caller Name sent from Asterisk over Natio nal or DMS100 PRI to a Norstar MICS?
All good information, thanks. However this is private network between Asterisk and a Norstar MICS about six feet away. So I'm holding both ends of the link. :-) > -----Original Message----- > From: David Troy [mailto:dave@popvox.com] > Sent: September 16, 2004 4:57 AM > To: Asterisk Users Mailing List - Non-Commercial Discussion > Subject: Re: [Asterisk-Users] No Caller Name

Caller ID Presentment on PRI...
Hey folks, I have a T100P card with a PRI; when doing outbound dialing over the PRI, I can use SetCIDNum(2024561414|a) to force caller ID to display as "The White House" on a land line. This is apparently done as a reverse lookup by Verizon, as I do not hand the PRI the words "The White House" -- 202-456-1414 is an actual White House number. Using SetCIDName("Flying

Setting Caller-ID / Point Codes
Greetings folks, I'm currently dealing with a company to let me set Caller-ID-Name on outbound calls. So far pretty happy with their services. The basic service works like this: * CLEC sets Point Code to point to this company * CLEC has to sign LOA saying they give me permission to set the Caller-ID-Name through this company. * I go into web interface and set name. However, the CLEC is

Multi-tenant with receptionist features for managed service
Dear all, I'm currently researching options for a MT asterisk gui/system for a small business centre that will have 12 units in it. Each unit will be configured for one extension. The system there will have a max of 12 concurrent calls to PSTN provided via an ADSL/SDSL link to our VoIP provider in the UK, using g.711, maybe g.729 dependant on networking costs. Fallback will be to 4 analogue

Agents/Queues Contexts
Is there a way to define multiple contexts for agents/queues such that in a multi-tenant environment, there could be two different, say, Agents 1000? I'm setting up a multi-tenant configuration and I'm giving each tenant a web-based interface to define their own agents and I wouldn't want to restrict one tenant from choosing an agent because another tenant (which the tenant

SIP - Problem with audio clipping
Using a SIP connection with a CLEC, the downstream (received) audio is perfect when the mute button is activated on the phone. However, when there is upstream audio (i.e., talking or even breathing into the microphone), the downstream audio is cut off. It's kinda like having a half-duplex audio connection. When I divert outgoing calls to another provider, these calls are fine.

Multitenant or Multiple virtual machines
Hi all, We want to offer hosted PBX services to some of our clients (maybe 10-20) and were wondering if it makes sense to get a software package capable of handling multiple virtual tenants or if we should just create multiple virtual machines in our server each running a single- tenant license of the software. We have been researching virtual PBX software for asterisk for a couple of

Zaptel DACS and FDL
I have the following configuration: CLEC -> T-1 -> Asterisk -> Adtran Channel Bank -> (analog) -> Nortel Don't complain that it's ugly. I've already done plenty of that. The CLEC manages their Adtran remotely and needs to be able to continue to do so. I assume they use FDL to do the management. We are using the Zaptel DACS/DACSRBS to cross connect some of the

Is libpri symmetrical?
My client would like to add new functionality, such as call queuing, to their PBX. They presently have a Telrad PBX; it has a T1/PRI circuit from the CLEC and a few POTS lines. They use DID for some incoming calls and an attendant for calls on the main number. The client's commitment to customer service will not allow us to outright replace their PBX with a new system--we could never

Zhone + Digium T1 bug (?)
We were just testing forwarding one of our numbers to a VoIP CLEC and ran into an issue that we've seen before but never figured out the cause of. It seems if you call us and immediately hang up - or if the call is forwarded by Verizon (which stills rings about ? of one time) the Zhone detects the ring and answers the call.. The Zhone however DOESN"T detect that it's no longer

Re: Asterisk-Users digest, Vol 1 #1835 - 12 msgs
Thanks Brian, and thanks again for the included definitions <grin> - that helped too. Your comments are really helping clear many questions. I suppose our intensions are to become an IXC. So if my local carrier is sporting old technology, they'll provide TDM services. So if I understood you correctly, the "in-band signaling" is typically SS7, and the alternative is typically

CAMA MF signaling for a 911 Trunk
Hi all, I'm trying to get a handoff between me and a carrier going using Asterisk. I need to handoff using CAMA signaling. On a Cisco, you can see the configuration types that I'm referring to on this site as an example: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps221/prod_configuration_guide09186a008019b16e.html#35393 The example of the interaction is the following: CLEC end
