I have an * setup with sip phones and sip fxo gateway. When a sip phone places a sip/fxo call on hold, MOH is very choppy. It looks like RTP has a real problem with timing if it is not receiving RTP packets. If the outside call that is placed on hold is not generating any audio, the sip/fxo gateway does not send * RTP packets. Is this valid? Is this a problem with the sip/fxo gateway or a problem

Been using mpg123 for moh for the last two years or so. However, when I have * config errors, often times get a endless stream of console messages and need to kill the two mpg123 processes. Is there an alternative to mpg123 that eliminates that issue? I see references in musiconhold.conf relative to madplay, native file format, asterisk-addons, etc. Not sure why the asterisk-addon approach

You could try to use the native mp3 support for MOH if you really want mp3 support. I know that it is common to have choppy and static sounding music on hold when connecting via PSTN but how can that be minimized?
