Wine path-association
hello.
I am trying to install an exe-file in the Program-Path of an individual Wine-Prefix. This exe-file reads an Inifile, which is in the same Directory.
When I use Winefile to open the .exe, the inifile is read correctly.
When I use it in a .desktop file with the order below, it does not work.
Code:
env WINEPREFIX "/opt/WPrefix" wine "C:\Program Files\Test\test.exe"

I finally managed to get AxCrypt working consistently under Wine but I
wondered if anyone out there could throw some light on the remaining
problems, or suggest a workaround...
I copied the files from a windows installed copy, just the executable
directory containing AxCrypt.dll & exe,AxCryptM.dll,AxDecrypt.exe,
Config.xml, notify.exe,Program.ico and Sigs.xml, into a directory called

Scripting help please
AxCrypt seems to give a problem passing target filenames and so I
created a script to correct this.
I can open axx files and encrypt any file by right mouse-clicking on it
in Ubuntu. I'm a bit new to this scripting and I wondered if anyone
could get this script down to one line so that it could be put as a
simple 'open with' line. At the moment it is a nautilus script and is

After uninstalling and reinstalling, no Wine folders
Originally installed Wine [9.33] from the Ubuntu repository. After
adding the WineHQ repository, I was upgraded to 9.49. Since it was an
upgrade, the folders installed by 9.33 were retained in place of those
9.49 would have installed if it were the first installation.
I decided to make my installation more "up-to-date" by uninstalling and
reinstalling. I've uninstalled and

Newbie wants to run Forte Agent
I'm new to the list and to Wine.
I loaded wine wine-0.9.7-i486-S10.2 into Slackware 10.1 in order to run
the Forte Agent newsreader. It was setup and running under Win4lin
which I have discontinued.
What would be the syntax to load Forte Agent and specify the old
"start-in" directory used under Win4lin?
wine ./agent something_for_start-in_directory ??

Where is the installer?
This is my first attempt at using wine.
I have wine installed on FC5 the version wine-0.9.17-1.fc5.src.rpm .
I have the winecfg, regedit, winefile, winhelp, notepad and wine
software unistaller. I do not see an installer. I can't find any
information that tells how to install a *.exe app on Linux and run it
in wine.

When typing, only one character for any app.
Whenever I try typing anything into any application, all I get is one character and then I cannot add any more or even delete it unless I exit out. When I load it back up the same thing happens. This problem also persists within the Wine configuration, I can only change one number in the window size box. I have tried the riched20 winetrick and I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it

winefile vs wine problem
I am new to Linux and wine. I installed a program and it runs fine from
inside winefile but when run from wine command line it only loads the
main part of the program and the modules don't work. I have searched
for an answer, but can't find one. What am I missing what is the
difference between winefile and wine when starting an application?

No Command Line
Hello all,
I've just installed Wine 20040813 on a Linux Computer (SusE 9.2) without a

One of my Applications will not run if I call it using wine direct from the
shell command line. If, however, i frst call 'winefile' and then start my
application from

Find Program Version in Wine
Hi, quick question.
In Windows, I can right-click an executable, go to properties, and in there often lies the program version number.
Is there any way that I could find such a program version number in Wine?

Special Place for Wine's Programs?
Is there a special place for the programs that actually come with Wine (winefile, winecfg, Wine's notepad, Wine IE, etc.) like the AppDB, but just for them?
Because I was wondering, say for example, someone found a bug in winefile. Where would the corresponding AppDB[oid] page be for winefile to attach that bug to? It would be nice to go to a page and see all the known bugs for such a

Wine cannot launch "child" applications
I have a problem that Wine cannot launch "child" applications,Here is
what I mean.
I can run applications directly using wine at the command line, eg:

browsing to the directory and then double clicking the application,
then I get an error message: "File not found". Also I get the

winefile shows drives as NTFS - is this correct?
I am having consistent difficulty with write access and installing
applications. The errors show up as write protect errors or not enough
disk space errors. 'winefile' shows the disks as being NTFS. Is this
correct or is it a winefile anomaly? Are these conditions related? What
is the correct file system type? How can this be managed? 'winecfg' does
not seem to allow
