Default caller ID
Hi, I've been looking at the problem of the default caller ID. When a call comes in with no CID or witheld it's always set to 'asterisk' which is what the phone displays. I've been looking for an option to change that. The only place I can find is DEFAULT_CALLERID in chan_sip.c. This is set by the 'callerid' option in the sip.conf. However the documentation

Caller-ID questions and suggestions
1. It would be very helpful if the voicemail module included the caller-ID info (name and number) in the "Subject" line. Otherwise, looking at the list of messages is like looking at an INBOX without a "From" column. I patched app_voicemail.c quickly, but it would be even better if this were a configuration option (since some installations don't have caller-ID

X100P with Caller-ID in Australia, anyone?
Hello list, I have an X100P clone card, and I've been trying to get it to receive Telstra Caller-ID without any luck. Hence these two questions:- 1) Will a genuine X100P work? 2) If so, where can I get one in Australia? Cheers, Jon

X100P/Caller ID: clidtest works, * complains [repost]
Hi, I'm running Asterisk 1.0.8 on Gentoo, with an X100P (clone) card, and I'm having problems with Caller ID. I have run clidtest, and it seems happy enough, returning:- server clidtest # ./clidtest /dev/zap/1 Number: 0412222222, Name: MOBILE (that number's fake.) However, I'm not getting the caller ID passed through with *. Sometimes I get a "failed checksum" like

BT line: unavailable vs withheld numbers?
On a BT line, how do I determine whether the number on an incoming call has been deliberately withheld (by dialling 141) or is merely unavailable (e.g. because it originated from overseas or passed through some ancient switching equipment) ? In the first case, I want the caller to be played a message to the effect that we are not at home to anonymous cowards but if their business is

withheld caller id
Hi. I am running asterisk 11 and i have usb 3g dongles to make my gsm calls with the following config in extensions.conf exten => _9X.,1,Dial(Dongle/dongle800/${EXTEN:1},120,KT) exten => _9X.,n,Hangup(${HANGUPCAUSE}) By dialing 9 it opens the dongle to make a call. I would like to restrict my caller id. so when i place a call from this dongle, it will send on the other end *blocked number*

Why isn't Samba honouring UNIX permissions? [NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED]
Classification: NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED Solaris 9 Samba 3.4.5 I know this isn't the sort of query that gets much response but I'd be really grateful of any advice people can offer. I'm getting really fed up with Samba as I've never been able to make it work properly. Either I'm missing something basic (probably) or it just doesn't behave in the way I think it should!

Unavailable/Withheld identification
Hi, I'm in the process of switching over to Asterisk from Alchemy kit and have hit a stumbling block. We're in the UK and use ISDN. At the moment we don't accept calls from withheld numbers (we just play them a message), but do accept calls from unavailable numbers. There doesn't seem to be any way for me to differentiate between the two number types in Asterisk (chan_CAPI) -

Caller ID, Called ID and Forwarded ID
Last month I saw something funny which I can't reproduce anymore: A 0500 number in .au is a service phone number and are forwarded on exchange level to a real phonenumber. So if A calls B it gets forwarded to C. Very simple. Now the funny thing, on the phone of C, I saw both A and B as the "caller id". I've been asking around and trying to get it again with a private 0500

SetCIDName question
Hi all, I tried to set the calleridname of an incoming call to get different incoming labels displayed for different incoming numbers. This does work for hidden number-calls so I can set the displayed CIDName on my cisco7960 from "CID withheld" to "abc CID withheld" If the incoming CID isn't hidden it works to use SetCallerID but not to change only the CIDName with

SMS to fixed phone line
Telstra (Australian Telco) has recently introduced a feature to allow the sending of SMS direct to fixed analogue lines, with an appropriate handset. As best as I can figure out, this appears to use CID type signalling, or at least on a line that otherwise has no CID on it, CID is sent, but with a standard modem I can only receive the date, time, and phone number (eg normal CID info). After that

Lars package
Hi,   I'm using lars package to run some regression analysis and my doubt now is how can I predict my model to another dataset? Let me explain a little better: I have a dataset from which I withhold some data. With the data that wasn't withheld, I create the model. Now, what I'm not being able to do is apply the model back to the data that I withheld. Any suggestions?   Here it goes

Multiple IF statements - is there a better alternative?
Hello, Rather than rely on a set of IF statements (as there could be many - please see below)), could the following be done in a different/better way? InternalMean <- mean(data1[,3]) if (InternalMean == 0) Intresult = 1 if (InternalMean > 0 & InternalMean < 1) Intresult = .95 if (InternalMean >= 1 & InternalMean < 2) Intresult = .85 if (InternalMean >= 2

Samba not honouring write/admin lists on shares
I'm running debian testing, so samba 3.05 atm. As of a few upgrades ago, which i think coincided with a library restructure or somewhat samba is no longer honouring read/write/admin lists on share definitions. Using the below share as an example, previously all users could access the share with read access, and those in the ntadmins group had write access. Since the upgrade users can only
