something is wrong with gsm prompts format
Hello,
after upgrading my asterisk from cvs few days ago I discovered that all
my anddefault asterisk voice messages/prompts was played wrong - they
was played so slowly ... and the IVR system wasn't usable at all.
Today I upgraded everything: a fresh cvs copy, made make install and
make samples - but after that the problem with IVR was the same: ALL

Voice prompts, do we have to use GSM?
Currently, the voice prompts are stored in GSM format. Is there a way to play other formats, like WAV files? Or can we play the GSM other than the current compressed format? Maybe a less compressed GSM format (currently, isn't the GSM mode 8k voice)

Win 2000 says Samba file as a revision 3 ACL (ACL_REVISION3)
Hey,
Would anyone be able to point me to info on ACL_REVISION3 specifications?
My lowly MSDN and SDK seem to only know about ACL_REVISION2. A file on Win
2000 share has revision 2, same file copied to samba share has revision 3.
Context: I am looking at the security descriptor for files under Windows
2000.
Thanks,
Matthew

gsm playback garbled over sip
I'm new to all this so I don't know where to look, some tips would be
most appreciated.
I've enabled sip debugging and everything looks fine on the client and
server side. Using Linphone on the client side.
GSM playback from the server console is fine. I've used Linphone to
connect to a vegastream VoIP system so I know if that installed and
working. I'm basically just trying

SELinux resource hog
Spinning off from the other thread about SELinux, I just tried to
re-enable SELinux on my personal server hosting just email and forum
for a small local community.
Average load for this Intel Core 2 Duo box with 2GB of ram (usually
with some 1GB free) was generally below 0.4 for the last 24hrs,
averaging 0.23 based on MRTG.
Once I did setenforce 1, load shot through the roof to fluctuate

Poor gsm playback
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
I've have installed a new Asterisk 1.4.15 system after having previously
used a 1.2 CVS head (from 10 Sep 2005). Both systems are pentiums though
the newer one is actually a slower processor.
On the new system, playback of gsm files is noticeably poorer (voice
quality is flakely) on any connected phone (sip or isdn, internal or
external).

Rails versions and documentation, confused learning rails
Okay, I am new to rails. I see that the new release of rails does not apply
to anything on the site with regards to tutorials including screencasts.
What I don''t understand is how I am suppose to learn Rails 2.0 if there is
no docmentation for it. I did see that on peepcode there is a pdf for what
has changed but how does that help me?
How do I get an understanding of the design

Zaptal and Fedora Core 2 and losing GSM playback
Hi,
I've successfully installed Asterisk 1.0 on Fedora Core 2 with the 2.6.8
kernel. I have two other computers running X-lite connecting to it. I've
been able to set them up so I can dial extensions "123" and "124" to
talk between them. I'm able to access the default "1000", "500", and
"600" extensions and they all seem to work.

GPOs, sysvol and such related plumbing
Who am I to say this? I am only a lowly user and would-be admin, but it
seems to me that one of the most useful features of an AD environment,
GPOs, is not fully trust-able under Samba because of instability and
ensuing fear, before and after each update, related to sysvol and who
knows what.
I still love you, though.

Playback/Background over Console/dsp
I'm trying to setup a primitive announcement-paging system in my house
using the line-out from my * box to a cheap amplifier that runs to
speakers on our first and second floors from the basement. I have a
extension that connects to Console, and console is set to auto-pickup.
I'm using alsa drivers.
This all works great, except for one thing. I want to play a tone over
the console after

Playback/background audio from MySQL BLOB
For some applications, storing recorded audio (prompts and caller
recordings) as a BLOB in MySQL has advantages.
So, once I have the audio in the database, how can I play it?
Creating temporary files seems so tacky.
Is there another way to playback or background audio either by specifying
a URL or from a memory buffer (either C or PHP)?

The future of centos
100% with Digimer here.
I think there are no conspiracy theories. IMO RedHat does not want nor does it afford to mess up CentOS.
All this energy should be put into contributing towards to the project, testing, helping out community.

Background Playback fails
Hi Guys.
I've had a lay off from Asterisk for 12 months but I am starting to look
into it again. I am not very Linux savvy and found it hard going the
last time. I've started playing with it in the last 3 weeks and I have
to admit to making more head way this time.
The first problem I'm stuck on and I cant find a solution to is that

choppy sound with playback, background, etc... but not with musiconhold
Hello,
I have an asterisk 1.2.18 working fine, the only problem is that all
applications that play audio, sound like "tremolo" or "vibrato", but
musiconhold plays fine.
The same audio file (wav, mp3, ...) works fine with Musiconhold()
but not with Playback() or Background()...
If I move app_playback.so from this system to another asterisk,
playback works fine...
Do you

No sound with Playback() or Background()
After switching to Asterisk 1.2.14 from 1.0.x, I encountered a very
strange problem. There is no sound with Playback() or Background()
commands.
Even though, Asterisk console shows the file is being played when I call
the extension (i.e. echo test), I can't hear anything.
My echo test extension looks like this:
exten => 600,1,Answer
exten => 600,2,Playback(demo-echotest)
