Receptionist Phones (was 3Com Phones)
Thanks for all the comments on the 3Com phones. Thankfully, there is a large number of phones out there to dig through looking for the right solution. What I have not been able to find, after spending all weekend looking, is a good solution for an attendant console. We have 2 receptionists that need to be able to view all 60+ phones (we could probably weed it down a bit if we had to,

Random Double Digits
We have a Asterisk box acting as a voicemail system and greeting/ call director for our phone system (NEC system). The problem we are having is that randomly (though most especially with cell phones) asterisk thinks it is getting a double digit. For example, somebody will enter "269" and asterisk will read "2269". I believe the core problem is the NEC system's

Need help understanding SIP phones
Greetings i have been using asterisk with good success with soft phones and I need to purchase some Sip capable phones to test. How would/do vendor specific phones like cisco 7900's and 3Com VCX 3100 series phones work SIP to SIP if they download the protocol from the Vendor call centers? I want to build my own with Asterisk, and use different phones. They say they are RFC 2543

Continue in dialplan on hangup
Is there a way to force a channel to continue in the dialplan after the remote end hangs up? Specifically, I am trying to play around with setting up a fax server. I can receive the fax, but sometimes the sending fax hangs up before my System command for printing can run and the fax never prints. I know I can work around by setting up a custom context and use the 'h'

US Caller ID
Okay, I can't find what might be causing this. Here is what I got: Asterisk server hooked up to a digital T1 line (full 24-channel) via a Digium card. Verizon has turned on caller ID on the first line (I can guarantee it is on as I can hear the FSK tones on this line but not the others). Using zttool an ZapScan() I have determined the following: 1) The RxB/RxD bits toggle from 1 to 0

Really Big Queues
Hi, How do you folks handle really large queues (350+ simultaneous callers) in your Asterisk PBXes? We're going to be bringing in around 16 PRIs' worth of inbound callers, doing skills-based routing, and queuing them up for approximately 200 agents. What's the best way to handle all of these callers? We want to record the calls and we'll probably use the ramdisk method that has

(FYI) 1-day reminder for 3ComR VCX IP: The future of communications ? taking businesses where they need to go.
FYI, Sorry for crossposting to the users and commercial list but this is really a HUGE development and deserves a large Asterisk audience. Digium = Shrewd business moves as I predicted when they purchased Sokol, it's like a game of chess! This is your 1-day reminder for the event: Event: 3Com? Using * in extension name
I am trying to setup an extension of *7XXX that will allow me to dial *7 and then any extension and use the Pickup application to pickup a ringing phone. Ideally it will also check if the phone is ringing somehow and then either dial the extension or pick it up if it is ringing. But I can't get that far. If I use *7268 specially it works fine, but as soon as I introduce any wild

[LLVMdev] Files to lib/System/Win32
>From: Jeff Cohen <jeffc at jolt-lang.org> >Date: Wed, 15 Sep 2004 10:35:36 -0700 > >What's a "compiling mesh?" What I meant, was that there are some implicit defines in mingw (like __GCC) and vcX (like _MVC) but possibly also other unsupported? internal structures. As I stated earlier mingw should be win32 api compliant, but not for complicating matters. But

3Com PXE server
I posted this to the group last year, but the problem was not fixed so I will give it another try. I use 3Com's PXE server to deploy the Fedora Core boot disk to my clients for an ftp install. I also have ghost boot disks, bios update disks, and a video bios repair disk all using the 3Com PXE server. The problem is when I try to boot a Linux kernel. With all versions of syslinux since 1.72

3COM 3101 SIP
I have been (un?)lucky enough to be given a 3COM 3101 phone as a demo to play with and see if I can get it to work with ASTERISK. Supposedly it is SIP, but there is absolutely no documentation with the phone and it doesn't seem to have very many programmable options. 3COM doesn't seem to have any information on their knowledge base about this particular phone. Has anyone had any luck

syslinux booting problem with 3Com PXE server
I use 3Com's PXE server to deploy the RedHat Linux network boot disk for an ftp install. I have done this for RedHat 7.2 and 7.3. I followed the same procedure I used for the other RedHat boot disks using the RedHat 8.0 boot disk and syslinux didn't work. Syslinux boots the system, gets the boot: prompt and dies. The error message is can not find ramdisk image and then cannot find

Pfilestat vs. prstat
[Just starting out with DTrace and was hoping to get some guidance.] I have a "benchmark" program that I monitored with both prstat (prstat -mL -P <PID>) and pfilestat (from the DTrace toolkit). Prstat reports LAT values in the 0.1-0.2% range, but pfilestat reports "waitcpu" values in the 6-10%. Since those two numbers supposedly represent time waiting for the CPU,

3COM NBX SuperStack 3
Hi, I've looked pretty wide on Google for this so I don't think it's been asked before. Has anyone had experience integrating Asterisk with a 3COM NBX system? The only way that I can see that looks possible is via the 3Com NBX ConneXtions H.323 product and then one of the H.323 Asterisk channels. Has anyone done this? Any pointers as to what to avoid or whether to even attempt it?
