RHEL question
I work for a small company, and we're running CentOS on our servers. We are looking to possibly move our most critical servers to RHEL. We currently use apt to deploy software upgrades to our servers. I have a question about RHEL subscriptions that they don't seem to be able to answer for me. If you have an RHEL subscription, do you have access to manually download the RPMs? We

Apcupsd UPS monitoring
Having some fun with the APC monitoring daemon (apcupsd) - I've installed the Whitebox rpm and it runs OK but I cannot communicate with the UPS on ttyS0 or ttyS1. I'm using a supported cable (according to the utility's Web site). I've followed the troubleshooting tips on the app's Web site with no luck - the only bit that I can't resolve is it recommends disabling logins

Updating on CentOS-3.3
Sorry to be beating a dead horse to death here... but... in the archives, mostly the FAQ is mentioned, but the FAQ seems to be 'coming soon'. :) I just did a clean install of 3.3. I am operating from the command line. I first mistakenly ran.. been there done that on WhiteBox as well. :( rpm --import /usr/share/rhn/RPM-GPG-KEY Got what I understand now is the expected errors. I then

Possible new CentOS user (currently WBEL)
Hi, For a few months i've been using WhiteBox Enterprise Linux. In fact, i've migrated all my companie's servers (about 20) to this RHEL distro like. Well, it's not that i'm not satisfied, but WBEL is a one man show and that causes me some preocupation. And besides, it seems to me that it can't stand up to the rythm RHEL evolves. That's why i'm writing to you,

Whitebox to CentOS upgrade
Hi everyone, I have a home computer that I use to develop on, which it is running Whitebox 3.0. I have copied all the required CentOS 3.4 RPMs to /RPM, created a new yum repository and then updated, but when I try to upgrade, it fails on a "recursive dependency on glibc". Is there any way I can force that dependency? Would it be easier to upgrade to 4.0 using Anaconda? Thanks for all

3Ware Escalade 9500S controller question
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Greetings folks, I'm currently redoing my home server as one of the hard drives in my RAID-1 array went down and I'm going to replace the lot of it with a 3Ware Escalade 9500S RAID capable card and four Seagate 200GB SATA drives. These drives are supposedly the coolest and quietest SATA drives available (better than the Maxtors I had anyway)

CentOS-4 i386 errata: Configuration change for
centos-yumconf has been updated to include (but disable) all optional centos repositories. This would allow a user to update / install from an optional repository without needing to modify the configuration files. Example: If you wanted to install a package named foo from the optional repositry named centosplus, you would use the following command: yum --enablerepo=centosplus install foo see

[LLVMdev] JIT compiled intrinsics calls is call to null pointer
Hi Andrew, this sounded a plausible explanation, because the X86 processor does not have an instruction to calculate the power function. So I tried the llvm.sin.f32 intrinsic, as the X86 processor family does have an instruction for that, but I still get the same problem. While you may still be right, there is at least something else going on as well. Thanks for your input, though. Taco.

The 300GB unit is a SATA disk which I hope to software (hardware!?) mirror - if I'm in for any major fun mirroring a SATA drive do let me know now - I think hardware mirroring is not an option (yet!?) but I haven't checked this out completely.
