Samba-3.6.1 release IPV6 issue
Dear Sir, I am trying to use the shared files from Windows 7 using IPV6 address. But I couldn't able to map or access it through V6 address, though I can access it through IPV4 address. I tried almost every thing whatever I did find on the internet community. I would be grateful to you if you could help me to make this working. If possible please provide all the steps including

Benchmarking Xen - Xeon vs Opteron. Will memory latency make a difference?
Has anyone done any performance profiling for Xen on different platforms? I''m wondering if the big (50%+) memory latency advantage the Opteron''s have over the Xeon''s makes a big difference in the context of a Xen host with multiple active guest domains. Particularly at the moment I''m considering the 2-way situation with the SunFire v20z vs the Intel SR1400JR2.

Experience with Xen & AMD Opteron 4200 series?
Hey, I am currently considering a two machine Xen setup based on AMD Opterons, more precisely Dell R515s or R415s with dual Opteron 4274HE. Does anyone has some Xen setup(s) running on top of Opterons 4274HE, Opteron 4200 or Dell R515 machines and is willing to share some experience? In particular, I am interested in using Debian squeeze (Xen 4.0.1, Linux 2.6.32) for dom0 and most domUs. Any

R, AMD Opteron 64, and Rmpi
Dear All, I found Andy Liaw's suggestion about using a NUMA (instead of SMP) kernel when running R on amd64 with > 1 CPU http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02a/archive/35109.html A couple of questions: 1. Is this still the case with the newer dual-core opterons (e.g., the 275 et al., families) running Linux (kernel 2.6)? 2. How does this affect using Rmpi (and snow, papply, et al.)

OpenSSH_3.7.1p2 Floating point exception on Opteron
I'm getting a floating point exception from ssh on an opteron running Linux (in 64 bit). It happens only when I ssh out to a server not supporting SSHv2 and when its public key is not already in the key file. Right after I answer "yes" to the "Are you sure?" prompt I get the exception. Here is the stack trace: Program received signal SIGFPE, Arithmetic exception

* and Zap on AMD64/Opteron
Hi, I have a server coming, which consists of an ASUS SK8N motherboard, an AMD Opteron 1.4g cpu, and 512m of dual channel memory. If you're not familiar with this, the amd opteron is a 64bit cpu that does hardware 32bit emulation. It will be running suse enterprise server for AMD64. I will not be running * on this box, but in the future it may be a good performer. So, before it goes into

Opteron - Kernel optimizations
I am considering buying a Quad Opteron for asterisk, However i'd like not to buy one and see that it aint working ;) -> would asterisk compile for opteron ? -> would ilbc compile for opteron ? -> would the g729 license work on opteron ? -> would zaptel compile and run ? (TE410p) And if not, would it demand a lot of work to get it running ? Would using 64 bit actually be faster

Problems loading chan_h323 on Opteron 64 bit
Hi, I compiled asterisk and chan_h323 on an Opteron in 64 bit mode. In the h323's Makefile I replaced in line 24 CFLAGS += -march=$(shell uname -m) by CFLAGS += -march=k8 and also tried CFLAGS += -m64 -march=k8 Both solutions do compile, but when starting asterisk, a load error occurs: undefined symbol: _ZN14H323Connection24OnUserInputInlineRFC2833ER15OpalRFC2833Infoi When I grep

Opteron vs Xeon?
Hi I'm setting up a SIP gateway, serving quite a few potential users, and I wonder if I should purchase a Opteron or Xeon based system. Xeon has it's HT, but is it worth it? Has anyone tested Opteron on asterisk? Does it work well? There'll be no transcoding in this system - G.711A all way through roy

Anyone running Asterisk on dual Opteron Server? Are there any special issues in a 64 bit environment and what is the capacity curve like?

Performance: Xeon or Opteron?
I was offered an upgrade path for my two Dell 1750's (2.8 Dual Xeon) to get into a pair of new Dual Core Dual Opteron servers. Assuming I can get the IRQ BS worked out so my TE411XP doesn't flip out, this should be a pretty significant upgrade. Has anyone been able to quantify any benefits to using one processor over the other? Should I wait for the newer Intel processors this summer

Asterisk 1.4.0 compile error on AMD64 Opteron server; recompile with -fPIC?
Hi, Installed 1.4.0 libpri and 1.4.0 zaptel and everything went smoothly. I configured asterisk 1.4.0 with no problems (./configure), but when I compile it (make), it fails with this error: [LD] res_snmp.o snmp/agent.o -> res_snmp.so /usr/bin/ld: /usr/local/lib/libz.a(gzio.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile

Recommendations for virt on Opteron 275 systems.
Hello, CentOS-virt list. The institution where I work has been donated some older IBM BladeCenters with IBM's LS-20 blade servers installed. These LS-20's are equipped with Opteron 275 processors (dual-core, dual-socket). In researching my virtualization options, I initially wanted to do oVirt, but after thoroughly investigating, it appears that oVirt, being based on KVM, will not

AMD Opteron 1218 wrong CPU metrics in 6.3
Hello all, since upgrade to 6.3 (and kernel 2.6.32-279.x) it looks like only one core of the AMD Dualcore Opteron 1218 is functional. Reverting to previous kernel shows everything working as expected. I've filed a bug report here after failing to figure out if it is just a configuration problem: http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=5821 I can't find anything on the net that would
