Asterisk & SMP: Is irqbalance Redundant on 2.6 Kernels?
Asterisk users, I posted the following email to the Fedora users list <https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2006-March/msg04154.html> and it got no responses, so now I'm calling on your expertise. Please take a look at it and share your knowledge on the subject with me. Additionally, let me know if you believe what I am trying to do is critically flawed. It's possible

SuperServer 6024H-82R and Centos 3.3
I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any familiarity with this server? It uses the Super X6DH8-G2 motherboard. Currently, we've added an Adaptec 2120S Ultra320 RAID PCI Controller Card to get RAID 5 capability. The installation bombs and from what I can tell it looks like we're getting SCSI resets or the controller is going offline maybe. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Question regarding dropped packets
Hi, I''ve got a machine that''s hosting a number of virtual machines (58 + the dom0) and I''m having some weird issues with packet loss and high latency that happens when ksoftirqd spikes in CPU usage. The machine itself is CentOS 5 x86_64 running the stock Xen packages (3.1.2). It''s a dual quad-core w/ hyperthreading, 48 gigs of ram, and using Adaptec

Digium TE121P + DAHDI
Hi, Just trying to figure out / solve some echo issues with one of our systems. The server is a Dell R710 running Asterisk 1.6.x and Dahdi 2.2.x The card in the server is a TE121P (with VPMADT032 echo canceller) We are experiencing some weird echo issues with our Cisco 79xx phones, only when we are dialing out via the PRI. The echo is like a side tone, where we can hear ourselves speaking. The

PSOCK cluster and renice
Hi Henrik, Thanks for the detailed in fast reply! My guess would be that the confusion comes from the different use of nice and renice. The workraund you provided work fine! Thanks a lot. PSOCK cluster and renice
Looks like a bug to me due to wrong assumptions about 'nice' arguments, but could be because a "non-standard" 'nice' is used. If we do: > trace(system, tracer = quote(print(command))) Tracing function "system" in package "base" we see that the system call used is: > cl <- parallel::makePSOCKcluster(2L, renice = 19) Tracing system(cmd, wait

PSOCK cluster and renice
Hi all, Is it possible to use the 'renice' option together with parallel clusters of type 'PSOCK'? The help page for parallel::makeCluster is not specific about which options are supported on which types and I am getting the following message when passing renice = 19 : > cl <- parallel::makeCluster(2, renice = 19) nice: ?+19?: No such file or directory Kind regards,

I built a new server about 10 days ago running CentOS 5.latest, and it's been presenting a message shortly after booting: irq 58: nobody cared (try booting with the "irqpoll" option) Call Trace: <IRQ> [<ffffffff800bb712>] __report_bad_irq+0x30/0x7d [<ffffffff800bb945>] note_interrupt+0x1e6/0x227 [<ffffffff800bae41>] __do_IRQ+0xbd/0x103

Compatibility Issues with dell poweredge 1950 and TE110P card
Has anyone had any compatibility issues with a TE110P card installed on a Dell Poweredge 1950? I noted the following error on the LCD display of the Dell Poweredge 1950: E1711 PCI PErr Slot 1 E171F PCIE Fatal Error B0 D4 F0. The Dell hardware owners manual states that it means the system BIOS has reported a PCI parity error on a component that resides in PCI configuration space at bus 0,

Renice server process
Hi, for a job of lesser priority I would like to connect to a Samba server. When I'm doing a 'smbmount', enter the server by SSH, pgrep for the new smbd process and then renice it I have exactly the behaviour I desire. Now I would like to automate this and yet start the server process with lower priority. Connections to other clients shall not be touched at all. Are there any

passthroughed msix device
Hi maintainer, Reprodue an bug on xen-unstable, it''s an irq affinity issue for passthroughed msix device to uek1 pvhvm(2.6.32 stable). I passthrough two mptsas devices(0000:0d:0.0, 0000:1f:0.0) to a pvhvm, irq affinity can''t be changed. Step to reproduce is as below: 1. xl -f pci-assignable-add 0000:0d:0.0; xl -f pci-assignable-add 0000:1f:0.0 2.xm cr -c vm.cfg

Opinions on renice or turning off swap or ramdis k as swap?
I have 4 gig in my * box. I'm tuning for performance and I'd like to ask opinions: 1. asterisk -p == renice -20 ?? 2. I've turned off swap with no apparent ill effects. Can anyone commment on long term effects with moderate load (say, 30 SIP phones / 2-3K calls /day) 3. Can anyone comment on using ramdisk as swap and whether this is a good idea or bad idea? I'm using 2.6

Starting a process at a specified nice value.
I wonder if someone could point me to the appropriate docs for my question? If I would like to cause my system to always start 'smbd' processes at priority 7 for example, how would I go about doing that. I'm assuming there's a better way than running a cronjob every minute to renice existing processes. I'd appreciate some help pointing me in the right direction. Thanks.

Thoughput
Hi, I am after a feel of the throughput capabilities for TC and Iptables in comparison to dedicated hardware. I have heard talk about 1Gb+ throughput with minimal performance impact using 50ish TC rules and 100+ Iptables rules. Is there anyone here running large throughput / large configurations, and if so, what sort of figures? Regards Dan

Audio problems on Zap & SIP, local network, not IRQ related?
I am trying to get to the bottom of audio clicks, pops, dropouts with my Asterisk server. These occur even when the system is under minimal load (e.g. 1 Zap device in a queue being played music on hold) and occurs with both Zap and Sip devices so isn't network related. The audio problems occur at the same time on all channels and seems to be when Asterisk "gets busy" and uses
