Have question about centOS-3.3
I am currently running centOS-3.1.
I have not received any package updates since Sept 1.
Is this in part due to creating new isos which would be named centOS-3.3.
How would I go about updating my system from centOS-3.1 to centOS-3.3,
or would I even need to and just keep downloading updates like i do now.
My system is running very smoothly with no errors or issues,
I was just wondering why

to go ahead and update to 3.4, being im running 3.3..
i run a minimal system...minus a few packages removed after install.
just didnt know about any possible security issues that would
come down for 3.3 if i have updated to 3.4..how would or would
i even need them....or will the upcoming security, bugs, etc.. be

Im glancing through my email from the mailing list and
noticed a lot of talk about centos3.4. When will it be
released officially. I have read somewhere that RH is
releasing RHEL 4 pretty soon....Im in no need to upgrade
because my system is rather stable..just trying to get
a idea of what is going on....I know i should be keeping
up with the list...but it gets complicated at times.

centos 3.3 and updates for 3.1
Hi Everyone,
Centos 3.3 is available for general use - you can find it at:
http://mirror.caosity.org/centos-3/3.3/
This should be a complete rebuild of all the nice things Red Hat has
included in the srpms of their Enterprise Linux 3 update 3.
This is a rebuild of all the changed packages from update 3 overlaid
onto 3.1. It includes a rebuilt anaconda and new boot kernels for the
installer.

rebuilding errata src rpms
I am running centos-3 and have a question about
rebuilding errata srpms from redhat.
Do all i have to do is run
rpmbuild --rebuild filename.src.rpm
to rebuild the rpm for use on my centos system?
I am talking about the src.rpms that dont have a
a filename change for example the rpm file name
change for kernels, etc that add c0 to the rpm filename
I am assuming that if the src.rpm filename

anaconda in 3.3?
Greetings,
I'm using centos3 to study for rhce, centos came highly recommended
in Michael Jang's rhce study guide. I've been having trouble
isntalling via nfs, an early exercise in the book, and googling around
leads me to think it might be an anaconda bug. I tried following the
anaconda link on the "upgrading from 3.1" page but it's actually a
duplicate of the

installing yum on RHEL 7.2
im very new to RH, and even more so to YUM, but i need to install it
on a RHEL 7.2 server, which i have done but installing the RPM
package, and updated it via the Centos2 archives. The program i am
trying to install is bacula, a backup/tape program on one of our old
servers, we need to upgrade to a newer version. I didnt want to deal
with the deps, so i thought yum was the way to go. well, it

Installation failure
I'm trying to reinstall CentOS on a machine I've reconditioned for it,
but for reasons I can't fathom, when the installation disk comes up
and prompts for the install type, and I type either <enter> (graphics
isntall) or "linux text"<enter>, after it loads the initrd image, the
machine shuts off.
It's an older machine I built myself (and ran CentOS on for a

Compiling R for OS X 10.2.6 (Darwin 6.6)
Our lab just picked up a G4 Powerbook (1 GHz, 1GB RAM, OS X 10.2.6). None
of us have any experience with Macs but for various reasons we need to have
one around for development.
In any case, we've installed fink, all the Apple Developer Tools and the
Dec2002updater to gcc 3.3. We're now trying to compile R 1.7.1 without too
much success. First we had to get g77, which turned out to

Hi to all.
I''m installed XEN3.1 correctly but I''m some problem to start it. XEN

[LLVMdev] Emulating an infinite register file in the backend
Hi Justin and all,
you've mentioned that you used an easy "trick" for defining an
infinite register file in the backend.
Does this involve defining a single dummy register, and then adding
this dummy reg to each register class? Is anything more needed? I
refer to the RegisterInfo.td file, as e.g:
llvm-3.0.src/lib/Target/PTX/PTXRegisterInfo.td
I'm (just starting)

Minimal install for CentOS 5?
Hello,
I'm new to the linux world (long time FreeBSD user), and I'm wondering
if there's an easy way to install CentOS 5 without the GUI and
unnecessary services? I see there's a server cd for CentOS 4, but I
didnt see anything like that for CentOS 5. Am I looking in the wrong
places, or is it just necessary to manually select the minimal set of
packages?
Thanks,
Aaron

Support for Comet?
So someone finally named server-push through HTTP-keepalive "Comet"
It''s also been implemented in a very nice Java/Javascript library called
DWR.
http://ajaxian.com/archives/dwr-20-reverse-ajax
Has there been any discussion by "the core" about adding this to Rails 1.2?
:)

While it doesn't include all the features of the old JIT quite yet, it's complete enough to pass all of JIT's execution tests on Linux and Mac OS X (no Windows yet). As for directions on how to enable it, follow the path of the "use-mcjit" flag passed to lli

Can anyone talk infrastructure with me?
Hi All,
I started a 501c3 (not-for-profit) organization back in February 2011 to deal with information archival. A long vision here, I wont bore you with the details (if you really want to know, e-mail me privately) but the gist is I need to build an infrastructure to accommodate about 2PB of data that is database stuff, stored video, crawl data, static data sets, etc. Right now in my testing of
